Thom replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I thought the Holiday Special was alright. A couple good songs and goofy skits.- 1511 replies

Though there have been some duds, I'll be sad to not see another WW or Aquman movie. I've liked both WW movies and was hoping to see more. As to Superman, I think he should be allowed to rest some and give some attention to a true teen Supergirl, then use her to recast the part. Not reboot, just recast. So dang tired of reboots!

And other than the visuals, I did not like Avatar at all.😁 I wish he had stayed focused on Alita rather than handing it off, then maybe Battle Angel would have already had a sequel by now.
-
Yes. But I think any hint of Nova should have been just that, a hint, and one that Alita never knew about, or was only slightly aware of. Everything else could happen as it did, obviously. Although, I had previously wrote that a better ending would have been showing her going out with Ido as a hunter/warrior rather than the rollerball scene... Something like that would have closed the movie up a little tighter, without the challenge shot of her pointing her sword at Zalam/Nova leading into a sequel that, three years later, hasn't happened yet. Just my thoughts on that.
-
The only thing I really didn't like about ABA is that they did not give a complete ending. They left the sequel possibilities open, rather than ensuring the movie's main story was done and tied up, which for me has only hurt it in the long run. Vector should have remained the main villain throughout, with only a few moments hinting at another antagonist pulling the strings, and completely out of Alita's perspective. Leaving the Nova plot so exposed at the end leaves such a glaring opening that I'm less likely to watch, esp if it is a one and done. I really wish movies and series would do that too. Leave the cliffhangers to mid-season, but finish the story out rather than risk having it cut short before it's finished.

@derex3592 That lovely lady is looking raring to go! I'm sure the FIL will love it!

I will say, the third episode was better then the previous two. I'll be hanging in there.
-
It was supposed to also hang missiles under the wings and be re-engined. Have to say, I would loved to have seen that. Instead, the B-1 is now on the way out.
-
I'd be interested in knowing if any of the pilots, and not just those on the subject aircraft, commented on the lack of vertical separation. The switch-over from 500 to 1000 feet from the show line was bad enough, but that height difference would have meant those crews walking away from their aircraft instead of what did happen.

Seeing this thread brought back up gave me a little thrill! I really hope this amounts more than just speculation and talk, as I would love to see more of this!

@MechTech Literally making the tools to make the model! And most impressive ones at that! Very cool.

Well, there was talk a while ago about turning the B-1 into a into a bomb truck, B-1R. Love the acronym, Boner.

It's all stealth over speed, esp when we're coming into the era of hypersonic missiles. Staying undetected is safer.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Beyond the Spider-Verse

Into the Spiderverse is still the best Spiderman movie! The only drawback, IMO, is that it is not live action.- 91 replies

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, in theaters summer 2023
Thom replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Is this you, cause that seem kind 'cutesy' to me! At this point, I don't even know where we are going here?! Are you being critical about something and just can't say it plainly?- 355 replies

Thom replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It was a little out there anyway, what with his brother's head slowly vanishing. Always had be wondering what was going on back in '85? Were people freaking out about it? To view it now as time needing some time to orient itself to the new history, such as nothing changing until the character(s) return to their own time to close the loop is a lot cleaner.- 355 replies

Have to say I also like the B-2's stylling better as well, but as stealth goes, it's all in what you can't see.
