Those missing paints apps are rather egregious, and the sword looks incredibly meh. I really want a Netflix Voltron, but I honestly don't like either the monster 16" figure or this guy. Of the two, I'd agree this looks more manageable and quality overall, but there's still so many little things that irk me. The lack of a joint in Black Lion's ears is really dumb, tiny, but very annoying to me, but the worst offender is the lack of wing articulation, I just can't even consider a Voltron at this price point that has omitted that. I highly doubt Chogokin will bother, he's not OG Voltron, so I'm really bummed I may never add a decent Netflix Voltron to my collection.

Nice write-up on the FT bugs, but I gotta say, as much as I usually champion and praise FT, I still think the BC bugs are the better deal. There are bits of each FT bug that I think looks a bit better then its BC counter-part, but none of it adds up to me liking any one of them more then the BC counter-parts overall. Plus, dat price though. I've only handled FT Mercenary and I personally found the die-cast to be distracting and far too liberally used. I like me some die-cast here and there, but these tiny little guys have way too much of it IMO. I just wouldn't be willing to pay for, or track down the FT bugs, BC got the price right, and they are readily available.- 9275 replies

Of course some of us did! I nabbed DragonBall Goku, 3 ANIME Zaku I units, my Hi-Metal R VE-1, Figuarts Kingdom Hearts King Mickey, and all four of the two pack sets of the Last Jedi Figuarts. I wasn't going to get the executioner, but I'm weak, so I grabbed the two pack with the other third random Pretorian dude. They all look good, especially Phasma, her cape doesn't look as long and cumbersome, plus she's actually shiny like she should have been in the first release. I still can't tell if her cape bit is soft goods or not, even if it isn't, like I said, it's smaller then the previous version so it shouldn't nearly totally kill her articulation.

New Phasma is a buy, so is Rey and new Kylo, pass on the executioner. I'll get one of each Praetorian instead of 3 of each like I do most CF units, they just don't interest me enough. And if the plain-jane stormtroopers are in two packs then I'll have to get two two packs, I love me some generic stormtroopers, the swappable pauldrons help shake things up a bit.

Got more stuff in, including my second Badcube Evil Bug Value Pack, aka MP Insecticons. Beautiful figures, I usually champion FansToys but I personally think BadCube beat them out here. Spidey is cool, I get that a lot don't like his really broken up appearance, but it works, he's crazy articulated. The Hi-Metal line continues to impress, the Defenders are pretty much exactly what I wanted. -

So I'm not sure when this happened, but I noticed last night that a number of different Chinese Ebay sellers are apparently dumping stock of ACE-01 and ACE-02, aka MP Cliffjumper and Hubcap. I've heard very meh to downright bad things about these guys, but honestly, at $35 shipped, I took a shot on ACE-01. I don't really know what caused this, they didn't release too long ago, are these sellers that eager to dump stock? Is there too much stock? Were these made in too large of quantities and they just aren't selling? Are these sellers expecting X-Transbots CJ to pop up sometime soon? I'm not sure, nor do I care really, for $35, ACE-01 can be my MP CJ even if he is loose or crappy, that's a decent price for a crappy figure IMO. I also saw another site is selling buy one get one free on both ACE-01 and ACE-02 for like $63, I'll have to find the link again. It seems like everyone is trying to dump these guys for cheap right now, it makes their initial retail price even more embarrassing. Who thought $60+ for such small, relatively crappy figures, would actually get these to move?- 9275 replies

I'm in for one for consistency, I've got at least one of everything else in the line, even the fairly derpy missile effects. Not my favorite valk, not by a long shot, I always thought the VE-1 and VT-1 were quite fugly. Deciding not to get that absurdly over-priced SDF-1 PF freed up quite a bit of money for me too recently, thinking of hunting down extra stand alone packs for some of my brownies, and I guess I MIGHT get two of these, doubtful, but maybe.

Game of Thrones TV talkback thread. BOOK READERS STAY OUT.
Tking22 replied to peter's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Definitely filled with spectacle, but overall, I'm really starting to dislike the show. This new break-neck pace was really evident in last night's episode, to the point that it is incredibly distracting for me, and it is ruining the story. I get it, it's just an expensive fantasy show, but still, the amount of Goku-level instant transportation that was happening was down right awful. I found this very helpful map last night that showed all of the traveling that went on in one episode, it makes it look like an even bigger joke. Once again, I get it, few episodes left, gotta burn through the story, but still, this is absurd. Gendry is the Flash, Dragons are the Flash, ravens are the Flash.- 316 replies

Still nothing from AmiAmi for my 3 Defenders, not even a payment request, I guess they are getting their stock absolutely last.

And just like that I pre-ordered the Spidey and Iron Man set, Dark Knight Batpod, and Side Labor Patlabor Unit 3 all in one go. It's like pulling off a Band-Aid, you just gotta do it quick and get it over with.

