Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
Scyla replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm still debating if I should preorder both of the Fix Figuration Awakening Unicorns. It seems I missed all the preorders from the Japanese retailers and while I love the Unicorn design I already have the Robot Damashii versions. To be honest I would rather buy into the Metal Build Gundam 00 figures but the Avalanche Exia is also sold out and too expensive over at BBTS. I wonder if I should wait for the release date to see if stock becomes available. On the other hand I should probably save the money to buy something that fits into my collection. Then again I'm curious how the Metal Build / Fix Figuration toys feel in hand. Oh well First World problems.- 6025 replies

It seems I'm unable to get a preorder in from a Japanese base store for any Metal Build or Fixed Figuration toys.- 6025 replies

Either Valkyrie development is dirt cheap or SMS pays a fortune to their employees. [edit:] I will buy one but I would love to get one in the VF-19A colors.

So I started to panel line the RG Strike Freedom today and found out that you really have to clear coat the frame first if you want to panel line it. Otherwise the paint of the lining marker won't be removable with water if you mess up.

I bet $10 that the joints where the wings attach to the main frame will get floppy pretty quickly.

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread

Yeah I know *sigh*. I will probably wait for the official version. Like I said I'd rather support the original rights holders and I think an MP Mirage is likely to happen. In addition as nice as MMC products are they don't fit into the Masterpiece line. However I'll wait for reviews for final judgment.- 9275 replies

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
Scyla replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't know. I'm rather deterred by all the companies. In addition they now release toys that are likely to get an official release by TakaraTomy (MP Megatron and Mirage) and I would rather wait and buy an official product than buying a toy from a company that has no track record. I'm currently invested in the toys MMC releases because they are quality toys and I like their (imho) unique look and FT because it is unlikely that TT will release the rest of the Dinobots. If I direct more funds to those independent toy makers it would be FansProject.. [rant] And I would have had the chance to check out their M³ set if stupid DHL would have done the job they're payed for and deliver packages. Now after one month since the toy had been sent back to the States it still hasn't arrived at TFSource so I fear they have lost it or took the slowest shipping (probably by boat) to save money... cheap bastards. Now my money is in limbo and it is probably too late to open a PayPal dispute.. [/rant] ..or Maketoys because they offer quality. I'm not against new competition and I had two leaps of faith with my Knight Morpher Commander and Quakewave that turned out nicely but I just don't have the money or the room to buy every new release.- 9275 replies

I think they included the wings with the hard points because they are not planning to release an Armor Parts set but with the extra wings people can use the ordnance from the other Nightmare releases.

I will try to post a few images tomorrow but I'm terrible at taking pictures and I have suboptimal lighting at my place which makes taking pictures a chore.

So I built the Strike Freedom today and the only parts where you can see the underlying plastic of the frame parts are the elbow joints. Everything else is nicely covered by the armor panels. Other areas where you can see bare plastic after I spray painted the parts on the runners are the track of the lower knee joints and the ball joints on the shoulders. there are some other small parts like the hands that stem from cutting the parts off the runners but they are hardly noticeable. You should probably go with the richer gold. The more silver color turned out ok and I will see what I can do with the brown lining pen to make the color warmer. If you need some pictures I can post some if you want. So there is your assembly report.

Nope still does nothing for me. I don't know why because I was blown away by the images of the Fixed Figuration Unicorn with the green psycho frame. Maybe it is the frame color but than again I love the red on my Robot Damashii toy... Weird....

So if Skywarp is indeed a Hasbro Asia release why does BBTS has an image of the Japanese MP packaging for the toy? Also the production number for Skywarp is TAK12001 the Asia exclusives begin usually with HAS right? On the other hand the Asia exclusive Grimlock had the Takara packaging as well but it was a reissue. I can't imagine that Takara is not offering this to their primary market... of course they haven't released Thundercracker so.... ...ah dammit: Yeah finally Skywarp. I will wait if the Japanese retailers get a listing before I order from BBTS.- 17164 replies

I think the greatest downfall of the F-35 is that is doesn't look cool enough. It is the same problem the J-20 has. New fighter-jets are generally lacking in this department.

Have they released a list of extras the Norn will come with? Or is it just what we see in the picture? I really would like to have the claw arm, the rail gun, the miniguns, the bazooka, the regular shield, the....- 6025 replies

I'm definitely gonna get it because I missed out on the first release of the toy. However I would have preferred a pink paint job.

Hard to tell since it is a different beast. Check out JoshBs excellent review over at CollectionDX: The VB-6 has shoulder joints that are prone of developing cracks so maybe the refined the toy for this release.
-
I really like the greenish color in the right pictures. Wonder how the toy will look in hand since the left image looks completely different in terms of coloring. Is it confirmed to be a web shop exclusive? Do they mention a release date? Everything after March 2015 is fine.

Yeah the TS-21 looks better but the shop hadn't the richer gold so I went with this color. The finished kit will look somewhat like the Strike Freedom I saw posted in Syds blog: http://www.gaijin-gunpla.com/2014/10/rg-strike-freedom-gallery/ The look is ok for me. I thought of using a brown lining pen for shadows on the frame which might result in a richer gold. I probably have to use a clear coat on the kit before I start lining to make the paint flow better into the ridges. Anyhow. I will post some images when I start building the kit. Thanks for the input.
