  1. Can somebody remind me what is the easiest and safest way to remove the rainbow tint finish from Yamato 1/60 VF-1 v2 canopies? I was just checking my v2 VF-1 toys and noticed two (VF-1A Hikaru and VF-1S low-vis Focker) where the rainbow finish is cracking and flaking off. Graham
  2. With all the recent posts and pics of the VF-4G, VF-17D and VF-19P in the other threads, it's easy to overlook and forget just how awesome a toy the v.2 1/60 VF-1 really is. Despite being an older toy, it still has outstanding design, engineering and details. The current 30th anniversary version with improved and easier crotch locking, updated shoulder hinges, clear canopy and option parts is the definitive VF-1 toy IMO. Graham
  3. Used Nippon Yassan many times and yes they are legit. Graham
  4. I applied a thin film of super glue to the missile tabs and let it dry before putting the missiles back on. The missiles while still removable are now much more secure. Graham

  6. quote name="Keith" post="1019980" timestamp="1360202227"] There was an episode with a clone, during the droid arc Yes, a single episode, with Clone Commando Gregor and what are we now, 15 or 16 episode into the season already. Graham
  7. Still wishing for more Clone action. This season has again been pretty much The Clone(less) Wars. Graham
  8. 1/60 DYRL Hikaru VF-1S is white/grey. All the DYRL VF-1S/VF-1A are white/grey Only the TV versions use the bright white plastic, e.g. TV VF-1S Focker and TV VF-1J Hikaru. Hikaru's DYRL VF-1A is callsign 011. Hikaru's DYRL VF-1S is callsign 001. Graham
  9. I recently ordered the DYRL VF-1S Hikaru with option parts and also the Super/Strike parts from Nippon-Yassan and they just arrived today. Attached are photos of the current 30th Anniversary packing. This is the latest packing. Graham
  10. Go for a 1/60 scale version 2. Get the latest releases with the extra option parts (side covers and raised pilot seat for display in battroid mode). Also, the latest versions have the benefit of not having the rainbow finished canopy which occasionally could crack and peel and they also have the revised hip locking which is easier to transform. As for whether you decide on the VF-1J or VF-1S (TV or DYRL), that's really up to your personal taste and preference. I personally prefer the DYRL Hikaru VF-1S, as I'm far more of a DYRL fan than I am a SDFM Macross TV fan. They are all good toys, whatever you end up getting. Graham

    Macross 30

Mm, quite. The outpouring against those of us who dare to express an opinion that we have no interest in jrpgs is quite surprising. The majority of Macross games have always been action oriented, be it Scrambled Valkyrie, Macross 2036, VF-X, VF-X2, MPGE, M3, VO, Macross Since 1983, the PS2 DYRL game, MAF, MUF (all of which I've owned & played). While many of us old timers have no problem using Japanese/English dictionaries or trawling the internet for translated help guides, I think what we/I'm saying is we hope the jrpg aspect is minimised, or at least there is an option to skip the jrpg aspect. While having a story is good, VF-X2's story was great, as was M3's, (even if the game play was crap), I hope there is not endless screens of chat between characters in this game. Graham

    Macross 30

It would be nice if there was an option to exclude the RPG elements for those who just want the action. Graham
  13. That bought tears to my eyes. Forum software really needs a 'like' button. Graham

    Macross 30

I really don't care for the RPG aspect of this game, I just wanna fly around in beautifully rendered VFs and blow crap/other VFs up while listening to cool Macross music/songs! Can't believe there is an auto battle mode! I mean really I can't wrap my head around why any Macross fan would not want to learn to fly fight in a VF?? Mind officially boggled. Graham
  15. I view MW 95% of the time from my phone these last few years. My home PC barely gets touched anymore. That said, I view the full version of MW on my phone's web browser, no need to view the mobile version. Graham
  16. Mwhahaha. Rather than firing it, it looks like he's gonna rip its legs off. Graham
  17. No, not yet. Wanted to ask what glue would be safe or best to use? Super glue? Tamiya model glue? Graham
  18. It's a 'Flying Kukris' coaches shirt. The mini-rugby club my son plays for. Graham
  19. Stickered mine up a bit. Graham
  20. Here's my video for unlocking the canopy on a VF-17 if you have one with a really stuck canopy. Graham
  21. A couple of pics to accompany the video Graham
  22. I first posted these pics and similar comments months ago, when we last discussed the ankles on the VF-19 toys. I've now got 7 x VF-19 toys in various flavours and don't have loose ankles on any of them. Admittedly Gerwalk is my least favourite mode and I seldom transform any of my toys into Gerwalk mode, but all of them have been in Gerwalk on occasion. When I originally spoke to Yamato about the ankles, they told me that the ankle ball and socket on the first release VF-19Kai were only given a coat of paint so it was more difficult to control dimensional tolerances, plus paint will wear, so the ankles could lose easiier if over stressed. Later releases of the VF-19 had the ankle joint being metal plated which would make them tighter. However, the only time I have heard members complaining of loose ankles on the VF-19 (please correct me if I'm wrong), is when they have deliberately over stressed the ankle joint pushing it past it's design limit in order to try to get a more 'aggressive' Gerwalk stance. I've never tried to force the VF-19's ankles further than they are supposed to go and so the ankles on my toys are all nice and firm. I also think you can get a great looking Gerwalk mode without trying to force the ankles past their limits. Just my 2 cents. Graham
  23. Here's a somewhat quick n rough video showing how to re-extend the neck cover. Graham
