  1. Just answered your own question Though to be honest, most color schemes on real military fighters are just plain dull. It's not just the American craft. I've never really understood the fascination with all these bland, functional colors other than to point out how practical they all are in actual field conditions. That's all fine but it doesn't do me any good as someone who loves a good piece of graphic art. I've got a folder on my computer filled with over a hundred pictures of my favorite real world fighters, bombers and other aircraft yet 99% of them have the worst colors you could ever imagine.
  2. I was actually thinking pin-point barrier equipped missiles was always a potentially deadly new concept in Macross. It would alter the dynamics of Macross Mecha combat in certain ways, since the highly advance accuracy brought about by OverTechnology mecha allowed the shooting down of missiles in flight with gunpods and lasers. I figured, what better way to make battle more interesting? I was also thinking perhaps the composite material wing of the YF-21 (the "liquid wing") would find application in a more advanced UN Spacy. But yeah, this is more geek dreaming than anything else If Macross Frontier went one step further beyond just micronization of fold technology, I could think of some seriously fun ways to use it. *evil grin* Tactical fold jumping in Valkyrie combat would...be...AWESOME! Power usage would no doubt regulate rampant use of the capability, but oh what anime-like fun could be had with "blinking" mecha in battle. I'm REALLY surprised no one has done this yet, especially since the visual style of fast-paced anime combat seems so well suited to this kind of science fiction concept. Hell, the way some anime is drawn and edited, it already feels like mecha pop out of nowhere What do ya think?
  3. That is one mean, ugly looking mecha. I love it This looks like another win. I hope it all holds together really well.
  4. It's seems so obvious to say it, but after so many years of lousy Alien movies and comic books, the two ideas that I remain convinced would still make a good Alien story is either going back to where the aliens came from or having an alien get on a populated world. Either story, done properly (not like in the later comics), would be far more interesting than any Alien story that I've heard of or seen on screen since Cameron's film. Those two scenarios would make for some really compelling horror in the Alien style and you could do so much with the characters and the action that would have a better payoff than anything else being done with these infamous movie monsters.
  5. Welcome to MacrossWorld Izakhar! Though the pictures were psoted previously in this thread, we appreciate your effort nonetheless. Hopefully a trailer will be available online soon and your seduction back into Macross will be complete
  6. I hadn't thought about that. You're probably right. I know they do that often times with promotional material and it's annoying
  7. Yeah me too, but I often catch hell for liking it
  8. Some of the later Valkyries would look simply amazing as Kaiyodo figures. Looking at many of the other franchise lines they've featured as Revoltech figures, the YF-19 and YF-21 would look so amazing in some of the poses possible. With all those angles and sharp edges it would look so dramatic and dynamic on display. Even some of the mecha designs that aren't as good structurally can be articulated into some amazing visual displays, like the Patlabor Griffon for example: Dramatic pose! I'd love to pose a YF-19 Revoltech into some of the shots from Macross Plus, like the movie sequences where the battroid is diving towards New Edwards Center or the infamous flying kick!
  9. *vrooom, zzzrooom, vrrrommm*
  10. Well really, what is the point of taking these opinions personally? I can't even count the number of times people online have brutally criticized rap music, The Matrix or anime; all things that I happen to enjoy. I do understand that geek culture, speaking as a geek myself, does have the unfortunate commonality of accepting criticism poorly. This is not to say that most people take criticism well (because they don't), but it seems to be an especially strong and universal trait among geekdom. So maybe the moral of the story is we'd all be better off as people if we got drunk more often and quit taking ourselves/hobbies so seriously Personally, I don't see anything wrong with enjoying Star Wars, though I acknowledge that the official pass time of the internet seems to be assaulting the prequel zeitgeist with every geek army at our command. I too have a ridiculously large DVD collection (250+) and I'm sure I have more than one or two films in my collection that would ellicit a groan from you and many others Team America: World Police anyone?
