  1. Thankfully, very few pieces of line art required reconstruction. Typically if something was split across the page, I used another book to obtain a flawless version. In some rare cases, it just wasn't possible. The fully detailed Queadluun-Rau (with graffiti) didn't appear in any other book I have. I mean, I HAD to have that line art The following is a list of the major line art reconstructions on the M3: Atlita ARMD (TV Version) Queadluun-Rau Quel-Quallie Theatre Scout There were also a number of minor line art reconstructions. Some involved nothing more than deleting a few lines or fixing scanning errors. Others maybe require a head swap or other minor fix. Notables include: VF-1A Battroid (TV Version) VF-1A Battroid (Film Version) VF-1D GERWALK VF-1S Fighter VF-1S Battroid (Film Version) VF-0A ARMD (Film Version) Lastly, as most are probably aware, there are several out right fan creations. These are pieces of line art where I had to draw modifications myself or combine features from different pictures. Why? Because the line art simply does not exist. These are: VF-1J Target Battroid YF-21 FAST Pack Battroid FRONT VIEW YF-21 Fold Booster VF-11 Unmanned Target Fighter VF-17T Nightmare "Trainer"
  2. That'd be great if you could get it. Actually, I've opened quite a few of my books really far to get these pictures scanned. I won't damage anything to the point were it falls apart, but my poor Macross Perfect Memory took a little spine beating on the Destroid Monster page. I'm never going to resell the book so I figure a few sacrifices are worth it to make this website possible. Though I don't expect anyone else to do the same Worst story: the full decal Queadluun-Rau from Macross Perfect Memory. The beautiful front view drawing with all the Zentradi graffiti on the hull is spread right across two pages. I've only told one other person until now, but I actually painstakingly reconstructed the scans into the drawing you see on the M3. It took a full day to rebuild. No one has said anything, so I guess I did a REALLY good job
  3. Holy shat! Six in twenty three, a 26% failure rate! My gawd... A little higher and we'd reach the X-Box 360 rate! Well, I'm done. YF-19 it is
  4. Damn, that's too bad. I was thinking it'd make an easy little addition to the upcoming Games section. Regardless, thanks for all your help.
  5. Gawd, that is one ugly, boring fighter design, but you sure did a great job building the model! Nicely done. It's really cool that you were able to put landing gear on it. I think the light in your pictures is good. It's enough to clearly see the model and all the details. Thanks for sharing pictures!
  6. Ah, that explains it. Don't happen to have any high resolution line art of it do ya? Thanks bris
  7. Ah! Do they has a website?
  8. It is anime, so I suspect without the word "Macross" there would have been something equally as meaningless but with more words Seriously, I'm not sure. The title Super Dimension Fortress Macross is obviously following in the foot steps of Space Battleship Yamato. So perhaps the series could have been called Super Space Fortress! All bickering aside, I've always felt the series would have been so much more aptly named if it was completely random like most anime titles. Scintillating Avacado Pencil or Venuvian Protege Jive or you know, something really cool like that.
  9. Hmmm, now how would one answer this? j/k Help sent.
  10. Here's a link to a little entry on the MAHQ, an entry I'm curious about: Zentradi Drone from DYRL I was going to ask Chris about this, but I figure I can get an answer here as well. What is this craft and where does it appear in the movie? I'm going to have to look through my Gold Book when I finish work today, but I don't think I've seen it inside that book. Anyone know?
  11. What is Organic?
  12. Thanks, but yes, I already knew that
  13. Ouch. A 15% rate of failure
  14. I'm not sure what Macross would be without the title, but I never did like the "Super Dimension Fortress" thing, even after all these years. I'm really glad they dropped it for subsequent shows. Actually, most japanese anime could go without these overly descriptive, pretentious titles. I don't mind weird (Cowboy Bebop, anyone?) but silliness like Super Dimension Fortress Macross or Neon Genesis Evangelion or Martian Successor Nadesico. These titles mean nothing to me before I see the show and once I do understand the title, it's always a disappointment. Take A Clockwork Orange, or The Matrix, or The Shawshank Redemption and compare. Once you understand what the title means, you're thrilled with revelation and the cleverness of the strange title. Once you know what Super Dimension Fortress Macross means, it's just the title of the spaceship; big deal! Is it an appropriate title given the context of the show? Yes. Is it a good title? Absolutely not, especially given how completely nonsensical it is to anyone who hasn't seen the show and how irritatingly burdensome it is to speak or write for those who have (acronyms not withstanding). Yup, this is MacrossWorld, alright
  15. Why did that site have to shut down? It was so good. The content it had was great and the articles were very interesting
  16. Short off topic note: Macross 7 is great to watch for building mecha profiles eugimon and Zinjoy Yes, more BSG-2003 is definitely in the top of my need-to-see list of tv and movies. I love a good ship battle in space. Nothing else quite like it
  17. I think it's safe to say almost all of us are projecting a little too much into Macross Frontier right now. If I had to guess, I'd say Macross Frontier is going to be a lot different than any of the speculations so far. The more linkage to past Macross, the more incorrect our expectations, IMO. But I'm just going off gut instinct here and a little hope.
