  1. On Facebook it was noted that the original voice of Shima may have died - but they don't have anyone who knows for sure (someone by the actors name is listed in a obituary). Anyone here able to confirm or deny it?
  2. > especially those who will try to defend Galactica 1980 I think doing that is proof on insanity in most of the civilized world. Can't believe this has made it to 41 pages so far...
  3. Well, it is Adult Swim. A cartoon block devoted to swimming in the sewer.
  4. If they had a problem with ANY of that they should not have pledged in the first place.
  5. Does either of the Hulk movies count? No idea if they were "produced" by Marvel or not... The only early reports I have heard is that those who have seen it like it so with any luck it will be a financial success.
  6. If the first one takes a dive then no harm done, they just won't make it. Saying this before the first movie even comes out is a form of advertising.
  7. All I saw was Bay's nausea inducing camera work again. Camera work is supposed to help tell the story and NOT make you sick. Pass.
  8. Al is in a class by himself though.
  9. New Star Wars Rebels preview, why did they have to make the Stormtroopers Droid-trooper stupid? That was the most annoying thing about the prequels and now they had to inflict that kind of stupidity on the Storm Troopers... (I'm speaking in specific about the bomb)
  10. There are different definitions of "Imax" floating around. The ones I have been too had much larger screens then regular movie theaters. I have heard that it does not have to be that way though. Locally the Imax theaters are excellent - one is in a Casino so I don't go there (too smokey) but the other one is great.
  11. It makes sense if sales of Shadow Chronicles was lackluster.
  12. Watched the last episodes last night, looking forward to more. From the total lack of finished plot lines (I think everything is left unresolved) I'm guessing a second season is planned? Hopefully Netflix brings it over ASAP.
  13. I saw this a while back on Bluray and liked it, I won't watch it again but it was not the stinker everyone makes it out to be. Then again I have no investment in seeing 47 Ronin done "right". This one made no bones about it being inspired by the real story and not any kind of retelling. I can see someone being upset about it ruining a chance to make a faithful adaptation - like I feel about that dreadful Starship Troopers movie.
  14. Asylum should be able to go with Hercules, they can't "own" the name since it has been used for movies before, "Hercules Reborn" is all theirs now though. Wife wants to see this, fine with me since we get dressed up for movies.
  15. I'm up to episode 6 or 7, loving it so far. Watching it dubbed, which I usually do when given a chance (with an exception for that unbearably bad Macross Dub). I'm starting to wish that the word "Hai" will no longer be translated like "Sempai" no longer is. The reason is that trying to find a proper word for it in English usually is impossible. It is often used when the english equivalent is "Aye Aye Sir" or "affirmative", or "I agree" - things where an English equivalent can not reasonably be done in a single syllable response. Between this and Mac Frontier the Aliens have been bugs/tentacled thingies. Is this a generally changing part of anime? I remember one of the genre convention rules in the Mekton RPG was "kissing a slug is no fun", in other words aliens were generally humanoid.
  16. Gerli - that Deep Space Settlement game looks neat! Thanks for sharing that one (see, something useful can come out of an RT related thread)
  17. Then the head of Pixar would get a shot at it, not really a terrible idea.
  18. > The thing with his organic right hand could have been used as a Chekov's Gun during the climax at the helipad, making it more dramatic. That really bugged me at the end. In the ending of the original everyone was thinking "How is Robo going to get past that 4th directive?" and at least *I* did not see it coming BUT it was so logical... The ending to this Robo was the standard sheer willpower is all you need. The less said about Samuel L Jackson't character the better, I'm of the political persuasion that would agree the source of the character needs to be mocked - but that was terrible.
  19. Saw it last night, I am VERY glad I only rented it on Netflix rather then wasting money to see it at the theater. Throw away all of the twisted charm of the original and replace it with that overly preachy crap Samuel Jackson had to drivel out and you end up with Robocop 2014. Ugh. It took way too long for Murphy to "die", the new ideas put in to replace the old ones fell flat, and the redone versions of the original scenes were just boring. Part of what made the original Robocop work was the over the top nature of it, by trying to make this one more "realistic" they ruined it. If I had to choose between this and anything other then the original Robocop, that would be a tough one, the only movie series to tank quicker then Robocop was Highlander...
  20. Just in case it has not been mentioned, Sharknado is getting the Rifftrax treatment this Thursday. http://www.fathomevents.com/event/rifftrax-live-sharknado
  21. I don't think the studio has high expectations for the movie, August is usually reserved for second tier releases. Though it is August first rather then later in the month so not quite in "Expendables" release time frame. My wife and I both plan on seeing it in Imax though.
