  1. They are specifically identified as propellant tanks.
  2. I understood most of it, and he's right. Nowadays, each new console is trying to be some multimedia entertainment system with DVD playback and internet surfing and music playback, and on and on and on. Like what the 3DO tried to do back in 1993, it was just too expensive and too ahead of it's time. But I too lament the days of the console as just a simple gaming machine without all this other crap. I've never used my X-Box to play music or store photos and I could give a crap about DVD playback, that's what my DVD player is for. I wish these companies would just drop all the crap that makes each of these new consoles increasingly expensive at launch. I mean $500 to $600 bucks for a gaming system? These costs are rapidly approaching that of a modestly powerful computer. I would guess by the last part that the Nintendo Game Cube isn't one of BV's favorites
  3. That is one fantastic drawing. It needs a rescan for certain, but it is outstanding. Wow. I'd love to have just a really good scan of the uncolored original!
  4. Hehehe, funny Zippo lighters Thanks kresphy
  5. I hear ya. I hate the lousy quality and variable volume of music downloads. I avoid them like the plague. Most of them are crappy 128 kb rips and I'm the kinda guy that complains CDs are too low quality. I really hope a new audio format comes out soon. I want vinyl quality audio on a cheap digital format.
  6. Nice pictures Gunbuster. THanks for the information.
  7. Welcome to Macross World Dinyctis! Answer 1) The pictures of herself are some that Misa wanted Hikaru to have. The origin of the photos are unimportant, what's important is that Misa wanted to be in Hikaru's life, like Minmay was (Misa stumbled on Hikaru's photo album filled with Minmay pictures and so Misa sought to compete with Minmay by giving Hikaru some pictures of her). Answer 2) The FAST Packs for the VT-1 are space only hardware. When the Valkyrie folded into an atmosphere, the computer detected it was in an atmosphere and automatically ejected the packs. Answer 3) Official statistics are 14.23 meters long in Fighter mode and 12.68 meters tall in Battroid mode. CHeck out the VF-1A entry on my website for more. VF-1A Valkyrie on Macross Mecha Manual
  8. HAHAHA Brilliant.
  9. Yeah, the advanced composite material wing was a very impressive feature of the YF-21. It's a great little piece of sci-fi technology that I don't think I've seen anywhere else in fiction. It's a favorite feature of mine as well.
  10. Ooohhh, nice catch AC. If I ever get high resolution scans of the VEFR-1 I'm gonna use this picture for color reference (red dome!). btw, I haven't forgotten about your picks. They'll be in the next update.
  11. That's not bad at all Hayabusa! It's low tech, simple and quite workable. That would actually be much more foolproof than removable legs. Interesting. Oh btw, the line art section for the YF-21 on my website has the high-speed pictures of the YF-21. YF-21 page on the Macross Mecha Manual Here's the direct picture:
  12. I think so too. It makes the most sense.
  13. Yeah, the waist would be much longer and it would be kind silly looking. But it might work
  14. Ah, seems to work from my home computer. Either my work computer is doing something funky or the problem fixed itself between then and now
  15. This is not a bad guess and you're right that the nose sections are removable. Though you'll notice the VF-1D is slightly different in more than just the nose section. The dorsal/chest area lacks that prominent "notch" across the "neckline" in Battroid mode. It's just one solid line, whereas the other Valkyries all have a depression. On the other hand, it may be possible to fit a D-style nose cone on another VF-1 and just have a slightly longer "waist" in battroid configuration
  16. How is speculating on the function of the dorsal/chest objects on the VF-1D "Robotech thinking"? Whenever a fully black detail like that appears on Macross mecha line art, it's either a vent or a thruster. Trapezoid shaped details like that in particular are often missile ports or they could be navigation lights. Like I said, if we didn't already know better, it would be most probable they were missile ports given their shape. But since we do know better, we know they are not weapons. My money is still on vents of some sort or additional thrusters.
  17. Yeah, it's hard to say. My guess is they are depressions/vents/something, especially based on that particular drawing technique used on all the other line art. If I didn't already know what they aren't for certain, I might assume they were missile ports
  18. Lousy. Hopefully they solve the problem soon. I think SR is considering banning the Yahoo bots.
  19. Yeah, Son Riku says it's a problem with Yahoo search bots. I'm able to get on today and yesterday evening wasn't bad. I suspect the holiday weekend here in Canada may have had something to do with it. Internet was noticibly slow for the past three days.
  20. Well, the M3 is certainly open to the donation of a Yamato 1/60 YF-19! *Hint, hint, nudge, nudge*
  21. Ouch! That's disheartening. On the other hand, it is a rare book, so a high price is to be expected. It's just that ignoring the labor involved, the M3 has been a very low cost endeavour (currently under $100). I'm hesitant to spend so much money just for a single source book with only a little usable line art for my website. Maybe when I get a better job here, I'll seek it out. I'll just create a VF-1D Virgin Road Battroid and a special VF-1J Virgin Road Battroid. Officially it'll be a D, but the J will be there as a "what if" kinda thing.
  22. True, though the useless units are useful in certain limited circumstances. I've seen the Terran "Vulture Rush" performed with devastating effect in Brood War. It's almost infuriating to see such a lousy unit used so effectively
  23. I'm still running into problems. It might be my connection at work. I'll try it from home in a few hours. Chad
  24. I don't really care all that much either way. If they wanted to piss all over the Dreamcast, that would have been their own problem. I enjoyed my Dreamcast for the game that I bought it for, which is more than can be said for some purchases I've made in my gaming life. I only buy consoles for one or two games anyway. My days of hardcore gaming to the point of buying dozens of titles every few months never lasted very long. After that, I purchased just a few games every year and that's pretty much the pattern I've held ever since my late teens. I'm not interested in "keeping up" with gaming, I just want to play quality games. Some years are better than others
  25. That is a very handy webpage. Even with the VF-1A error, it's great to see the release history. I still have to get the YF-19
