2. Having just re-read Starship Troopers for the umpteenth time, and happening upon some of the artwork from Qui's website and seeing his take on the powered armor, I was reminded of an idea I had long ago to see what the members of MW imagine the Mobile Infantry's Powered Armor looks like. It's obviously that Heinlein put a tremendous amount of thought into how the powered armor operates, yet each reader's imagination sees something unique. In this thread, members can post WIPs, quick drawings or detailed mechanical studies of the powered armor. As an added bonus, anything in ST is fair game in this thread, as long as it's visual (no fan stories). If you want to draw a Skinny, go for it. If you want to show the shapely, yet bald figure of Carmencita Ibanez, knock yourself out. If you'd like to visually ponder what a Queen bug might look like, be my guest. Let's keep it fun, let's keep it cool and, remember, no art posted here is bad- and any criticism must be constructive. As for me- I'm slowly but surely working on some stuff. I'm a tad busy with patent figures right now (and they are kicking my ass), but don't be afraid to be the first one to pop this thread's cherry by posting some of your Starship Troopers inspired artwork!!!
3. I have no ideas on modding, but most people I've asked say that using the magic disk+flip top package is the best since it doesn screw with the hardware.
4. Yeah, I'm using PCSX for Mac and I DL'dboth the SCPH1000 and SCPH101 Systems Bios, just in case (although I don't have them both plugged in at once). I tried converting the file from .dmg to .img but that didn't work. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to live with the memories of the game.
5. OK, someone was kind enough to seed it again and I finished up the DL (if it was someone here, thanks). Now the problem is that the file shows up as a .img on my computer (i'm on a mac) and I really don't think my psx emulator will play that type of file. Any hints?
6. Not when the subject you're posting already exists as a dedicated thread. Don't get me wrong, I empathise with your love and excitement for Sentinel, I was just posting out that the original Sentinel Love thread still exists and is a s pertinent now as it was then.
7. I'm bummed. I bought VF-X2 way back when it came out, played it, beat it, and then ended up selling it. Now I'm trying to DL it and the one seed closed up shop when I only had about 25 megs more to go. Oh well. It would've been nice to play that game again. It was awesome. The controls are quirky, but once you get used to them they're no problem whatsoever.
8. Keep the dream alive. If an Admin says the thread is official, then I guess that's where we should be discussing it. Battle of "Real Gundam" - The Official Gundam Sentinel thread
9. You know what floors me? The fact that Moscato got so tired of you bugging him for one that he whipped one of these puppies out just to shut you up. The man's skill amazes me. I wish I had the ability to do something like that just because a friend wanted one. Wow. I still cry when I think of the Legioss project. HG really stabbed themselves in the foot when they effectively killed that one.
10. It's not bad. Remember that super-uber-setailed one that Wolf13 (?) was doing back in the day? That was the best CG render of the SDF-1 I've ever seen.
11. Oh A1... not everyone can be a has-been action star with a dead-on-arrival political career!!!
12. Scratch that, I used VLC and it worked fine. Nice job. A little choppy at some points, but a thousand times better than anything I've ever tried.
13. Damn, my quicktime says I'm missing stuff to view it. What do I need!?!?
14. The one problem I had with VF5SS is that he got all bitchy and whiney when some people used some of his sprites to make fanwork derivatives of his strips. That was pretty lame.
15. WDC, you're a truly awesome artist, and you certainly know your stuff when it comes to colouring. I know you have good intentions of trying to encourage the Rusty, but I'm wondering if it's really necessary to sorta order this guy around. 316845 I thought that if he had someone who was interested and spurring him on, he would actually do it. There's nothing like "forced inspiration" to accelerate someone's skills.
16. So basically what you are saying is that in order for a person to draw mecha / anime correctly / accurately / or with relative talent they must be Japanese? That is just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. All of the artists who contribute to the Valk-Girl Thread are very talented. Oh and BTW there are plenty on non-japanese manga artists here in Japan contributing to the manga books / comics and animation. Rob 317060 Yeah, you really can't argue with that.
17. Hey, uhh... Nighttiger... Welcome to MacrossWorld!
18. OK- I'll bite: You have a good grasp of textures and base colring, but your shading leaves much to be desired. There is simply no shadows representing a uniform light source and the work suffers greatly for it. You also have a problem drawing hands, something which torments me night and day as well (hence, you almost ALWAYS see my characters making fists). For the time being, I would concentrate more on your figures and hands (hands are like a second face, as they can be so very expressive), as well as shading and lighting details. Good work, now let's get better. I want to see two brand new pictures in this thread within the month, concentrating on the areas we have specified.
19. Eh... back and forth. My wife got me a Wacom tablem for Christmas but I honestly haven't had time to use it much, at least for actual "art" (although I have been using it a bunch for my patent drafting, though). Hell- I haven't been drawing that much either. Better get my arse back at the drawing board, eh?
20. You suck, Treatment. I abstain.
21. Heehee. (edit- found out about imageshack. woohoo.)
22. Not the longest nor the most epic, I'd still pick Max vs Millia in DYRL for it's sheer speed and coolness.
23. P.S.- another thing to remember is that, after the upgrade, it seems that the screens will only show the past 30 days. You have to manually choose, at the bottom of the screen, to show posts from further back.