  18. That's a safe bet, though to be fair SDFM devoted plenty of script time to ship combat. But you're right that Macross Frontier isn't likely to swing back in that direction. I'm not all that familiar with BSG-2003 (I've only seen the Mini-series, which was very good, btw).
  19. The "crying" one is almost a little too appropriate
  20. LOL! Technically, it's not stolen, it's a link directly to their site...well, the image on their site anyway
  21. Not familiar with it, but I do recall some written science fiction series (especially going back many years) involving very advanced missile combat. Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda for example featured starship combat inspiried by earlier written science fiction stories. Combat would involve ships literally firing thousands of missiles in various salvos and strategies to overcome massive point defenses and electronic warfare of the spacecraft. It actually struck me as a very interesting take of space combat. Course, Macross is cemented in the "big gun" genre of ship combat, but there is a lot that can be done with it.
  22. There's rampant fanboyism for the sake of noise and then there's knowing better. I'm not posting negative reactions because I like to see myself type. I'm looking for one good sign from that trailer - just one - that gives some indication this film is going to be different from any number of other trashy horror/sci-fi films we've already seen, other than the novelty of an Alien and a Predator (like the first AVP). Just because I don't enjoy crap like AVP, doesn't mean I don't know how to enjoy disposable entertainment. And bsu has it nailed with Cameron; he was a talent and we all understood he had the chops post-Terminator.

    Second Life

I'm still playing my first life. Once I get that mastered, I'll let you know
  24. eugimon I was actually thinking more of mid-combat folding. Strategic folding wouldn't be all that useful for striking planets, since folding space while in the atmosphere of a planet is hazardous at best. But the concept is similar. I too would really like to see some good ship combat again. There are so many interesting possibilities for it and SDF Macross really crated some interesting ship engagements. It'd be a shame to see more good ship designs basically used for nothing; a tragedy that has befallen every Macross production since SDFM/DYRL Zinjo You're probably right that full barriers, at least in limited use, are the most likely development for variable fighters that we'll see in Macross Frontier. I'm kinda throwing out ideas that would make things interesting for Macross rather than going for the logical extension of what would appear. I think your idea is a safe bet. danth Yeah, merchandising is probably why the composite material wing wasn't explored all that much after the initial scene :)Glad you like the ideas. Throw around some yourself and see what you come up with. I think some of the new tech for Macross Frontier is likely to be a bit more conventional and grounded than some of my own suggestions, but brainstorming is a really good way to come up with some wild stuff. Sumdumgai I would think the wrap around imaging systems are a given for all next generation variable fighters. I kinda like the idea of using the holography technology seen so much in Macross as a type of visual camouflage. Much like the effect used in Vision of Escaflowne and given Kawamori's involvement in that, it's not unheard of that he would take from his own to make Macross Frontier. He would know what works and it worked incredibly well in that anime series. wolfx Overloading barriers are far too volatile to use as a weapon. So many friendly fire casualties would result from a system that unpredictable and indiscriminate. Graham I can see some type of improved intertia compensating technology, but within limits. I have to agree with azrael though that I think this will most likely be an afterthought, mentioned via throwaway dialogue. Besides, with anime physics stuff like this isn't really all that relevant since they already show Valkyries performing thousand g manuevers even though the Macross universe is supposed to be limited to conventional g forces like today. briscojr84 Yes, that would certainly be a very interesting way to make capital ship combat a bit more interesting. One could even extend combat ranges to ridiculous distances, making stealth and electronic warfare all the more important. I like this idea.
