You mean The MONKEES -
Macross Ace Frontier for the PSP.

So I'm misinterpreting GG's comment amount remote play - if he can play VF-X2 on his PSP it's because he can play it on his PS3. Nothing magic about that. -

The PS3 won't play PS1 games from disk at all as far as I know. I'm responding to someone who said he play his PS1 games ie VF-X2 on the PSP via remote play. Maybe we could get clarification on how he did this. G Gemini - any special instructions? is your PS3 or PSP modded? Doesn't sound like it. Is it a Singaporean PSP or a North American one? -

Sold! I'll get a PSP just to try out my VF-X2. -
Oh god I just bought the 1/48 VF-1A Angel Birds ver.
DestroidDefender replied to syn13's topic in Toys
That's a great price for the Angle Bird but I don't have any 1/48 and I don't think I want to start collecting them. The VF-0A is pretty tempting though. The cracked shoulder are worrisome. -
Crazy talk? How about this to explain how the SDF-1 gets from Earth to Galleria 4 in the short time since Mac+... Mac+ never happened. Like MacII it was "all a dream".

I took my 4 year old to see it today. What a great film. I've liked most of the Pixar movies especially The Incredibles and I'm a sucker for plucky robots. I get a lump in throat when R2 goes out to repair the Naboo Royal Starship in The Phantom Menace. This one was a natural for me. I'd be in the market for some toys but I have not seen any yet at the Disney Store or TRU. VERY!

I understand completely KlanForever, I mean MisaForever. I don't prefer them but the fansubbers seem to find them the easiest format to produce.
-
All the codec/players you need to watch MKV are free and easy to find. I can watch them on my PC and my Mac. But I understand all the different standards and formats can make it more trouble than it's worth. But if you do find a way to play MKV there are hundreds of anime downloads you can view including the remastered Macross 7, DYRL, & Macross +. I just spent about a day trying to find an MKV to MP4 convert that actually worked so I can stream the videos to my PS3.

Just to be clear it's not on DVD with Subtitles in English. There is a recent remastered version on DVD with Japanese audio that been captured and the old fansubs have been attached to it. That's what you'll find as a download or torrents. The picture is as clean as you can expect for DVD video. I think the subbers have got up to #15 re-old-subbed. Pictures on this thread link

Macross Frontier News Thread III *Read 1st post*
DestroidDefender replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
In some services WOs are NCOs, some they are intermediate between NCO and COs. In the US I believe Chief WOs count as commissioned since they actually do receive an official presidential officers commission. In the Canadian Army/Air Force WOs are the senior NCOs equivalent to a US Army Master Sergeant or US Navy CPO. In the US Forces the Warrant Officer is a kind of recognized "specialist" with skills not found in enlisted personnel but without general officer and command training. Within the fictional frame of Macross I can certainly see recruit pilots being given the rank WO. I believe most US Army helicopter pilots are/were WOs. -
The Paper plane flashback was on a colony ship - I remember noticing specifically the faint white line grid in the sky. Alto's family probably came aboard MacF for the launch when he was very young.

What I need is something to crack chihiro's MKV and extract the sub file as an SRT. Then I think the converter I'm using can append the SRT to the MP4. Anybody know a free MKV exracter? UPDATE: I've found a good program on the Mac called MKVTools that does conversion without having to extract and juggle the subs file. If you get the settings right it converts the MKV to an MP4 at full rez with embedded subs. There is a small issue with the size of subs if you have mplayer installed. I've used it to make MP4s of the Chihiro and Gattai subs to play on my PS3. Works quite well and it's free/donation ware.
-
I'm enjoying the whole thing - the characters, mecha, music, & intrigue. I just can't imagine it being resolved in only a dozen more episodes. My only nitpick is I wish Chihiro would stop translating Ranka's manager/agent as "president" especially since the President (Glass) is a different character - they've done that 2 or 3 times now.
-
Alright then I suppose we have to go. Full Cosplay gear it is. I'll be a fat bald Basara.
-
I think Chihiro is the best fit for me of those that are left. I've even had some luck converting their MKV to MP4 at full HD rez - I just can't ge the subtitle file to carry over.

I was considering going but I'm getting a bad vibe from the advertising. I have a feeling it's not a celebration or real objective look at game/comic/anime culture - it feels like the usual derisive point and shout "Look at the geeks!" approach. It's not okay to present sports fans or opera lovers as weird outsiders but it's acceptable to look down of SF fanboys? Plus I just don't like the VAG on principle. VAG gets the great old building and the Vancouver Centennial Museum get diddly. Like you guys care about the history of Vancouver Museum. Sorry for the rant. At least they are showing Macross and not Gundam....

Macross 7 Remastered w/ Subs
DestroidDefender replied to HannouHeiki's topic in Movies and TV Series
Accepted MM. I was probably thinking the captures were from HDTV or BD. Obviously there is no HD version of M7 (though I read the first BD Macross Frontier disk is available now). While corrected subs with consistent names would be nice I can't see subbers taking the time to redo the 50+ episodes. I could live with the old subs attached to the remastered video/audio. The challenge now seems to be a lack of seeds for the remastered/old-subbed M7.- 347 replies

Sounds very cool. I'll wait to see if any other platforms are announced before I run out and get a PSP. -
Macross 7 Remastered w/ Subs
DestroidDefender replied to HannouHeiki's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yeah, you're right. I should know that. I guess you schooled me, there big man. DVDs only have 720x480 resolution. Asinine? That's a bit harsh. Things are pretty friendly here usually. Oh this is a MACROSS 7 thread...never mind.- 347 replies

Macross 7 Remastered w/ Subs
DestroidDefender replied to HannouHeiki's topic in Movies and TV Series
I think I've found the VIP remastered episodes but they are still only 720x480. Whats the point in doing a low-rez rip of a "remastered" DVD? EDIT Okay the above images look good compared to the old downloads, but still....- 347 replies

Which version of Macross Plus do you prefer?
DestroidDefender replied to ShizumaRobo's topic in Movies and TV Series
Valkyrie pwn the buildings until 2080 when the MarkI SuperSWAG Facade is developed. KER BONG = flat Valkyrie. -
Which version of Macross Plus do you prefer?
DestroidDefender replied to ShizumaRobo's topic in Movies and TV Series
I don't blame the characters. The characters are extremely well realized. I blame the writers for giving them a contrived reason for going to Earth when there is a much a more important reason - stop Sharon. That's my kick against Macross Plus. Almost every other aspect of the production, animation music, etc. is excellent in both OAV and movie. The story seems less forced in the movie so I guess the movie gets my vote though I miss the mecha action from the OAV.
