  1. Wow! Great work! I love it! Very cool.
  2. that's pretty cool honestly!
  3. Congrats on all that picked on up. Glad I didn't waste my sleep time on this utter ridiculous buying process. It's turning into too much of a headache to be a high end Macross fan when it comes to Bandai IMHO.
  4. Thanks guys, it's coming along. @Sanity is Optional, I haven't actually light blocked anything at this point...and the kit isn't actually "snapped" together entirely in that shot, which is a testament to Bandai's engineering. I do have some problem areas you can't see in that pic around back of the con tower, partially my fault however. @arbit No more pinholes were added, just what's on the kit. I didn't use the clear parts, I didn't see a reason to, but yes, some were included I think. I haven't diffused the strips yet, but I am going to frost them before final seal up with a spray frost from Home Depot. Cheap dimmable LED tape light strips from Amazon, a good soldering iron, 20 or 22 gauge wire, blue wire nuts and a LOT of practice!
  5. Full F'N led light test today! BOOM!
  6. It's not just your mood..the transformation with the detachable legs thing is annoying AF IMHO. Main reason why mine stays in one mode for a long time.
  7. Fantastic build, but it's completely the wrong shade of green for me. Not my up of tea, and a little too heavy handed on the weathering as well.
  8. Having built that kit, Bravo!!! Looks awesome!
  9. Yup! Watched it Sunday night with the wife!
  10. Cool Empire poses @Black Valkyrie
  11. Well, the wife agreed to watch New Hope Saturday night and Empire Sunday night, we were going to go for ROTJ last night on the 25th of May, which would have been cool, but we didn't get there, day got away from us. You never turn down the chance to watch Sci-Fi with your wife when she agrees to watch it! After re watching the Blu-Ray releases of the 1st two, I knew what I was getting, she hasn't watched them for many, many years, and she actually called out most of the newer digital scenes, and said "wait, that's not the original!" -- Good job honey! . She's like "why don't they just release the originals without all that computer junk in it?" Yes honey why indeed.... I must say --- even as a huge SW fan, I know every line and scene by heart, and I know I'm gonna have to DUCK and HIDE when I say this..buuuuut I stand by my grown up adult assessment of New Hope..I'm sorry, but it's boring. At least up until they get on the Death Star. Yes, yes, I know it's a classic and the first one, and Lucas directed it, but when you pop in Empire, things just get better IMMEDIATELY! Lucas directing is I think the thing that hurt New Hope the most. Looking back, I understand why he did it, it was HIS, and he wanted to own it and he had zero idea if it was going to flop no matter if he directed it or not. With ESB, the editing/pacing of the story is tighter, WAY more serious, and with Kershner's direction, and William's EPIC musical score, it's really hard to find many flaws with it as a whole. The Special Edition tweaks and re-tweaks are annoying in some spots yes, YOU SHOULD NEVER CHANGE A JAMES EARL JONES LINE...EVER!!! "Bring my shuttle" DAMMIT! Most of the background cleanups and changes I can look past on ESB. I pre-warned the wife that when we do watch the Blu-Ray edition of Jedi, it's gonna be...rough...LOL.
  12. If it was the Ozma, I'd be ALL IN. This one though...mehh.
  13. Thanks for the tips guys, I'm using a rotary dimmer, so I'm only running everything less than half full intensity.
  14. Thanks @wm cheng. Actually, I picked the cool white LED's for the interior window lights on purpose so I wouldn't have to gel them. I went back and forth and made the decision that while most space ships (Star Trek/etc...)would look good with warm white interior lights, I figure an ISD of the Empire would be built with cold white light on the inside. Very industrial feel. Kind of like the fluorescent lights my grandparents had in their kitchen! LOL. I would like to find a spray of some sort that I could hit the strips with to kind of diffuse the lights a bit, I think I saw someone on YouTube do with a frosted spray can but I can't remember for sure. Most builds I see you can kind of see the "hotspots" of the LED's as you look around the model once it's finished, it may be unavoidable due to the size of the windows, not sure. I'm gonna test the theory. I think the biggest issue I will have is light leaks on this build. I'm not sure how anyone seals something like this perfectly. If you have the kit, you know what I mean, You HAVE to do all your putty work sealing leaks before you stick everything together, however, that's sort of not really 100% possible the way Bandai designed it. I purchased a cheap set of tiny syringes off Amazon to try and run super fine lines of putty on the outside of the model where light is going to come through...problem is though..all the greeblies on the outside of the hull... Stay tuned!
  15. In the words of Indiana Jones.. "I'm making this up as I go along "... working on the engine LED strip today using some of the blue LED strip that I had for my big 1400 scale Enterprise D engines years ago... Built a wall / divider out of a sheet of styrene to attach the blue strip to. Also soldering 3 additional sets of 3 LEDS for all 3 points of the triangle as the two main strips in the hull weren't quite lighting up the windows in the 3 corners...
  16. We're back to Star Wars. Enough Trek... LOL... Let's see if we can properly burn our fingers this weekend!
  17. LMAO! @MechTech! Glad my old man kept the power tools locked up! I prob would have tried the same thing!
  18. @Dobber -- THANK YOU!!! No one else I've met complains about that change but I HATED it!!! He was SO pissed sounding in the original! Honestly, I've forgotten what other changes were made to Empire for the Blu-Ray box set, guess I'll find out this weekend! Other than that line, I don't remember having toooo much of a problem with Empire's mostly minor changes. Jedi on the hand.....ohhhh dear.
  19. That head sculpt is absolutely incredible on her!!! The hair looks freakin real! If I had the money, I would love to have that one!
  20. amazing work as always @Lolicon!
  21. @NZEOD I freakin LOVE that Phalanx dude! Killer! Tomahawk looks cool too! And now, if you guy's will permit me, a bit of a history...I've been sorting/scanning/cropping thousands of old family slides and pics during the lock down while at work not doing much actual work. My dad was a photographer most of his working life. This is, according to my mom's note on the back of the pic, my very 1st model "by myself". It was a battleship....now I wanted to build this not because it was a battleship, but because Star Blazers was on TV at the time and this WAS the Yamato (or Argo as it was called on SBer's) in my eyes, as there were no Japanese models of it here in TX back in the early 80's of course. My dad had built a few models after he got back from Vietnam, a 1:48 scale Huey, and F-111 and a couple of others as I recall. He didn't paint, they were molded in a "close enough" color, he just glued together and slapped a decal or two on them. I'm pretty sure I destroyed them playing with them, but anyways, I remember my mom and dad helping me out after school and on the weekends with my 1st models, and I found a pic of some of them as well. Mom always taught me to READ THE DIRECTIONS 1st, not just start gluing parts together! She also helped me with the water slide decals. Thought I would share a few pics here...If I find more, maybe I'll post more, I think I have some of me during my teenager years working on planes! OF COURSE, you will note there are some Macross kits in here so this post is ON TOPIC! I mean yeh, it was Robotech in TX in the 80's but old dusty hobby shops with grumpy old men running them had some Macross kits back then...LOL.
  22. Hey @pengbuzz your projects look great! I found a couple of pics from back in the day with that same Transformers base!
