  1. Sweet purchases Kuma. I wished I had enough room for a Utopia and Pandinus. Those MakeToys (and to a certain extend FansProject) designs just speak to me.
  2. I wonder how big Star Saber gonna be. I always imagined him as pretty tall but je seems to be simillar in height to their Tarn.
  3. I didn't realize how much of Star Sabers armor can be removed for a cleaner bot. Looks nothing like a Gundam to me: Prime V3 on the other hand looks totally like a Gundam to me. Did you see that narrow upper body?
  4. What Bandai should do is release the VF-1 missiles keyed specifically for one VF-1 so that they don't fit on all of them. This way everyone will stock up on the first version of the missile set without being able to use them. :P
  5. Sweet Bandai is doing a MG AGE2 Magnum (https://hlj.com/1-100-scale-mg-gundam-ageii-magnum-bans57065): Need some Ver. Ka like water transfers to make him more in line with my other MGs Also colored images of the Dynames (https://hlj.com/1-100-scale-mg-gundam-dynames-bans56767):
  6. To me the smokestacks look like the wind vane gun from Classics Prime (and Striker Manus).
  7. Search for MakeToys Downbeat. He has some flaws (major one for me is the unpainted gray plastic) but so do the official.
  8. I'm excited what Takara could do with Optimus Prime now that there seems to be no more budget restraints in Takaras planning. I probably wait till the Black version comes out since MP-44 has all that stuff that I don't really need. It seems like Takara is planning to produce a product on Bandais level let's see if they can pull that off. I was always of the opinion that MPs could be so much better if Takara would be able to put more money into them. On the other hand every time they tried to push the boundaries something went wrong in the past. MP-09 Rodimus Prime hat massive issues with the legs. MP-36 Megatron had paint scratch issues. MP Dinobot mis-assembled shoulders, etc. Speaking of G1 Megatron I have him and he needs a counterpart so maybe this Prime will be mine regardless of all the extras they put into the box.
  9. Sweet I hope NY comes through with my order. I've included a MB F91 Harrison Custom to my order and I'm really looking forward how the blue on mustard yellow will look like (and outfit my Astraea with more shields of course). I'm a bit wary with NY and TWE items lately since the VF-31A disaster and the Gunbarrel Striker selling out in less than a day.
  10. Can't we get a Kämpfer Amazing from that... on second thought I would rather have a Metal Build Kämpfer Amazing than another Robot Damshii.
  11. I remember the discussion the last time we had it and the outcome was that it should go into the regular thread because it is licensed while everything else here is not.
  12. In related news my Kuro Kara Kuri Tarn shipped from PSX. I‘m hyped (if we are posting the Flame Toys stuff here that is).
  13. I want to address a few things. First if this doesn't look appealing and you dislike the non-transforming aspect of Flame Toys releases I hope you'll be able get (or have) the Star Saber toy of your dreams. I doubt it is the MP version because it is a heaping, streaming pile of sh... not very good. I like the design of IDW Star Saber so I’m hyped for him. Secondly I want to dig into the Gundam comparison. The crotch thrust pose you don't need to do to since it is done via a lower torso bend. Gundams have a big center block in their waist area that is protruding outward (even the RX-98). Star Saber has an unusual primary weapon for a Gundam, a zweihaender, which is a stable of many Transformers. He has no Gundam Style head crest and chin. Now, to break down the proportions of Star Saber: All iterations of him have the shoulders that extend upwards On Gundams the shoulder armor gets wider. Even on suits with massive pauldrons, like the Sazabi, they are more wide than high. Star Sabers shoulders style is often found on Transformers like Ultra Magnus, Grimlock, Rodimus and almost all the combiners. Even Optimus Prime has hints of that due to his smoke stacks. Gundams usually have a much narrower torso section compared to the rest of the body. The proportions on Star Saber are closer to a Transformer. Especially since his original chest is flat whereas Gundams usually have a piece in the center that protrudes outwards. Flame Toys version has that feature because the IDW line art has it but it is not as prominent and narrow. Since it doesn’t transform this religious zealot has a more human lower abdomen so I can understand why this is throwing you off but it is in line with the other Flame Toys figures. Another feature of Star Saber are the massive blocks of legs that are also present on all representations I know of. On a Gundam the legs are usually more human in shape with a natural curvature towards a distinctly shaped calf and athletic tights. The thighs on Gundams are usually colored in the main color of the suit while Star Sabers are blue. Flame