  1. Wait a sec... I'm not terribly up on Z Gundam. Are these actually episodes edited into movies, or brand new animation "retelling" the Z-Gundam story?
  2. I saw it and liked it. It was fun. That's all I have to say.
  3. Ummm... Does anyone else think the lack of helmets/headgear in Killzone is kind of really stupid?
  4. None of these pieces of crap have anything on the 4x4 Yugo!!!
  5. I think it's great. The story, while it has it's weak points, flowed better than Oshii's work. I love the guy, and he tells great stories, but his work has zero flow, which hurts a lot. I thought the cel-shaded characters vs. the cgi world was great. It roots the movie straight into it's source, ultra-realistically drawn manga with obvious manga characters. Radd- while most people think that the "convenient memory-loss" was absolutely terrible, I beg them to actually learn about how traumatic experiences can cause self-imposed amnesia, especially among children, but no less among adults. After looking at that stuff, I think you'll see it in a different light. As to the English voice actors... I thought they were OK. Sadly, it was some of the best I'ev heard, but that's not saying much (In my minf, nothing compares to the work done on Patlabor: The Movie). I really didn't care for Hitomi's voice at all, though. Overall, I think the movie was great. It lives up to the basic spirit of Appleseed.
  6. I love the shot of them over Alcatraz.
  7. To be honest with you, I think that one pic is all that exists. Anything else is conjectural, and not to be taken as "official".
  8. Must be IGN member to view. Please only post non-membership required links. You can`t save it, just watch it. BTW if you trouble just go to GUNTOA. OK. My problem is that I tried to view the QT version, but you need to be a member to see that, so I had to deal with crappy WMP. The trailer's neat and all, but unless that's in-game footage (which I doubt), it's nothing better than what we've already seen from the PS2 with FMV.

  10. Why's the damned power switch in the back again!?! It's stupid to put an electronic unit's power switch in the back like that!!! Damnit! DAMNIT!!! Dangard Ace- According the news release, The WiFI/PSP is so that the PSP can be used as a controller, with the the PSP screen giving you tactical information.
  11. So, I guess the real question is: What do you do to top these costumes on Halloween?
  12. LOL. Could be. Actually, they're Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, sons of the late pop legend Ricky Nelson. Back in 1990, the brothers (collectively known as Nelson back then) scored their first and only #1 single, "(Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection." After their debut CD After the Rain, the band went nowhere with a string of flops. And like most washed-up rock bands, the Nelson Brothers spent a great deal of their career in Japan. Today, they're on tour, performing at casinos in the U.S. and Canada. Talk about a messed-up music career... "Shut up, Beavis! Poison's not chicks; Nelson's chicks!" - Butt-head At least until quite recently, one of those chumps was living in Nashville and kept hitting on the bass player of my niece's godfather's band. She (the bass player, not my niece) would just blow him off, but it was amusing to see.
  13. No such luck there, either.
  14. Great, I spent all night downloading it, and now it won't play on either QT or VLC. What do I need to do to see this thing!?!
  15. Looks like no one is home. I just rechecked the BT links and there's still lots of Seeds , it's still alive. OK, it was the torrent program I was using that wasn't picking up anything. I switched to another and now I'm on my way.
  16. Wait a second, you ask people not to bang about ethics, and then bring it up again yourself? As to recasting kits? Most people here DO have a problem with recasting readily available kits. It's when a kit is terribly scarce (ie- limited run, OOP, etc.), to the point when even if you do find it, the price is unbearable, where recasting becomes a viable alternative. Even then there are some who have issues with recasting no matter what. The problem you seem to have is that you're cheap ("cost is ridiculous") and concerned about space ("it takes up huge space in the my cases"). Anime never has been, nor will it probably ever be, a cheap hobby. On that note, it's not terribly hard to perform a simple Google search to locate a plethora od bootleg sellers. The most difficult part will be finding one willing to ship to South Africa.

  18. I still think the legs are meant to go into the legs. The only reason the legs go into the backpack is because making a small scale, poseable toy/ sturdy, accurate model which includes a non-poseable pilot figure is to keep the pilots legs out of the way- Hence, into the backpack. When the 1/55's were made, did the design concept of the VF-1 suddenly change to accomodate the toy's clumsily large swing bars? No. The legs in backpack adaption of the toys and models are simply that, an adaptation, and, IMHO, in no way effect the canoninity (is that a word?) of the original design.
  19. I agree with most of your assessment, but I don't think it's designed with a pilot in mind, and I think the engines are still part of the tail section/backpack (which is no less realistic that the VF-22's legs taking up a large portion of where it's engines should be). It's a nifty design, and would look great with some work.
  20. I think the yellow ribbon may be a poor example. I've never heard of people selling ribbons to raise money for soldiers overseas. The yellow ribbon is a very old tradition intended to show support for our troops. Families and friends have put up yellow ribbons since (I believe) the Civil War. Yes, Walmart may sell them. . . You have to get your ribbon somewhere if you want to engage in the tradition! But any "organization" selling them as some type of "soldier's fund" is new to me. As long as they aren't over-charging, however, I don't see the harm. H perhaps over in your neck of the woods thats not the case, over here in NYC, my friggin bodega sells them not to mention just random folks on the streets, yellow ribbons, american flags, yellow wrist bands and anything else they can angle for maximum profit all in the name of charity. theres this one dude i see on the train all the time, he claims hes a pastor or something talking about raising money to feed the homeless. mind you this guy rocks a $1K movado watch and got some blingon his fingers, wrist and neck. I think there's a very big difference between some hustler on the subway and a nationally, if not internationally, known charity. Sure, there are bad seeds in the bunch, but remember that just because an organization is non-profit doesn't mean that someone is making some doughdough out of it. Even the people who run charities need to make a living.
  21. Nooooo! Stay away from terribly drawn RT images!!!
  22. A long time ago I started cleaning up the .pdf files but I stopped. I've started up again, and this time I'm also going to add some weathering and shading. Once I'm done I'm going to offer 3 versions: 1) The unshaded version. 2) The shaded, weathered version. 3) The shaded, weather version in layers so that users can create their own color schemes. Here's a sample of the original and the "optimized". Pardon the file size.
  23. I know... damn those charity events for charging so much for a good cause!!!
  24. Or as The Joker on the animated Batman, or as Christopher Blair from the Wing Commander series, or as Cockknocker from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, or as any number of voice-acting projects. He's a busy beaver.
