  1. My one line review. Decent movie, characters had character, plot moved along fairly well, not too much or too little pew pew. It just lacked the spark of excellence. I don't remember any gotchas or plot holes so that is always a big bonus. We saw it at the local Imax, Nothing really stands out as needing the 3D or Imax effects though.
  2. Complete disagreement, he has characters running around and doing things for no reason - namely Aria and Tyrion (and lets not forget Dragon lady, and while I'm on it the whole sideshow with Dorn was/is filler too). Sure, he will come up with a reason for it in the end but it was not part of the original idea, he let himself get carried away with some "extras" he decided to tack on while writing. His saving grace is that for the most part it is still very good.
  3. Darn straight, when I saw the making of Titanic I was surprised to find out that the boat was a prop and the people were CGI (in the disaster crowd scenes! Not the main cast - that I know of). Also, in Babylon 5 The Lost Tales people were complaining about the horrible CGI - but the exact scene they were complaining about had no CGI in it, the set was a real set.
  4. At this point I don't really care if GRRM finishes the books or not. (Heresy I know). The series is doing an excellent job, in some ways better then the books - certainly when it comes to story pacing.
  5. The plot details I read had them going back (ala "Back to the Future; Part 2") to the original 2 or 3 movies and doing stuff in the background. Hopefully they pull it off better then BttF2 did.
  6. There is no dub, it is subtitled only. At least that I have seen, no audio channel option has appeared in the Netflix streaming menu.
  7. There was a full size Falcon set prop, might not have had a "back" end too it though. It was simply a shell however, to actually work as shown in the movies it would have needed to be a TARDIS.
  8. I'm watching "Attack on Titan" on Netflix. Up to episode 6 and liking it so far, I hope it does not fall apart at the end like some shows do.
  9. I have not read Stranger in a Strange Land but from what I have read ABOUT it the book seems to have been written by an entirely different person then the one who wrote SST. Stranger is on my bookshelf but just has not made it to the top (and most likely never will)
  10. If they don't have a big role then why even bother mentioning they have been cast? OK, Star Wars so every goon on screen for 10 seconds and has 1 line needs to be mentioned. Even with only 2 weeks filming done I still say anyone worth mentioning should have been cast long ago.
  11. How much filming has been done? All this late casting news makes me a little leery - casting should be complete LONG before filming starts. At least they don't seem to be rewriting the script any more.
  12. They have been wanting to redo Stargate for ages (since the day after it came out it seems like). This is one I actually would like to see remade. The original did not live up to the premise, IMHO, and a chance at a trilogy of films might fill in the rough edges. Then again it could end up feces - but that would detract nothing from the original.
  13. My wife wants to see this opening day (her movie selection turn). I'll post a thumbs up/down then.
  14. MC? Main Character? All I can think of is Master of Ceremonies which I'm sure is not it...
  15. Just watched "The Black Hole" again, I really like that move - warts and all. (Yup, mentioned here on this thread in the past). Anyone have any more info on the proposed remake?
  16. I did not read the original article (probably can't read it) but I'm sure Kawamari meant that they were limited in what could be released as animation - not manga or books, etc..
  17. Yes they do, A little trim work with a knife will take care of any excess bits on them - they should paint up real nice.
  18. You got your Gamera in my Yamato 2199! Well, it is Gamera, "WTF" pretty much sums up pretty much sums up the whole thing, at least the originals since I hear that the more recent remakes were more serious. If you want some real fun find the MST3K riffs on them.
  19. thanks, I was asking about the whole series so your answer is just what I needed. PSN here I come.
  20. Can anyone point me in the right direction to legally watch this in the US? I think it was on the playstation network at one point - if it still is I can take the PS3 upstairs for a few days while I rent them...
  21. I got all tingly listening to that! December 6th can't come soon enough (and however long it takes to get to the US after that)
