I have to say that for once, Hollywood is really playing the promotion game well with District 9. Columbia and Sony are really marketing this thing smartly rather than just hitting everyone over the head with the typical cliched "In a world where..." trailers and dumb crap. District 9 has been skillfully teased with posters and viral marketing, passed through word of mouth and disseminated over the net for months. It’s got this great print promotion, where you’ll see random posters and billboards of District 9 with a very eye-catching graphic design all over your city. It’s getting to the point of subliminal propagation. Almost everyone has seen something of District 9 for most of the year, but few know anything about it. It’s making the potential audience incredibly curious. This latest trailer is filled with tension and suspense. I gotta say, for better or worse, the promotion for District 9 has really dug under my skin. I'm curious to see this film in spite of myself. Clever work.

Yeah, I too am feeling this new game is a reboot. I can understand the series starting over now. The last MechWarrior game, MechWarrior 4: Vengeance was released in 2000, now nine years ago. In the world of gaming, that's already several generations old. There's little to be gained by carrying over into a sequel now, especially since there's really no compelling story reason to do so

Simply stunning. This is an amazing video. Well designed and very smartly edited. Bravo!

Could it be? A possible answer to the age old Macross fan debate: did Guld actually rape Myung or was it just an assault? -
MechWarrior 2 is a classic and one of the best PC games of all time. I still have the entire MW2 soundtrack on my computer and on my iPod I also liked MechWarrior 4, especially with the two mech expansion packs. I played a lot of MW4 multiplayer

Watched all three teasers and this definitely has the look and feel of a Mechwarrior game. Hope it is.

EDIT Okay, that was strange. The second image didn't show up last time I posted here. Weirdness But you will post it again right, once you've corrected it? I loved that color scheme. I love Miguel Ferrer. He had a brilliant role in Soderbergh's Traffic and of course Verhoven's Robocop way back in da day -

Fracking fantastic! These are brilliant! Well done. On that second one (the black one), what is that on the ventral rear section, just aft of the engine exhaust? It's like this brown stain on the fuselage. Is that dried blood? -

Yeah, Seto told us about the GU-15 error a couple weeks ago. It just seems like a typo. But speaking of which, what happened with the VF-22 gunpod? Is it GV-17L or is it BP-14D? Is there any way to make a call on it? -

VF-4 whore! Looking good. I like the insert picture of the tail art. The second insignia is really cool, the upside-down bat hanging under the four stars. Very nice work. -

Your work is astounding. May I host it in the "For Fans Only" section of my website? -

Glad my website was helpful. Unfortunately, all I have of the Dragon II is already online. I've never seen any other line art for it. -
I would think that to fight any war effectively, both side would require accurate galactic geography. I agree that even the Protoculture may not have possessed comprehensive galactic maps, but that which they did possess must have been accurate (at least, at the time). I guess it really depends on the way the fiction works. Generally speaking, the universe is in constant motion and galactic kinematics would require the Protoculture (and especially the Zentradi) to update their maps regularly. Astrometry was never mentioned in the series, but the Milky Way Galaxy moves like any other galaxy and some study of astrometrics would be required by the Zentradi to navigate the galaxy. This is especially true after the 500,000 years for which they've been fighting remnants of the Supervision Army. Otherwise, all their navigation information would be hopelessly out of date and even after a few years, outdated maps would make fold navigation treacherous. Fold faults are an unknown, but I think we can be assured they are in motion like everything else in the universe

Let me get this straight: you're talking about that little 5 second blurb of background music that plays at about 3:40 on the video linked by Gubaba?
-
Don't think we're ever given a reason in the anime. Maybe that's part of the reason why a single fold can only go so far and why multiple folds are needed for most long distances. At any rate, mapping shouldn't be a problem for the humans post-Space War I. The UN Spacy would have access to the Protoculture galactic maps once the Zentradi defected. After that, fold navigation would be limited only by the technology and limits of their available power. I suppose it's also possible that the Zentradi's maps could be incomplete or out of date. If so, that may be another hurdle they have to overcome. Assuming the aforementioned problems exist might explain why some of the UN Spacy's colony fleets take decades or more to travel. Say for example the colony fleet folds into a known area on the edge of the unknown. They then have to sit there conducting astronomy/cartography using either simple observation technologies or fold radar technologies like Luca's RVF-25. Once they've mapped out the area, they make another fold to a location they think is the best possible candidate. Rinse and repeat.

Nice CG model of the VF-1 Valkyrie. They made some interesting proportion compromises. I'd love to see more. Gotta order this one.

I can't speak for anyone else but when I speak of the hip, I'm referring to the armored piece with the three ports on it, the armor that covers the 25mm guns on the outer side of the intakes, just below the wing root. I've attached the picture below. I think the best explanation is that the larger port is a vernier for the Armored pack, which means the standard 2 x 25 mm guns on the VF-25's intakes couldn't be fired when the craft is armored. If the VF-25's standard 2 x 25mm guns can't be fired in Armored configuration, that explains why the Armored pack would feature four additional 22mm guns. -
I think I saw the Geisha Transform driving up a building in another film starring Mila Jovovich

Simply amazing. Gawd, I wish I had the time to color each picture on my website like that. -
Thoroughly despicable. Even in the face of complete exposure, Shaloom is still lying, making excuses and, worst of all, blaming Gubaba and other protesters as "stalkers." It's been a long time since I've seen someone so totally exposed as a fraud and still evade responsibility to the bitter end. Shameful doesn't even begin to describe Shaloom's behaviour. Well said. It's clear Shaloom is never going to accept responsibility and he is still blaming others. As such, there's little else that the Macross fan community can do but express it's outrage against Shaloom. On that issue, Fuun is right, most of us have little to gain further in this affair. I will say I am grateful some MG members and the MG staff took action against Shaloom and I'm very thankful you continue to criticize his half-hearted apologies.
