  1. Looks good!!! There was a Gnerl resin kit made by I believe the "Cap'n" here on the forums years ago. There are pics somewhere around....The only other kits are the resin scout ship..which comes in two scales..both are for sale over at Starship Modeler. And then there is the PICKLE! (as my gf lovingly named it)..a resin kit made by a guy in Australia. Don't know if he still makes it or not. His company is called Scale Solutions. He has a website. Nice guy, name's Wayne.
  2. the "Beast" is the Battlestar Pegasus. Noob..
  3. Holy crap that Galactica is A-FRACKING-MAZING!!! ---there..I said it..somebody had to...
  4. First couple of rounds of Raider painting this weekend. Base color is Model Master Gun Metal Buffing Metalizer and panels are Dark Grey Model Masters Acrylic..
  5. Been working on the new BSG Cylon Raider....and work is proceeding (slowly) on the 600+ parts of the 1:72 FM Falcon...
  6. I had a Minmay but i screwed her up painting. My Khyron came out good though.
  7. HUGE +1!!!! this is going to be EPIC!
  8. Just so I can feel the hatred from you guys for when I talked myself into picking these up for a good discount in a X-mas sale the year they came out....
  9. I TRIED SO hard to find that 1:72 kit. But no luck!
  10. Thanks! LOL---Yamato's 1:60 Ver 2's make up my VF-1 squadron....they're not in scale with all the pods...but mehhh...close enough.
  11. Speaking off getting off butts and finishing things....finally added decals and some weathering and am calling 1:100 Mr. Glaug done. This kit is horrible. DO not attempt unless you are like WM Chang level. LOL. It sucks. Old kit, but after all my setbacks, it turned out OK in my opinion. At least I have a Glaug. ..... Toynami/Yamato...
  12. WOW! Looks great! I didn't wash mine either..I like the pristine look and also it looks more like the thing looked in the show. Great Job!!!
  13. duuude! If you're watching BSG---you GOTTA build a Moebius Galactica! Fan Racer is looking good! and to answer your question--yes--darker colors are easier to paint with than lighter colors--Also----and this is MY opinion only---if you want it to cover quicker and easier--try Model Master Enamels and keep the Tamiya Acrylics for airbrushing. just my .02. Just noticed the whole thing was clear out of the box! mine was grey plastic..hmm...
  14. That Garfish looks pretty damn cool! ,,,,if it were like $50 ish bucks I'd bite.
  15. I didn't mix paint for the orange on mine, Just used Tamiya orange out of a spray can,,,,didn't even airbrush it,
  16. BIG +1!!!!! go out and get the Blu Ray box set of the new BSG...trust me...you won't regret it.
  17. I consider Alien and Aliens as 100% awesome. I will say this about the Blu Ray Director's Cut of Alien 3....it is worth a watch...however, what's MORE worth a watch is the documentaries on that particular film. It really brings to light how screwed up the entire filming process was from the original "wooden Monk planet" script all the way through the release date. David Fincher never had a finished script and pretty much got screwed at every turn the entire time while filming if I recall...you just have to watch all the docs and say to yourself "wow...I can't believe it ever made it to the screen at all". As for Resurrection...well...I was all for it right up till the last whole Ripley does the nasty with the Alien and the baby Alien part. The Betty's crew were well cast as was Don Whats his name--the captain of the military ship. Love that guy's death scene. oh well.....bring on Prometheus!!!
  18. I despise puttying/seam filling more than anything in the entire world and would rather be tortured Braveheart style than have to do it...there I said it. Now...I can't find any Tamiya putty anywhere but would love to try some. That being said, I tried this Squadron Green Putty that was like 8 FREAKING bucks for a tube and it sucks worse than anything. It's not workable and dries in about 2.15 seconds. Not recommended. As ghetto as it sounds, I use $1.99 spackling paste from Wal Mart or wherever. Used it for years...never done me wrong.
  19. I completely agree with this statement. The weathering kits are awesome, they just don't keep well over time. Tamiya Fine Surface Primer is also in my opinion the ONLY way to go. Expensive yes, but I'm sorry, that stuff is awesome! I really wish I could get the acrylic stuff to brush on better..but I just can't. Enamels for brush on. Acrylics for airbrushing...nice and easy clean up with Windex!
  20. OK---I'm gonna weigh in here and say I think the COMPLETE and TOTAL opposite!!! I freaking HATE Tamiya paints!!! I LOVE Model Master (enamels, but I've also just started using the acrylics as well) Tamiya is hard as hell to get where I live, it SUCKS ASS for brush painting (so do the MM acrylics)--you simply CAN NOT do it, and it's soooo FREAKING delicate once you do airbrush it, you can scratch it with your fingernail without even trying! Not to mention if you handle even 24 hours after painting your finger oils WILL leave some sort of worn off look. I will give you that the Tamiya stuff does airbrush beautifully, but I think the Model Master Acrylics do just as well. And Stink??? I don't know what you're sniffin Shaorin, but they smell THE SAME to me. just my .02
  21. I cannot WAIT for someone to get one of these things built!!!!
  22. PM'd you about the stand. If you can't find anything that suites you..you can always buy a "flightpose" stand. Those are cool and work well. If anyone can help you with a pilot fig...that would be EXO...he might have something lying around from his 1:60 figure runs...it might not be a seated figure..but a standing Hickaru is better than no Hickaru. They only thing I recommend is watch out for attaching the canopy. I tried to do it last and that was a mistake. I didn't realize it has to be "in" at an earlier stage. Mine is permanently shut because of that error. Good Luck!
  23. I did receive mine! it's gonna be sweet if I ever get to it! Thanks Cap'n!
