  1. It's looked to me like Island 1 and all the remaining habitation islands were making a ditch landing on Vajraworld. I believe their journey is at an end! They will survive and come to an accommodation with the Vajra. But it does all seem quite rushed. I think I said back about episode 16 I didn't think they had time to wrap things up adequately....
  2. Since I started this thread I thought I'd drop in and see where it's going. The discussion is interesting but it's veered back into well covered territory. If you read my initial question, I'm aware of SK/Studio Nue's non involvement. I'm not asking if Mac II is canon or why it's not canon. I"m asking if there is anything definitive in the actual on screen narrative in Mac II that makes it impossible to reconcile it with "canon" Macross. I have not yet heard anything that negates the possibility it could be canon if the creators chose to recognize it. I don't accept arguments that Earth doesn't look right or the composition of the fleet doesn't match expectations. The last time we saw Earth was when Isamu trashed Macross City in Mac+ in 2040. We don't see Earth in Mac 7 or Mac F. Since there is no evidence to the contrary I don't see why Earth in 2092 could not look like it does Mac II.
  3. It's hard to tell but the I have the Dark Horse Phalanx and this kit looks like it could based on it even though the torso is one piece. But it might be an original sculpt too. Since I've got the Nichimo's, the Dark Horse Phalanx, the Matchbox diecast Monster and gashpon Q-Rau, I think I have everything SDF in 1/200 except the Nosjadeul-Ger and the Gnerl. What I'd really like is a bucket full of the gashpon Regults for wargaming with.
  4. I tried Xvid4PSP. Looks slick. Took 9 hour overnight to make an PS3 format mp4 out of SA Delculture ep1. It did the hard subs alright but the output was 1/4 the size of HD original and the video was pixelated crap. I used the built in setting for PS3. What settings did those of you who got it to work use?
  5. And if you're over 30 its: Vajra = Zerg = Tyrannids=Aliens And if you're closer to 40 its Vajra = Zerg = Tyrannids=Aliens=Bugs (from the novel Starship Troopers) There is no such thing as a new. It's what you do with it that matters.
  6. I'd love a Macross OVA about Love Triangles. Rock & Roll and Destroids!
  7. No. Good Lord lets NOT go there. Actually you could also list all the commonalities between MacF and Mac II, but we all know he's "never seen it" wink wink nudge nudge. With all the stuff that's been done with singing/spiritia/song energy influencing the Vajra, etc. MacII's Marduk and Emulators now seem very consistent to me with the Macross universe as a whole. I think what I enjoy the most about MacF are the connections with the other Macross series.
  8. CPU is a 1.82Ghz athlon w/ 1G ram. Running XP SP3 I re-regged CCCP and confirmed the overlay setting in MPC. Still the same - the sound doesn't cut in until 6 second after the video stream starts playing. It's not just the HD MacF files. Even TV episodes of ROD or Mac7 do the same thing. And it's the same with ZoomPlayer or MPC. This used to work!? In trying to convert videos for the PS3 & PSP I've probably installed one too many amateur made apps and broken something.
  9. Since you seem to know about these things Creamyhorror let me ask you this. When I try and playback .mkv's on my PC the sounds is out of sync with the video stream. This seem to be a problem with all the PC players but the same .mkv's play fine on my mac. I've tried digging thru the codecs and looking for updates but I don't really know what I'm doing. Is this a known problem with an easy fix?
  10. MKVTools on the Mac actually embeds the subs this very easily. But the MP4 it turns out is sometimes unplayable on the PS3 or the video stream is truncated. I've read the instructions above but I'm not clear what one actually does with the AVS file. Do you select that as the input file for PS3 Video 9?
  11. It's been pretty dependable up until now but the subbers we have left seem to be coding the lyrics with the same timings as the dialog. I switched (on Mac) to using MKVtool to open the file and play it with mplayer - this worked fine showing the lyric on above the subs until mplayer crapped out about 10 minutes into episode 16. All my mkv' s seem to have sound sync problems when I play them on my PC. Same files play Ok on the Mac. Some I guess it's my PC set up but my CCCP is okay so, I dunno. If some one knows how to launch mplayer by itself with a command to play the subs let me know!
  12. I said ROM format memory stick Keith. To erase that they'd have to deliberated degauss it somehow. It certainly could be done and would be practice now that 4G memory sticks are $40.
