  1. I agree I much rather have a 1/35 scale VF-1 with all the bells and whistles that is the centerpiece in my collection together with my Arcadia SDF-1. If you squint the 1/48 scale could be a fine successor of the 1/60 Yamato mold especially since all the improvements Bandai implemented could have been realized in the 1/60 scale as well. That said I will probably buy one if they do a DYRL Hikaru VF-1S with the Super Strike Pack just to have this mold in my collection. It will probably still be paired with my SDF-1 though but all the time I will look at it I will see the potential that the SoC 1/35 could have had.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I want a DX Elysion so badly. It will probably be an Armor Part announcement though.
  3. I think "it looks old" is that the design of MP-10 was rooted in the idea that a Masterpiece toy should be the amalgamation of all aspects of the character. It was basically the physical representation of the idealization of Optimus Prime. The new idea behind that toy line seems to be that Masterpieces need to be an accurate representation of the G1 cartoon. Now both ideas are a valid approach (I prefer the first one) but MP-10 doesn't fit with Masterpiece Megatron who is very toon accurate (MakeToys Despotron is an excellent fit for MP-10 and to me he is also the superior Megatron compared with MP-36) . But that's why I would classify him as old. He belongs to the old idea of what a Masterpiece toy should be. Personally I think the toy has aged very well. Almost no criticism arose that weren't there in the beginning like the limited movement in the elbows and knees and the floppy ankles. I think the only criticism that arose in the meantime is that the proportions, especially of the arms, are a bit wonky. To me MP-10 is still the best Masterpiece toy I have in my collection (at least from Takara) and he holds up remarkably well.
  4. I payed for my Flame Toys Tarn yesterday and I'm really hyped for that toy. Hopefully they can keep the September/beginning of October release date. In other Flame Toys news. The Moonbase 2 podcast is collecting questions for a text interview with FlameToys over at TFW. Maybe you got some interesting ideas for questions: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/got-any-questions-for-flame-toys.1159856/#post-16115066
  5. I have the new Ver. Ka ZZ. I like all the complexity, gimmicks and articulation of these MG kits. Also all the waterslide decals with the tiny markings really bring the kit to live in my opinion.
  6. That is a relief to know. Not a fan of the Sinanju because there is no color separation for the black inlays on the gold ornament like on the RG just stickers. I build the actual Hi-Nu a a year ago so it will be only the HWS that needs to be assembled, panel lined and decaled up.
  7. My theory is that Bandai has so many product lines that the need to allot factory time in batches and well ahead to manage these wast portfolios. I.e. you can either do one batch for 1000* units or two batches for 2000* units nothing in between. They probably figures that the amount of units they can sell is around 1200* so it wouldn't make sense to produces two batches especially if the hype around the releases makes sure that they sell all their stock. Even if Evangelion and Gundam are popular franchises the market for those toys might still be small enough that it doesn't make sense to make special productions just for them or delay the next wave of Dragonball SHF toys or similar popular lines. I can't imagine that the stakeholders of Bandai hate money. And just because we care about these toys doesn't mean that they matter that much in the grand scheme of things of one of the largest toy manufacturers in the world. *fictional numbers
  8. Thanks for all the replies on the RX-178. I really enjoyed reading them. Onwards to the next project. I have the MG Sinanju Stein, the MG Double Zeta or the MG Hi-Nu HWS to choose from.. ...but which one to pick. I thought about the HWS but then again I can only flat coat them next summer so they just would sit around collecting dust (instead of the box collecting it). Maybe I do the Stein because I only heard good thinks about the MG Sinanju. Well maybe with the exception of the main ball joint on the waist breaking.
  9. For fun I build the RG RX-187 Gundam Mk-II and it is probably my favorite RG kit to date. I really like that they went overboard with the stickers since I like if a Gundam has all the little text labels and stuff (that's why I love building the Version Ka. MG kits) I wish it had waterslide decals instead of the stickers but otherwise it was a very enjoyable build. Loved the color separation on the parts as well as the tubing used in the legs and the backpack. This leaves me with the question why it is so good. The reason why I'm asking is that I have not watched much Gundam and the PG version of the RX-178 was recommended to me as one of the best PG kits out there. So does this suit have any historical significance, is it especially loved by fans or any other reason why kits of this design come out so well?
  10. I don't get where you get the overly glossy part from Bandai releases. Since the YF-30 they did away with the glossy molding. The recent releases all came with a matte finish so I would assume that a potential VF-11 or YF-21 would come with the same matte finish.
  11. I want more Zone of the Enders Riobots and maybe a Gurren Lagann reissue. God Gravion looks so tempting but I'm trying to focus my collecting.
  12. For those in Europe you can order the Metal Build EVA through Kapow Toys: https://www.kapowtoys.co.uk/metal-build-evangelion-eva-01-test-type.html I use them quite a bit for my 3rd party transforming robots and they always delivered, have a good responsiveness and customer support. The price is higher but that is due to the included 20% VAT in Great Britain. I don't know if they can remove the sales tax when they ship outside of Europe but it might be worth asking if it the EVA is still available for preorder. [edit:] Seems like they only ship to countries in Europe but you can request a custom quote for other countries with the exception of the US.
  13. I don’t understand the appeal of overly large toys. They take up too much real estate are unwieldy to handle. I’d love to buy MakeToys Utopia and Pandenus but they are too large. Nice pictures though.
  14. I very excited for this game. I'm a huge cyberpunk fan (Shadowrun in particular) and I will buy a new PC for this. I'm not a big fan of the 1st person perspective if you can customize your character. I wonder how often you will see your character in cutscenes.
  15. D.Va is up for preorder. Release date June 2019: https://hlj.com/product/gsc90623
  16. I would be really excited about a PG Sinanju.

    Bandai DX VF-31

It is totally bizarre. Where is NY getting their VF-31As from. Why do they tickle out so slowly. I can't imagine that Bandai is producing more VF-31As and sending out one per month to NY so where are they from?
  18. I'm torn on the Eva-01. On the one hand this looks really odd in some areas. Like how elongated the torso is when he is not hunched over. Also the head is off especially the chin which is for some reason important to me. I get that Metal Build releases are a re-imagining which I like for all the Gundams but something is not right with that one. On the other hand was NGE such a big influence in my early anime fandom so so I really want a toy representation of the 00/01/02.
  19. So following the female - male - female pattern the next Overwatch figma will be D.Va: Preorders will probably start on August 30th: http://news.toyark.com/2018/08/22/good-smile-reveals-overwatch-d-va-figma-314304 I wonder how far will the come for the original roaster and what is next. My guess would be Hanzo next and afterwards Mercy or May. I hope it is Mercy.
  20. There was a survey by Bandai Japan on what suits from Gundam Seed would you like to see next to/after the Aile Strike in the Metal Build line (that's what I pieced together from google translate so please correct me if I'm wrong) https://www.gundam.info/special-series/gundam-census/572.html Place 1 and 2 are Destiny Justice Gundam and Providence Gundam respectively by a wide margin. On place 3 to 5 there are Strike Rouge, Aegis Gundam and the Buster Gundam. I would love to get a MB Destiny Justice Gundam (after the Crossbones) but I also would like to see a MB Buster Gundam. [edit:] Fixed my mistake. It is of course the Justice Gundam... don't know why I typed Destiny maybe because I'm thinking about buying the Heine Custom lately...
