  1. I just saw the final packaging for the Fanstoys Soar. Fanstoys made an error with the packaging so he is not an Iron Dinobot. They also changed the inner packaging from a plastic shell to styrofoam. However the toy seems to be packed lying directly on the styrofoam without any plastic foil between them. So if you are a MIB collector it might be a good idea to take it out of the box and wrap it in plastic. IIRC the styrofoam can eat itself into the paint apps of a toy.
  2. I have the old (Target exclusive?) MP-03 Skywarp be he doesn't even is on the Masterpiece shelf because in robot mode he is just not my kind of deal (sorry Kawamori). He makes a good fighter jet display. This Skywarp will stay in robot mode with the other Takara Masterpieces so I can overlook the shortcomings in alt mode.
  3. I have a preorder. The reason for it is that I only collect Skywarp variants of the seeker mold. I really hoped for a Japanese release with the coronation set and a better price. However I absolutely adore Skywarps color scheme and he is a much cooler character because he's turned into Cyclonus and not into a pile of slag in the 1986 movie. The packaging images seem to indicate that this is a Taraka release (with Takara finish) so hopefully it will turn out right unlike the Hasbro Sunstorm, Acidstorm and Thundercracker. I would probably never use the coronation set so it is probably for the best that he doesn't come with it. The price is really high and if the Asia exclusive MP-08 reissue last February (???) is any indication MP Skywarp will probably be released in the US a few month later with a green tint to it.
  4. Thanks for the tip. The background music is super distracting. Well on my crappy laptop speakers it is. With headphones on it was much better. The video is a good tutorial since he points out all the taps where pieces attach and focuses the camera on that spot. Maybe I have time to play with Diesel in the next few days after the Holiday stress goes away.
  5. Yeah the Stein is on my todo list. Does HLJ sell the Ver 3.0 waterside sheets or do I have to go through a middle man?
  6. Are any of them Ver. Ka kits? (I have a weird obsession with the Ver. Ka decals). The Gundam 3.0 looks promising but it seems it has stickers and not waterslide decals. =/
  7. Is there another Ver. Ka Master Grade kit that utilizes the Gunpla LED unit? I've ordered two sets from HLJ and I have the Nu, Hi-Nu and Sazabi so I'm looking for a fourth kit for the last LED.
  8. What happened to the Soul of Chogokin transforming Gaogaigar? It doesn't fit in my collection, I can't afford it but I would love to see some extensive video coverage of this piece.
  9. I've bought and installed the plastic knee joints from ebay. They didn't fit immediately so I widened the holes a bit with a hobby knife and shortened the springs they include with the release so the tension of the ratchets is not that high. I shortened the springs because my knee joints where already pretty stressed so I feared that the overly tight ratchets might damage them further. I opted for the plastic pieces because they have the same color than the one MP-09 comes with. Also the metal ones might grid down the plastic on the toy.
  10. Here the second post might give a hint where to start: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/635944-fansproject-stunticons-menasor-aka-m3-intimidator-2271.html I haven't read the thread yet so you might want to do some further research to see if there is more. Make sure you post your findings here.
  11. I also payed for my MP Magnus however it will stay in the hlj warehouse for two month. This gives me time to play with the MP Bumble and I have to say it is perfect for my linkings. It will probably take the first place in my Takara Transformers ranking after the Alternity cars had that spot for the last five years. The only bummer is the inconsistent yellow paint, the non rubber tires and the lack of chrome. All the downsides are there for a good reason so I'm not really mad. Having him in hand I don't see why there couldn't bee (hohoho) a trapdoor for the hands. Other than that, the transformation is fun, posing is a joy and the figure is really expressive. I really like the painted details on the turn signals and the translucent tail lights. It it a bummer that Ultra Magnus seems to have no painted detail at all. I blame the weird paint scheme on the lower legs on Mangus which stems from lazy engineering imho. A proper leg transformation would make this all obsolete imho. Now all the budget for paint goes into disguising the issues poorly. I haven't seen any video coverage of Magnus so I might be wrong. I also got the Sentine Convoy pen and while I'm not a fan of ball joint in the limbs it is also a super expressive toy. Much smaller than I expected but fun to play with.