  13. I've been fighting with this for a couple months now. I want to format the episodes for the PS3 and serve them from my PC. The same format on saved on a data DVD should play on a PS3 too. After weeks of hair pulling (which I can ill afford) I have Macross 7 #1-15 and all Frontier except DeC, 2,3 & 5 playing on my PS3. But I have not found anything for the PC that actually works to transcode the video and embed the subs and keep the HD resolution. For the mac I've had some success with MKVTools. But it's hit or miss. It did all the VIP Macross 7 remastered episode perfectly. For Frontier it did most of the Chihiro's, Lunars and some of the Gattai's. About half the time the video ends up truncated and unusable. It does render the subs very nicely though. Sometimes when the MKVtools made mp4 doesn't work on the PS3 I can reprocess it with one of the PC converters (since the subs are already in the video stream) and make some thing that works on the PS3. That would be with Hand Brake or PS3 Video 9. I wish I knew more about the process so I knew why some subbers mkv's would convert and some would bork but its all very frustrating. I do know if you make them into an orthodox DVD file then you are down sampling them to 1040x480i - Standard TV resolution. best of luck!
  14. For other Canadians, I'm getting mine through Sophia Books in Vancouver. For me that's a local pick up but it might work for some of you too. I'd be surprised if there wasn't an import book store like Sophia in Toronto.
  15. Re: The Megaroad/SDF/Macross: Global controversy The more we look back at the brief colonization map sequence from the opening intro, the less sense it makes and more convoluted it becomes to explain. As much as I'd like to have a labeled diagram of all the fleets in the post SW1 era, I think it was just meant to be a couple seconds of eye-candy. Yeah it's on screen and therefore "canon" but it just doesn't make any sense.
  16. Yes - did a network update as soon as I unboxed it last week. I don't know if it a bug is some games or the PSP OS itself but apparently I'm not the only one who gets this error. If I have over 2G free space on the memory stick then both of my games report "insufficient memory" and won't write/read saved games. If I fill up the memory stick so there is less than 2G free, they save fine. While the PSP is pretty cool when I can get it to do what it's supposed to do, I can't really understand the point of the UMD. A game on UMD is $40 and Memory Stick is $40. Why not ditch the UMD and sell software on Memory Stick? The answer, I guess, is the UMDs are cheap to make and, as always, whole Digital Rights thing. It still seem stupid to me though. Sell the games/movie in a ROM format memory stick.
  17. Okay I think I've figured it one. It's not that the PSP won't write to the MStick. It's a bug where if you have more than 2G free on the MStick, the PSP can't cope and reports 'insufficient memory' for save. The fix is easy - just fill up the MStick so there is <2G free space. PSP fix Linkee Worked for me.
  18. I tried reformatting it and I copied over the folders and saved games from my 256m memory stick. Nothing changed. The PSP will still play the movies but it refuses to save games (either of the games I have anyway). I think the PSP just doesn't like the Ultra II fast memory. I should have gotten the one labeled for the psp use but I couldn't see anything on-line or in the psp manual that said it would not work. It half works. Eh. for $40 I'll get the other one and then I won't have to swap chips during my trip. Converting movies and having them work is another nightmare. I've had some success with PSP Video 9 and Hand Brake but neither of them seems to embed subtitles so not much help for anime. On the mac I've had some luck with mkvtools converting for the PS3 but it only work 1/2 the time.
  19. I got myself a PSP anticipating the Macross game and I got 4g sandisk Ultra II memory stick for video and saves. Only I can't save games to it. I can watch videos stored on it but #^@%$ Sony have somehow locked out saving to it. So - even though you can buy the 50% faster 'Ultra II' Memory Stick Duo Pro 4G for the same price as the Sandisk 4G Gaming (ie PSP) Memory Stick Duo Pro - Don't Do It! Unless you want to be like me and be swapping chips in and out. I could go and get the 'Gaming' memory stick but this is the latest in a long line of Sony non-compatibility piss offs.
  20. That was in Macross II, but a similar set up in City 7 was depicted in the Macross 7 Trash manga.
  21. I know my PS3 (80G version) does not mention PS(1) compatibility just PS2 (hence my assumption). I'm guessing to mod a PSP to play PS2 games w/o using a PS3 server you'd have to install a mod chip that would read PS2 disc images from the Memory Stick chip. Am I right, GG?
  22. They exist Dammit. Listen to the radio noise at the beginning of TMP "Calling Dreadnought USS Entente NCC-2120" And the Battle 25 is not smaller than previous New Macross class battleships - it's just that Island 1 is much bigger than the previous Macross City type vessels.
  23. If we're going to "pie in the sky" here I want a Macross MMO set on a colony similar to Macross Frontier fleet with different zones to explore on foot/vehicle for shopping entertainment training etc., outside space zones for combat, and planetary zones for exploration. It would have cutting edge graphics, music and allow gamers to customize their characters and play as merchants, researchers, designers, explorers, singers or soldiers. Game play experience would include Resource management, FPS challenges, Music/rhythm minigames, and Mecha action, naturally. But we know we'll see a Gundam MMO before we ever see Macross. Heck even Star Wars tanked as an MMO.
  24. So I'm misinterpreting GG's comment amount remote play - if he can play VF-X2 on his PSP it's because he can play it on his PS3. Nothing magic about that.
