Star Wars Revelations

That hurt to watch. If you feel that the acting in eps I and II are that terrible, at least you have to admit that it's "good" terrible. This acting is poo with some neat-o video agme-grade special effect thrown in. -
Note: NEVER code your Phillips 642 for Region 0 or "Regionless" as it can permanently lock up the player and you can never use it again. EVER. My buddy and I both bought a 642 and he tried Region 0 on his and, slam, locked up for good. The safest route is to constantly recode your player depending on which region the DVD your playing is for (it's terribly easy). My one qualm about the 642 is that it REally?!! I have 3 of them in my house and all of them are set to "0" same with all my friends err.. I'll keep this in mind, you know there's an update firmware, right? Oops. My mistake. It's the Phillips DVD727 which can lock up like that.

Top Gun 2000!!! I can see it now, once again there will be recruiters waiting to sign up young men as they leave the theater!

Just for the record, I am in no way defending the heinous war-crimes, or the fact Japan started a war in the first place. But the problem is that some people seem to still be punishing the Japanese for the crimes of their fathers, just as many people still adamantly blame the Germans for the Nazi atrocities. The Japanese of today are legitimately afraid of nuclear holocaust because they saw the effects of it on their very own people. Cultural and National memory can go for a long time. Just as American children will be seeing the effects of the Gulf War, 9/11 and the Iraq War, the Japanese have been living with the effects of being bombed by atomic weapons. Still, this movie looks cool. p.s.- Major Johnathon- 3000 people in 90 minutes... that IS a lot to absorb. But terrorist attacks around the world kill much more than 3000 people a year and yet it's never noticed because 1) It doesn't all happen at once, and 2) It's not here in America.

Godzilla- I think that pearl Harbor didn't receive a favorable opening because it was a crappy movie!!! I think it's fair for Japanese to feel victimized by the atomic bombings, as they were the first and only to be attacked in such a way. America wasn't the first country to be attacked by terrorism, yet after 9/11 many Americans were bitching and moaning as if no one else in the the world could possibly understand our pain. Being the victims of nuclear attack is a dubious honor the Japanese alone can hold, I think they have every right to a sense of victimization. Anyhow, I think this movie looks neat.

That's one of the reasons I think this may be more than a simple war movie. There's the one part where the American says: "It seems the Witch is carrying some type of secret weapon." Maybe the secret weapon isn't mechanical in nature, the name of the ship means more than what it seems and that is why the woman is one the ship. Hmmm... ???

Lorelei trailer Has anyone heard of this movie? I din't understand a word of Japanese, so I haven't the faintest clue of what's going on, but it seems to have some sci-fi elements to it, especially in an aerial shot of a bunch of surface ships being pulled sideways (towards the end). Anyone have an idea?

Most plausible mecha designs
the white drew carey replied to GobotFool's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Blassty!!! I do like a lot of the Gasaraki and Patlabor designs. I think the Landmates as shown in the early Appleseed comics take the cake though. I thought they looked great in the movie, but were a little too nimble compared to what I imagined. Oh well. -
Great moments in anime....done in MS Paint
the white drew carey replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I admit I used Photoshop for mine, but that doesn't mean I didn't stay true to the concept. I dumbed it down by setting the DPI at 72, making my image 600x300, and I didn't use any Photoshop tricks. Everything you see is hand-drawn. On a side note- maybe some people should use spell check and punctuation. -

I like my wookies tall and lanky. These wookies look like Harry with their barrel-chests. -
Macross Calendar 97 and PS2 game image

Does anyone else think that the mecha in most of those pictures are done very poorly? I mean "RT Comics" type poorly. -
And no one has yet mentioned the fact that the mecha from Eureka 7 seems to be surfing around everywhere?
-
Nor drawn well. Thats one opinion. IMHO, I like some of it but overall I respect their style. But when it comes down to it, I'm for anything that could bring in Macross fans... even if its through Robotech. No, that's a LOT of opinions!!! They really aren't drawn well. The coloring is flashy, which makes them look much "better" than they really are. Sadly, this is a trick many comic companies use these days to cover up shoddy artwork. Look at this image and try to tell me that it doesn't have terrible perspective isseus, not to mention laziness when they finally got to the stabs and whatnot.

I thought it meant there was going to be a cameo by the band WAR. -
Yeah. Warren sucks. He has devolved Kei and Yuri into approximations of 80's hair metal groupies.
