  1. True - To this day I'm still perplexed at how the original Space Battleship Yamato movie was so popular when the TV show was not. THAT was dreadful as well. (Granted, Star Wars but even so)
  2. The graphics look nice but the childish dialog is a turn off.
  3. Although not so mind numbingly dreadful as the recent Frankenstein movie this one is just plain dull. The battle scenes were boring, the plot boring, the cast boring.
  4. The new Inspector Gadget song sucks - pity since I really liked the original.
  5. And yet ANOTHER attempt to reboot Lost in Space... http://www.blastr.com/2014-10-10/prepare-get-lost-space-again-tv-reboot-works
  6. I have to use an example of something else. I *KNEW* exactly what would happen in Apollo 13 - and yet the ending to that was one of the best bits of tension in a movie I have ever seen. The same goes for Dracula as well, a master movie maker can make it very suspenseful.
  7. I have fun with it. I put any old model Sherman out on the game table and some gamers go bonkers. You don't even want to start a conversation with the Napoleonics nuts...
  8. From your post claiming it was not a Tiger I was thinking it was the normal bit of showing footage from 41 and talking about the battle of the Bulge. Are you a wargamer by chance? (I am) they can be just as nitpicky.
  9. Han is fine with a phoned in performance so I'm not worried about that. Really, all Ford has to do is look annoyed or bored 99% of the time. Fisher - no problem, she is a solid actress that just didn't have "Star" power. She did a great bit in "When Harry Met Sally" and her commentary is some of the funniest stuff I ever heard. Her quip about owing Lucas a quarter every time she looks in the mirror is just great. She should not even need to act, Leiha has the same acerbic wit...
  10. That most certainly IS a Tiger, or at least a reasonable mockup.
  11. The Robin Hood episode, that WAS a fun little romp. How could I forget that? There is nothing wrong with nostalgia - but it has to be done correctly, it does not excuse a boring show. Eccleston is a good comparison, the episodes continually improved throughout the season, while the episodes of this season started with a bang and have been hit or miss since.
  12. After the moon episode I'm starting to think that the BBC wanted to get rid of Dr. Who but needed to make the fans hate the show first. The season opener was excellent (Drax, can't have too much Drax) but I don't remember ANY of the other episodes at all, not a good sign.
  13. I nearly gave up on Clone Wars (and this) when I got to the Younglings building lightsabers - I ended up skipping those and the droid episodes that followed. The ones following that were excellent. Hopefully this show has fewer clunker episodes and more of the good ones. The teaser clip does not make me hopeful though.
  14. The one episode of Futurama handled the whole missing link thing very well. From the title of the thread all I could think of was this thread might be about an alien dating service (Lack of sleep this morning...)
  15. If I have not yet seen a TV show from before 1990 or so I most likely will not find it watchable any longer. This depends on the budget of course. I find it hard to get past the lack of fluidity or detail that such shows had to have in order to be made for a reasonable amount. Movies from the era and a good bit of the OVA work I occasionally see are still good however.
  16. Watched "War of the Worlds: Goliath" last night and it deserves a mention on this thread (I was thinking of listing it on the current anime thread but it REALLY deserves to be here). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2320924/ Highlights I think they managed to fit in every possible cliche. The animation second rate (though some of the effects were nicely done). The dialog was crap. The character designs were of Shadow Chronicles quality. If you are going to have Teddy Roosevelt at least make the character act a little bitty bit like him.
  17. Typo and wrong title. The Frankie movie from last January "Frankenstein Unbound", turd from start to finish. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099612/