Toys Star Saber legs remind me mostly of the Sinanju Stein. But you know who also has massive blocks for lower legs: Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, the Dinobots... The knee pads are a shared similarity though. Star Saber colors are the same ones on most of the main Gundams: white, red, blue and yellow. Compared to a Gundam there is too much color variation going on. It is also a popular color scheme for Transformer: Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Starscream to name a few. I guess this colors combination just look heroic. One thing that that is very similar is the shape of the forearms whereas the G1 Star Saber has big blocks the ones on this version are comparable to a Gundams. Hip skirts that are a stable on a Gundam design but elongated. The angelic backpack is a big part of the Seed/Seed Destiny designs. On the other hand Transformers that turn into flying vehicles (like the V-Star) usually have their wings on the back in a similar configuration so I can see why it was incorporated in the IDW design. tl:dr; I think JBOs observation is spot on. To me Star Saber is much more a chunky, Japanese super robot than a Gundam which are lean and athletic. Yes there are some similarities to a Gundam but also many links to the designs from Transformers. That said the Flame Toys has many design elements from Gundam sprinkled which come from the IDW design as well as the stylization of the Kuro Kara Kuri line so maybe this tips the scale towards the Gundam comparisons? Although the Gundam comparisons are also a stable when talking about G1 Star Saber so I don’t know. I would say the closest Gundam I could find is the Double Zeta which design predates Star Saber and shares a similar transformation scheme. He also as many similarities to the Autobot leaders that came before him like Optimus, Magnus and Ginrai. So what do you think about my observations. Do they have merit or am I on the wrong track here and if so why?
  14. I don't understand why people are feel the need in to comment on the Gundam-ish look of Star Saber. It was in part designed by Kunio Okawara who also was responsible for the RX-78-2 Gundam. To me a good representation of Star Saber will always have this look to it. I can understand if you don't like the design but the comment: "it looks like a Gundam" doesn't give me any idea what you are thinking about this.
  15. I'm gonna explode into a million tiny pieces with all the hype around Flame Toys Star Saber: https://twitter.com/flametoys_staff/status/1062657528671031297?s=20
  16. What about Mad Max Fury Road?
  17. The Crossbone Gundam is availability at the moment at NY for the inflated price of 28K JPY. https://www.nippon-yasan.com/figures/26284-metal-build-crossbone-gundam-x1.html

I would disagree to a certain extend that it stays super well together in Fighter-Mode. The arms attach on a flip out peg that is not the most stable connection since the side of the forearm has a convex shape so does the leg it pegs into which means the area where they connect is very small. Since they are flip out pegs that don't lock into place the connection is not as secure as a standard peg. Also there is no back place between the wings and the arms which means unlike the VF-1 the arms cannot peg into anything other than the peg on the leg. The cover for the head turret is also rather flimsy and is not level to the Valkyrie and doesn't really peg into the head turret which makes it not much fun to handle. Luckily with SAP pack equipped you flip the cover 180° onto the top of the fighter so no need to worry about that. Additionally (which is mostly a pet peeve of mine) the intakes are no molded more like in the line-art and don't cover the shoulder blocks completely so you get an unusual gap from the front. To me the intakes just look weird since they don't cover the shoulders but this also means that there is nothing to cover up the main hip joint which is the only place that keeps the legs secured so handling is not as solid as a HMR VF-1 (or any of the 1/60 Valkyries) That being said the HMR VF-2SS is the best version of this Valkyrie out there and I'm not sure that someone else will ever to a 1/60 scale that comes close to the shape in the line-art.
  19. What I'm not ok with is that Arcadia omitted the U.N.SPACY print on the legs!!!! Oh well, I'll live.
  20. I lnow that link very well, thank you. I‘ll wait till the lottery ones come into the secondary market which hopefully brings the price down.
  21. I know about the black armor but I was under the impression that it was a very limited release so I assume the after market prices are through the roof. And while I think the back leg thrusters of the Divine Armor are awesome I pefer the Divine Shooter over it.
  22. I bought all three molds already and I‘m in for Jetfire, Galvatron and Rodimus. However I wont buy a mold twice from this line and I wont buy a Divine Shooter that doesn’t match my Erebus.