  11. I don't think MW is as bad as you make it out. You and I are getting along just fine. The internet in general is a very human place, ironically some may argue even more human than everyday life. Here many of the platitudes and social formalities get dropped, for better or for worse. MW isn't unique, and if I may say so, is far better than most. The venom exchanged here doesn't even begin to sratch the surface of some of the biggest and most popular gatherings online. The good part is, people are a lot easier to ignore on the internet. Though I will admit, it seems most of us have this tragic tendency to continue granting attention to people that piss us off
  12. If I may say so, be careful not to bring too much baggage into the debate. You may not be evil, but some may say you're a little bitter As for supporting film, I think my devotion is self evident. I've likely seen more film than everyone in this thread combined (apologies to any other film geeks I may be overlooking)
  13. And that's the tragedy of surrendering judgement. Yes, most everything is crap. I've said so myself and I do honestly beleive it. But that doesn't mean you abandon choice nor the minority of good films in lieu of supporting even more trash, the existence of which is supposedly lamented. There is so much good film to be seen in spite of it's small percentage the true tragedy is that I won't be able to see it all. So why watch trash I know I won't like, why intentionally watch bad film at the expense of the good and why aren't others doing the same? I don't, I won't and you shouldn't. As for Alien's supposed trashy perception back in the 80's, it's irrelevant since time has given worth and celebration to the film. No such fate will ever befall AVP. A sequel worthy of Alien/Aliens and Predator is not on anyone's radar BECAUSE of the perpetuation of trash. No filmmaker should waste effort making a quality film when trash will do and no film studios will earn more profit year after year by making good movies when the trash sells just as well. We reap what we sow.
  14. Because of people paying for a trashy original, they're making a trashy sequel. Making a sequel worthy of Alien/Aliens or Predator is nowhere on anyone's radar; nor will it be and nor should it be. The trash makes the money, so there's no incentive at all to make more films that are anything other than trash.
  15. Of the 170 films I watched last year, I didn't pay for over 50 of them. When one is involved in the industry, it's amazing how much you get to see for free I can't speak for others, but pride is a minor factor in my decision to pay for film. I try hard to avoid crap films period and even harder to avoid PAYING for a crap film if I absolutely must go (usually to placate friends). It has nothing to do with whatever convenient internet savy excuse you want to label me with. Voting with your dollars is a good habit all too rare these days. And I don't eat fast food
  16. I hate being toyed with and that's exactly what the creators are trying to do with me by making this sequel. Alien vs. Predator was an awful film and a big disappointment to Alien/Aliens and Predator fans. It was given a PG rating to cater to the lowest common denominator so it could be shown to all the underage movie goers. But as luck would have it, the story, the casting and characters (plus a surprising lack of actual Aliens fighting Predators) were all horrible aspects that made it a terrible film. In my own defense, I'm glad I didn't pay to see it. Now they want to make a film that the first one should have been, for all the wrong reasons. Not enough gore? R rating, aren't we great?! Not enough Alien Versus Predator action? Now it's packed with it, just look at the gore in our new trailer! And by all accounts, the story, the casting and the characters are once again given the shaft. Just like the first film, the only thing these AVP movies have in common with their far superior originals is the Alien and the Predator. Watching this trailer, one could just as easily put Freddy and Jason in their place (irony intentional) and nothing would be changed, especially with that ridiculous teenage cast. Pass.
  17. Yeah, now I feel a whole lot better
  18. This a not a bad idea for a topic. I'm just concerned that a lot of respondents are owners that keep their VF-0 in fighter mode, avoiding transformation/posing outright due to previous experience with the infamous shoulder problem. I'm basically looking for a VF-0 that has comparable durability to the 1/48 VF-1 or 1/60 YF-19.
  19. It'd be tough to choose a color scheme. One could go with the transformable model colors in the magazine, but they don't really look like official color schemes. Course, there's plenty of existing schemes to choose from and just adapt them to the SW-XA1 and SW-XAII
  20. Hehehe, well I'm not exactly an expert The M3 is as much a learning process for me as it is discovery for many fans. Thanks valk1j! This explains everything. It's a shame these designs weren't explored further. A bit more refinement of the battroid mode and these two Valkyries would make perfect mecha for a Macross anime. But overall, I really like them. Now onto the nigh impossible task of obtaining high resolutions scans of this line art
  21. What are these two Valkyries? Are they from one of the shows, like some obscure mecha seen only briefly in the background or something? They are actually pretty damn cool. The battroid designs are fairly tight and the fighter modes are both good. REALLY good actually; much better than most of the little-known Valkyries I've seen. The SW-XA1 Schneeblume fighter looks like a precursor to the VF-0. About the only thing I don't like about these two are the names Is Character Model magazine the only book in which this line art has appeared?
  22. That first video is just plain tragic. The second video is very strange. The voice sounds so synthesized.
  23. It's Monica and she get's my vote every time. Now THAT is a real woman!
  24. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't see a single person during the entire fight between Isamu and Guld in Macross Plus. Not surprising, since virtually everyone would be at the concert/armistice ceremony. Personally, I would think the damage Sharon Apple caused, firing the weapons of the Macross into a populated area, would be many times greater a concern than perhaps the few cleaning people that were hurt when Guld smashed through a commercial skyscraper after hours.
  25. Wow, your animation really gives a sense of weight and scale when the main guns open. That's quite hard to do. Your model just keeps getting better. I also really like the small lighting effects all over the bridge. That really helps sell the size of the ship in a subtle way.
