Macross 25th Anniversary and upcoming new TV series thread
Mr March replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
IMO, Macross did...for Macross. Gundam is nowhere in my discussion. But like I've said before, IMO, the worst is forever past. Either Macross stops, it releases average productions or it gets better. I'm actually really hopeful for this new series. Talking STRICTLY FROM MY OWN PERSPECTIVE, we've had our Macross 7 downer, we've already had two mediocre shows with Macross II and Macross Zero; odds are quite good that we're due for a SDF Macross or Macross Plus, IMO. -

Well, I'm not going to delve into the typical fan boy crying by comparing "degrees of absurdity" between SDF Macross and everything post-1982. Fans are already beginning the rumblings of discontent in this thread. I like Macross and that's good enough for me. If the new series is good, so be it. If not, oh well. To my mind, the franchise has already hit rock bottom and the worst we fans must endure is the possibility of mediocre sequels like Macross Zero, IMO. I'm willing to take the risk on the new series and try it out. Plus, even if the show sucks, I've got work to do profiling the Macross Frontier mecha for the Macross Mecha Manual -

I gotta see it first. That's the only way to get a real sense of it. I'm simply too close to Macross as a fan and I know too much that will send me guessing in a thousand different directions. I'd be happy with GITS:SAC animation too; more than happy. Thrilled. But I have to see this trailer first. The Macross 7 comparison doesn't even bother me. SDF Macross is 25 years old; most anime fans (if they've even seen ANY Macross) only have Macross 7 in their minds as a basis for comparison. Of course the next series is going to FEEL like Macross 7. That's pretty much the only Macross these 15 year olds know -

This new information is basically a non-reaction for me. I recall people describing "The Fifth Element" as Star Wars for the 90's. People are simply clueless. Something like Macross Frontier, I have to see first hand to get a sense of it. -

Hahahaha, that's certainly a way to get the fans going -
Can't download it now. It says I've reached the limit for free users.

Macross 25th Anniversary and upcoming new TV series thread

Well, it's a little more news, but that was rather underwhelming. We've got another tentative title and now a somewhat accurate date (2070 is it?). Well, at least now we know the series will take place on a fleet for sure. Hopefully some more information comes out in the next little while. -
What format is this file in? Is it some kind of archive. Neither WinZip nor WinRAR can open it.

Very nice! I love the new Batsuit. It's also great to see the Joker on screen again in his purple duds. It's been far too long.

Uh oh, I'm gonna get lynched for this: I was thinking about a remake of the Cameron sequel Aliens just a few weeks back and was tossing around ideas in my head for the cast. I was thinking Sarah Clarke (Nina Myers from "24") as Ripley, Michelle Rodriguez (Ana-Lucia Cortez from "Lost") as Vasquez and although he's probably too high profile and expensive now, Edward Norton ala American History X would make a perfect Corporal Hicks Of course, this is just day dreaming. I wouldn't want modern Hollywood anywhere near an Aliens remake. The chances of it sucking hard is just too great to risk it

Sure, higher quality screen captures can't hurt. THanks

I saw your MS-18E Kaempfer cell in the Cell Collection thread. I'm gonna buy a Gundam book and color a few of my favorite mobile suits, using your cell picture as color reference for the Kaempfer -
Whoops, guess I missed that. Thanks Hurin

For those that don't know, I'm a huge fan of Gundam 0080 War In The Pocket and rarely miss an opportunity to share my praise for this little gem of a series. The Anime News Network has a great feature called "Buried Treasure" in which they unearth some of the best little-known anime in an attempt to bring some light on those productions that may be sadly overlooked. So it is that they feature Gundam 0080 in this month's release, posted yesterday. Check out the article and read about one of the best mecha stories ever told IMO and a great tragic tale that transcends it's own genre. Gundam 0080 6-Part OVA on the ANN "Buried Treasure" Feature

Very cute! -
Bloody brilliant WA! That is absolutely one of the best customs I've ever seen. I wouldn't think that a black and grey color scheme would look so good on the YF-19, but for some reason it suits this mecha more than almost any other I've sever seen in similar fan-favorite-black-colors. This is simply amazing work. Wow!

Couldn't agree more. One of the signature sequences from the original.

LOL Poor VF-11, it's only moment to shine was a brief scene in the Macross Plus OVA beginning. If ever there was a more poorly depicted Main Variable Fighter for the UNS, I've not heard of it Well, I'm going to try building a profile. I'll post a first draft in this thread and go from there.

Not getting pop-ups from new PM's.

I've figured it out! The MacrossWorld forums have changed address in the last update. From Hurin in "MW News and Site Info" forum: Now, Hurin was discussing this in relation to a problem that prevents login from taking upon each visit. However, this should also work for those who have no login problems, but other board features are not functioning the way they should (like the PM notification window). So, what you have to do is: Log out of the forums Delete your cookies/cache Delete the Macross World FORUMS bookmark from your browser(s) Close your browser and start back up. Go to the Macross World MAIN PAGE and visit the forums by clicking the link THIS NEXT STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU HAVENT CLEARED YOUR TEMP FILES: click on the Macross World Forums (third line from the top left of the page) to reload the main forum index and watch the address bar in your browser. It should change from www.macrossworld to just http://macrossworld.com Log in The forums should now function normally. You should remain logged in and more importantly, the message box for Private Messages should function like it's supposed to. I received my first PM yesterday after attempting this and it worked. -

Okay, I've changed a bunch o' stuff (look at my post above). The yellow stripe on the canards is not shown in game I know, but it appears on some of the pictures of that color scheme. It could go either way. I think it looks a little better with.

That Blue Kai version of the Unit 00 looks REALLY damn cool, and I don't even like NGE! The mecha fan in me might pick one up when it comes time to order my Revoltech VF-1J

Here's the comparison pictures I've made: *EDIT: New version of original picture* *EDIT 2: See post on next page*
