  1. I noticed that ChristopherB has included a link in his signature which is in regards to a popular political group, and I was curious: I know that political discussion is a big no-no around here. But are signatures open ground for displaying and or announcing your political views and beliefs?
  2. Surprisingly, someone has created a back story to the Mig 28: Hmmm...
  3. All joking aside... It's Top Gun. Do you really think they gave this Mig 28 that much backstory?
  4. I just lost A LOT of respect for Arnold. "The Oak", or "The Joke"? Arnold lies about his youth in Austria for a pat on the head at the RNC.
  5. in my last post, I changed what I wanted to ask of the locals here. I don't want to break the rules so I asked a different question. It's in my quote. --- and for the record, the tech involved is One Year War level Gundam... so aside fromt he MA Elmeth there are no bits or funnels, and there is no Spiritu music-stuff. Just old school MAcross and old school Gundam. It's not VS. it a tech swap... a sort of "how would either side change if they met" not "who would win". I don't care who would win, I'ma tech geek and I'm more interested in what things look like when different rules collide. I know many of you don't like mixing rules cause it often makes for confusion... it's easier if you test all tech trees and technology by what we know scientifically today. You can trace a sci-fi tech back to what inspired it in our modern ideas and sciences. Once you make that connection with real-reality, then the rules all become compatable... but it requires some reining in, and some solidifying of fuzzy concepts. I'm not looking for a fight or a vs... I just just want to discuss this stuff. - Simply put- You're asking how the ASS-1 would have affected the Gundam U.C. Universe if it had crashed in, say UC0078? You see, most of us don't like to think too hard. It hurts. I get where your coming from. But as a personal rule I never, ever mix, and/or debate, two different concepts, even within the same genre. It's like asking how Gandalf would've acted if he went through that damned wardrobe. It's anything goes, so discussion would be so varied and nothing would ever really come of it. p.s. Welcome to MacrossWorld!!!
  6. 17 out of 17. I'm kind of a cheater, though. I know my Transformers, and I used to work at a hospital pharmacy.
  7. p.p.s.- If we're going to give honorable mentions to possibly fictitious figures from religion, why aren't we mentioning Lucifer himself? You've got to have pretty big cajones to take on the CREATOR OF EVERYTHING!!!
  8. 1) I can't believe you put Charlton Heston in the same tier as the Almighty McQueen!!! Heston, while appearing tough on screen, is actually a big pussy. 2) I can't believe you put Steve McQueen so low!!! Sure, in The Great Escape, he didn't do "the jump" but he did just about all the rest of his stunts. The man lived and breathed speed. 3) Where the hell is Jack Pallance on your list? Any man who could make Ripley's Believe It or Not tough has to be on that list!!! p.s.- The "Oak" hasn't done anything good in years. To own the top of the list, I really think one must have consistency as well as toughness.
  9. I didn't get to see any Mzero until the third episode, and re-watched them all once the fourth was released (and subbed). I must say that it does flow much better watching them all at once. I think when 5 is finally released, it'll be an interesting experience to see them all in a row. So far, I think this series lives up to the Macross name. My only issue thus far is some shoddy animation in ep4.

  11. I'm probably the opposite- If a toy is bad, or looks bad, I simply won't buy it. No matter how much a fan of the franchise I am. The initial sculpt of the VF-0 looked bad due to the large hip joints, but if the recent images I've seen are an actual refinement, I might just pick one up.
  12. Don't ask me- She blows chunks, too!
  13. Allow me to be the first naysayer... (ducks all the projectiles) I'm sorry, but I've seen 1) Many, many more attractive/beatiful/cute looking women, 2) Much, much better actresses and 3) Way, way better women doing fight scenes. Jennifer Garner must have gotten some kind of genie wish or something, because she sucks. She couldn't act herself out of a high school rendition of Our Town! Plus- her face is all lumpy, her eyes are set under this huge neanderthal brow and her boobs even aren't that big or built well (although I've heard her mention in interviews not, once, not twice, but three times how great she thinks her breasts are). And don't get me started on Alias... I'll pass on Jennifer Garner as Elektra, just like I passed on Affleck as Daredevil.
  14. For me, it wasn't the special effects or action that killed Reloaded and Revolutions for me, it was the lame story. I mean, they really screwed it up!!! What TWDC would've done: It turns out there is no Zion. The "real world" is actually another level of the the matrix used to keep those extra smart humans who question their existence in the loop while making them think that they've escaped the machines. This would be a much better explanation for why Neo was still able to stop the sentinels at the end of Reloaded, or why Smith could move himself into the "real world". Reloaded still had potential, but Revolutions killed the whole thing. Neo being carted away reverently by the machines at the end, give me a break!!! The Wachowski Bros. hit upon a neat idea with the Matrix, but completely killed their credibility with the sequels.
  15. The story I heard is that Miramax wanted to release a pared down version of the film because western audiences wouldn't get a lot of the eastern stuff. Tarantino said that would be stupid and lobbied for the full-release (but not the director's cut). Miramax countered and told Tarantino that if they could put "Tarantino Presents" on the film (therefore using his name recognition to fill seats, and make more money) they would leave it intact. That's what I heard. I'm not sure if it's true, but I've seen that explanation in several places already.
  16. One thing I hate and have always hated in movies is unrealistic, exagerated, over-the-top combat scenes, whether it be hand-to-hand combat, sword fights or gunfights. Personally, I think that showing realistic skill in any of the martial arts or combat disciplines is far cooler than 'wirework' martial arts or John Woo style jumping through the air in slow motion firing two pistols at once. It's just a pity there are so few actors or directors capable of displaying/filming realistic skill at arms these days. Graham While I agree with your statement, I also don't really think of flying kung-fu (never "wire-fu") as a true representation of martial arts. But I still think it's cool. Like chicken. And I loooove chicken. For me, it all comes down to presentation. You can have one of the best martial artists in the world, but when you put him in a dumb movie with bad plot, script, story or cinematography, it can really hurt the presentation of the skills.
  17. I'd have to completely disagree. I'd rather see completely unexplained flying kung-fu like Crouching Tiger, Hero, The Swordsman or (one of the best, and funniest) Fong Sai Yuk, over the bumper crop of really bad "real" kung-fu flicks that come out every year. Flying Kung-Fu is, for me, one of the most fantastical of the martial arts genres and, when done right, can yield some great classics. Sure, it's completely unrealistic but hey, we're hanging out at, and/or admin, a forum based on the premise of alien technology granting us transformable F-14's!!! So, in summation, Graham- you are wrong. And he's right that Ying Xiong (Hero) was released in 2002. Regionless DVD's can be found about on the internet.
  18. FAVORITISM BY THE MODS!!!! I've found it: TWDC's F-18 sound barrier thread. My thread didn't even last 4 replies (or 3 hours), and this was in the middle of the night.
  19. Hey, I posted that picture a way long time ago (I even made up a lame "story" about the navy testing fold engines), but it got locked right quick.
  20. Any news on a possible DVD release date? I want to see this movie!
  21. That was my first thought, too! The hips on the VF-0 look much, much better than before!!! I might actually buy one if that's what the production model looks like.
  22. It's almost impossible to watch the whole thing, it hurts so much.
  23. No way!!! Yah-weh!!!
  24. I thought that game was terrible when I was a kid. It sucks!!! A1's losing his cool!!!
