  1. I have to say after all the hype I was somewhat disappointed with Iron Man 3 when I finally saw it two days ago. Yes, the witty banter was good, there were some great one liners. RDJ and Ben Kingsly both put in excellent perfomances. However, I thought there was not enough of the Iron Man armour in the movie. We had some Iron Man action at the start and end of the movie, but nothing for the long, long middle stretch. In fact for a lot of the movie, I felt I was watching a Die Hard knock off, with RDJ running around in a vest doing his best John McLane impression. My opinion is if you are going to make a movie about Iron Man, find ways to get him in the armour, not ways to keep getting him out of the armour. I also felt that Iron Patriot got captured far too easily. Don't understand why a bit of heat causes the amor to stop functioning. Also, while it was nice that they showed a lot of different armour for the final fight, we didn't really get to see the armour for more than a few seconds each before it was destroyed (thought the armour was supposed to be tougher). Overall, I'd give Iron Man 3 a 6 out of 10. I felt Avengers was a much better movie. Graham
  2. Yay, got shipping notice from NY. Graham

    Macross 30

Perfect Sorata, thanks. Ordered the book based on your video By the way what's the music playing in your video, I like it? Graham
  4. Just received shipping notice today from CD-Japan for my second one. Also received in preparation email yesterday from NY for my first one. Graham
  5. But honestly, is Agent Smith, the enforcement agent for a machine race that puts humans into comas to suck out their energy as living batteries really the best reprsentative a for medical care system!!!!????? If I went into one of those hospitals with a GE system I'd be worried about coming out again........hahaha. Graham
  6. Nah, still not digging it. Still don't like the mecha designs or the silly two person control set up. The rest of the trailer didn't do much for me either. And I love giant robots and grew up on Maxinger Z, Great Mazinger and Combattler V. Graham
  7. I find that very interesting, especially the explanation of why the Zentradi don't have reaction weapons and also that reaction weapons don't produce residual radiation. Graham
  8. Ah, but didn't Macross Plus movie originally have a theatrical release? Graham

    Macross 30

Any reviews of the guide book yet? Wanna know if it's worth getting? If it's got a lot of mecha pics n mecha lineart, I'll buy. If it's mostly just text, I won't Graham
  10. Definitely buying the Blu-ray, but a little disappointed there's no PS3 Hybrid game, especially as the models for the YF-19, YF-21, SDF-1 and Ghost X-9(?) are already done in M30. Graham
  11. Interestingly enough, I'm the opposite. I find the VF-17 far easier to transform than the VF-171. For me the VF-171 is a PITA. Both great looking toys though. Graham
  12. No, nobody knows anything firm at this point in time. Graham
  13. At the moment everything is still just rumor and speculation. We don't know exactly what happened to Yamato and we don't know what will happen with Arcadia. Yes Yamato had some very cool stuff planned, which I hope eventually may still get made, but I'm not holding my breath and I'm not overly optimistic either. Graham
  14. "No officer, it's not what you think. I was just polishing some plastic that's all" LOL. Graham
  15. While I love the game, I'm not a huge fan of the races and have only tried a few. No real burning desire to spend much time on them either. Graham
  16. Started showing here in HK on Thursday 25th April. I'm gonna see it sometime early next week. Graham
  17. That is a pretty bird. Can't wait for mine to get here, but still no shipping notice from NY or CD-Japan The CF VF-171 definitely looks better without armour IMO. Graham
  18. Still think the 'No Step' markings being on the underside of the wing is hilarious. They didn't really think that one through Graham

    Macross 30

How is the guide book? Any line art of the YF-30 or good large pics of the mecha. I'll buy it if its good clear pics of Isamu's YF-29. Yes, I'm loving the game. Really enjoy trying to get as many kissls as I can in fighter mode. Just wish the ceiling was higher though. 46 hours into the game on my first play through and still only on story mission 5-2, as I'm spending most of my time on Hunter's Guild quests and flying around blowing stuff up And being OCD I have to tune up all the mecha I'v got (except the DLC YF-30, which I refuse to use as it's ugly). Graham
  20. I don't have the Konig yet, but I imagine it's just the normal D-pad transform controls. Graham
  21. Can't be cost, just give the blueprints and a few junk parts to Aisha and she'll hammer you out a VF-19 or VF-22 in seconds :P Graham
  22. The question in the original post seems to be referring more to the state of the franchise rather than the state of the fandom. For the state of the fandom, it certainly seems very healthy IMO. Certainly here on Macrossworld and before that on AFM, Macross has long had a very active, loyal and devoted fanbase. I have to say the, level of friendliness, helpfulness, knowledge, intelligence and maturity is the best I have ever seen on any forum. As for the state of the franchise, well, that's where I'm a bit concerned. There's no new TV series or movie on the hozizon (that we know of), The Macross 30 game has already been released, Yamato toys has folded, Bandai's toy output is sporadic and limited, I fear the YF-30 DX is vapourware. Hasegawa's output is drastically reduced (no news for ages on their VF-25 kit). I do fear that we are passing out of the golden period of Macross that we have been enjoying for the past decade. While we do have some new things on the horizon, such as the upcoming Bandai VF-1 kit and the ongoing expanded Chonicles, I fear we are slowly lapsing into a quieter time. Graham
  23. DYRL = best anime movie ever IMO. Graham
  24. If the released a cannon fodder VF-25, I'd buy 3. Graham
