It is rather disappointing to me that the Destroids have not been featured more in Macross, but then again SK is all about the VFs - he didn't do the Destroids. Most of the M:SDF era Destroids were designed by Kazutaka Miyatake.

I think a Macross "Western" could be very cool. Set it on a backwards colony planet with a limited resources. Small town must defend itself again bandits, alien creatures, and Zentraedi "gone native" with a handful of destroids and VFs fixed in battroid form. The hollywood shorthand would be "Deadwood with mecha and giant aliens."

I'm not connected to the right server or I don't have the right permissions or something because I see only my nick in the right pane... Okay I retried it manually ["Get an IRC application. Open it and type “/server irc.rizon.net” then “/join #thoranime”.] connecting to server and joining channel - now I'm in. I'm not sure why it doesn't work with mIRC's "wizards" but it seems to be working if typed. Huzzah!

I'm using mIRC 6.35 As I said I can connect to THORA. I get the message "Now Talking on #THORAnime@irc.rizon.net" But I'm the only one on the user list. And if I send "/msg THORA|Thunder xdcc send 289" I get "No such Nick/Channel" Maybe I'll try a different client. It's like I'm on the wrong server but the name appears to be correct.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I've never got a handle on mIRC. I downloaded the client and tried the advice on the previous page and found nada. Anyone want to hold my hand thru this? I can log onto #THORAnime@irc.rizon.net . When I try and register is says No Nickserver ; when I try and go to Thunder channel it says no such channel. How do I navigate to the channels where I find the fileserver?

I started a topic inquiring about the state of fan subs for Mac7 and MacF and it was deleted. Are we not supposed to talk about fansubs anymore? The last re-done [VIP] Mac7 dubs I've been able to get were 28-32 back in January. The last MacF BD rip appeared in February. Anyone have any news? Is the last MacF BD actually available yet?

Re Exedol in Macross 7 Episode 37 Mystery of the Ruins. Yes I realize the VF-11s in that one screen cap are behind Exedol. Here are a couple more shots of Exedol showing the Valkyries in close proximity to him and the huge helicopter supporting him. He is shown at least 3-4 Valkyrie heights big. Exhibit A Exedol in Flight. It's a small picture, but one can see he appears as tall as the heli-lifter that is carrying him. Notice how close the escort VFs are - about arms length. Exhibit B The grounded heli-lifter. It's 4-5 Valks long itself - huge! A king-sized lifter like this would not be needed if Exedol were about one valk big like a "normal" Zentraedi. Yes it's artistic license but I wish they were a bit more consistent.

Here is that WTF moment from Macross 7. How big does Exedol have to be to dwarf the VF-11's like that? It looks like his head by itself is about as big as a Valkyrie.

I'd be keen to see this too. I've been really getting into the remaster+VIP resubbed version.

We discussed that at length in a thread I started last year. I don't think we reached a consensus. Some like you Zin thought it did not fit for various reason. Others including me didn't see much of a problem slotting it into the main timeline. The only real impediment is SK who doesn't want to be creatively impeded by it. So I don't think it's ever going to be revisited except thru Macross Chronicles and similar documentary projects.

I'd love to see Mac II revisited or at least brought into the universe as canon. But I'm not holding my breath....

I tried three or four times before I got all the way through it. I got annoyed with it initially because it wasn't following a conventional narrative path but neither do SDF:M or M:F. It was easy to dismiss the animation and mecha designs when viewing the grainy tv captured versions. Current viewers have the advantage of the new remastered DVD rips. It's a long journey of discovery, but it's worth it to understand the context of Macross Zero and Macross Frontier. And the music has grown alot on me over the years though I still prefer Macross II songs and the Frontier OST

I think my biggest WTF moment around Zentraedi height is in the Macross 7 episode about the lost Protoculture base. Exsedol goes to the base in person - IIRC he's suspended under 2 helicopters and accompanied by a couple gerwalks - and he appears to be 4-5 time the height of a Valkyrie! And he's a short Zentran. ??? indeed.

Yeah, get the...wait a minute! Just because the Tomahawk is bristling with guns and the Defender is a glorified bofors AA gun doesn't mean the Tomahawk is "better". Okay, I'd get the Tomahawk too. But I'd definitely get the Defender over the Spartan.

My experience sadly is that if your computer doesn't have the horsepower to properly render the the video as an .mkv, it probably will choke trying to convert it. 22 minute SD .mkv's play fine on my PC but longer in HD ones lose their sound sync. I can't say I've had much luck with mkv2vob or other converters on the PC. They either choke or don't render the subs. I've had some success with mkvtools under OS X but it's hit or miss too. I think I just need a newer computer! Maybe I'll give mkv2vob a try again...

Wasn't it established that Galaxy Fleet's City ship was called Mainland? I guess that's just supposition but it seemed clear that Sheryl assumed that Galaxy was lost when "Mainland" allegedly went down to the Vajra.