I wouldn't shy away if you're into the design, there's no denying Takara/Hasbro nailed these things aesthetically, it just seems like a fairly mixed bag. The Hasbro releases could be nicer for Prime, I've heard roughly the same things about HAsbro Bee though. I see a lot of people focusing the hate on the Hasbro part of the Hasbro/Takara partnership, but honestly, Takara's name is on these just the same, they clearly okayed them before production, so I hold them just as accountable for the number of bad releases out there that people are receiving. Also, Bee is appearing at Toys R Us here in the US as of about a week ago, I saw one when I was on lunch going to grab an MMPR Legacy Power Sword. I can't deny that MPM Prime looks better then the old ROTF Leader Prime, but I've honestly dropped my ROTF Prime like three times and he's still aces, plus I upgraded him with Cubex's transforming gas tank cannons, so he still works for me. Maybe if Takara/Hasbro put out a ROTF updated MPM Prime I'd bite, but it's just sounding a bit too mixed for me to jump on these at this price point.- 17115 replies

I've only handled my buddies Bee from HLJ and the impression I got was bad. The paint apps were shoddy at best, he leaned back to the point of nearly falling no matter how you try to pose him, and he was indeed transformed correctly with the heel bits locked in place like they should be. Really shoddy tabs that don't hold well, alt mode was a mess and didn't tab together right, miss-assembled foot/heel and a bit in the arm, scratched on the roof and rear end of alt mode towards the trunk, head was nearly stuck in place, a common complaint, and nearly snapped off, another common complaint. I've heard worse things about Prime, missing paint apps, apparently every single copy across the board is miss-assembled at the hinge where the sides of the truck cab fold/bend, the tabbing issue is almost universally common, the main window section of the truck has a VERY hard time tabbing down and sitting flush with the hood, tabbing issues with bot mode making the bot mode not nearly as secure as one would hope. It all just sounds like a mess, and at a premium price point. I'm avoiding the figures like the plaque no matter how curious I get. The main message with these two figures is buy at your own risk, there appears to be a damn near 50/50 shot you'll get a bad figure, or a decent to okay figure.- 17115 replies

My monthly HLJ haul. I've been dying to get Figma Guyver 3 for quite a while now, like many others I missed out on the old Max Factory Guyver figures, so I was pleased to see the Figma Guyver line continue long enough to give us the fan favorite Unit 3. Not a Depp fan, or a Pirates movie fan really, but I thought Captain Jack looked like a nice Figuart, so I nabbed one, and he's pretty fun! I may have too many Figuarts at this point, since my last count, which was two hauls and many more Figuarts ago, I'm at 119 counting doubles... I might have a problem. -
I am absolutely in for one, I honestly never thought it would actually happen, but it did, and I voted for it and helped so I feel good. Didn't he also design an MMPR Megazord? I believe I voted on that too, and if it too gets approved, I will be grabbing one of those beasts as well, fantastic work!

Another great write-up, and this one definitely pertains to me because I currently have the BadCube Evil Bug Value Pack on the way, not this more toy centric chrome and translucent one, but the cheaper more "toon" accurate version. This guy looks pretty fantastic! I'm excited to get my hands on all three of them! The FT versions look good, but I wouldn't personally say better, I think BC nailed the bugs better then anyone else yet, and they are far, far cheaper and easier to track down. The FT bugs have gone up in price, and I believe even started at a higher retail cost right off the bat, plus as I said, two of them are getting harder to find. I never owned the G1 bugs, so I don't have much love for the chromed up translucent ones, and I've never been a huge fan of the bugs as is, so this BadCube value pack was an easy choice for me. I had the MMC bugs on pre-order for about 8 months now, cancelled, they don't look any better then the two available options, there's been no test or review samples, and they are more expensive then the Value Pack. I have no idea why I waited on them for so long and never just jumped on the BadCube bugs, hell, they could just be vaporware at this point, they obviously aren't a priority for MMC/Ocular Max.- 9275 replies

Not much love from me for the shuttle, I probably wouldn't bother if it gets released, the Saturn V is my jam, but I voted for it anyway, always nice to support a new Ideas project.

I'm in for the bundle, I was going to get both either way. It looks like NY emailed and let me know my second batch of Figuarts Hall of Armors are dropping a little earlier, on the 25th now, along with my Patlabor Tyrant unit and my Figuarts Qui-Gon. Very stupid once again with NY, three orders releasing on the same day, three separate packages going out, no way to combine them since they are all TWE and were all ordered at different times.

NY emailed saying the Tyrant release has been moved up to the 25th of this month, oh boy! I'm excited, I always loved the Tyrant more then most of the other mecha throughout Patlabor.
-
I'm in for three sets still, but I'm waiting for my next payday so I can get all three sets at once, otherwise NY would be stupid and ship the two I can get now, and then the single set I'd grab next week in separate shipments come December. Zero interest in rushing to buy these, TWE items always have open pre-orders for like two to three weeks.
-
Yes, TWE items have required up front payment for quite a while now.
-
About time for these guys, I was really itching for these missile types, and being TWE doesn't bother me. I'm in for three sets, possibly four since it arrears you can essentially "convert" these into regular Regults.

I've been buying way too many Legos lately, but there's a lot of nice sets out there so it's a difficult battle. I already have my eye on the Lego Quick E Mart to go with my Simpsons house...

I've gotta stop buying Lego sets that I haven't budgeted for. ToysRus sent me an in stock notification email for the Saturn V, I've heard nothing but good things so I had to grab one. Got the Ecto 1 and 2 from the reboot to complete the Lego Ghostbuster releases, I have the first Ecto 1 and Firehouse HQ as well, and I got the Simpsons house just because. Now who needs the Quick E Mart? I doooooo.