  12. For me toys that size just don't appeal to me. They are no fun to handle and have a "cheap" feel to it because parts have to be hollow so that the joints can hold them in place. I think my FansToys Scoria is on the edge of being too big. It is almost not fun to handle and I believe that I have fairly sizable hands. Speaking of toys that are my size: After four month and a package that traveled across the globe I finally received my FansProject M³ set from TFSource (Damn you DHL *shakes fist in anger*). The figures are fun to handle, to pose and to transform. I've only messed with the cars so far but they are great toys. I can't wait for Diesel and the combined mode. Before that I have to catch up with the issues Diesel has. IIRC the mechanism to transform the torso are easy to break. So further research is needed. I also received MMCs Terminus Hexatron Continuum Edition. While the toy has a nice feel to it it doesn't fit into my Reformatted collection due to all the paint. It looks dope however. Sadly the helmet is not removable like on the previous versions so you can't switch them making the Dazzling Glory set kinda pointless. Sadly one of the ratchets for the wolf feet is scuffed up and doesn't ratchet. It is tight enough to hold any position but I know the damage is there which is a bummer. However I'm not disappointed with the toys and looking forward owning more FP and MMC toys.
  13. April is the Koenig Monster reissue.
  14. It is easy to overlook because the stand Bandai included locks the joint in the default location. So you can't even utilize it most of the time.
  15. I think the swing bar is die cast... and the screws.
  16. I'm still on the fence with the lack of painted details. I know it is accurate to the cartoon for Magnus not having tail lights but the huge areas of single color painted plastic looks distracting. Why can't all collector toys from Takara have the amount of detail and finish like the Alternity cars?
  17. Thanks I corrected that. I actually don't have a problem with the transformation itself. I love how it transforms especially since Ultra Magnus never was a white Prime with trailer armor. However I feel that the toy as a whole is not very refined. Like it needed one or two more passes over the design. While the transformation is cool stuff like the butt flap or the gaps in the shins (with the strange tree color paint job) look like the could be easily done better. Why not have a panel like on Labors lower legs in the shins to hide the gap somewhat or a piece that slides forward from the lower leg to close the gap like on the elbow joints of Maketoys Utopia. Or have a sliding joint and hinges in the butt flap to collapse the whole thing on itself? That are some solutions I came up with geeking out over a toy so I assume toy designers could come up with a much better solution. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that there was a deadline until the toy had to be finished and they need a new idea because Hasui couldn't design a prime with armor. The result is lacking. At least that is the theory I came up with lying in bed this morning thinking about Masterpiece Ultra Magnus. Jenius is right, it is very hard to get a toy right the first time. However I think Takara did a great job with MP-10 onwards (minus MP-11) and now I'm spoiled with my Masterpiece toys. Plus Star Saber looks awesome. All my issues stem the stuff like paint issues, etc. where the designer have no control over. I still like the toy because it will be the best Ultra Magnus collectors toy will ever get and I doubt Takara will give it a second attempt. Maybe an independent toy manufacturer can come up with an add-on set to fix the issues.
  18. Somehow I feel like MP Ultra Magnus is MP-05 all over again. From an interview we know that Kobayashi Yuki had little time to design Megatron (I think it was something like 12 days). The toy turned out to be not very good. Now with Ultra Magnus they stated again that Kobayashi had to take over because Hasui couldn't do a MP-10 with armor in budget/time so Kobayashi had to take over and design an all in one transformation. I assume the deadline for MP-22 wasn't extended so to me it seems like an overhasty design job. And to be honest the toy looks the part. There are questionable design choices all over the toy where they could have came up with more intricate solutions that work and look better. Granted no one has the toy in hand so this might change once it's released but I fear for an MP-05 debacle all over again. This comes from a huge Ultra Magnus fan.
  19. Images of the Iron Man suit from Age of Ultron over at CollectionDX: http://www.collectiondx.com/news_item/121514/hot_toys_iron_man_mark_xliii_avengers_age_ultron If I have the funds I might have to bite just to get the experience of handling a HT figure.
  20. Ok, I will try this with my next kit.
  21. Hm yeah, I don't know if I want them that much but thanks for the suggestion.
  22. Soooo Peaugh reviewed MakeToys Utopia: I have to say while it looks cool and all it does nothing for me. After a certain size collector toys start to feel like normal toys for kids. The parts get hollow to save weight and you don't get the intricate design I seek for in the toys for my location.
  23. Does anyone know if a company mad decals of the Botcon 2011 Stunticon insignia? This one here: I look at the Reprolabels site but didn't find anything.
  24. Make sure to post pictures if you do. I dying to know what that would look like. May I advise to use a metallic turquoise color? I also made the enlightening experience to never ever buy anything at the god awful Black Friday sale from HLJ when there is a much nicer Christmas sale right around the corner.
  25. See the problem is that I never cut in the part itself. I always cut the gate not the part but some gates are place in a way when I cut them the force will damage the part the gate is attached to. The black gun parts on the Sazabi for example. When I cut the gate the force of cutting it will cause a white stress mark in the black part which will still remain after I cleaned up the gate mark. On some parts the force of cutting even rips out a bit of plastic out of the actual part. Maybe I should buy some of them fancy Tamiya nippers but the one I have now are from a model building shop so maybe I'm doing something wrong.
