    @peter That little Grissom could be a good learning experience before you get the new 1/350! Did a little more work on Race 80. The AK Extreme Metal came in the mail and I hit the back with the dark aluminum. And a little look through the paint supply awarded me with Tamiya XF-8 Flat Blue as a good match for the prop cone and the trim around the canopy.

    Is that a real production shot, or were they just testing lighting and such? The main reason, is I hope he loses the beard. That's too John Wick. And if it's not a production shot and they're just testing things out, then that would give them time to lose the beard and trim Moss up. And I don't say that to be derogatory. We all age, and in different ways, and unless you're Tom Cruise, with a new action movie out every year, some things are going to start to slide. Given the time, there's nothing stopping her from doing a 'Sarah Connor.'

    Well, we do know that the New United Nations came about after several decades following SW1, as the Earth government became more decentralized in order to deal with the wider, spreading population among the stars. So changing the government to the NUNS just after the Unification War, rather than happening sometime after SW1 would be a retcon. The story itself would remain exactly the same though but for that, as it would be more to get around HG's continued strangle-hold on Robotech Macross by removing the visuals and whatnot they have trade-marked. But that is probably just pie-in-the-sky thinking, as I'm sure there's a lot more to it than just some trade-marked visuals... Heck, I would just love a reason for them to just redo the animation!

    That 'pointless repulsiveness' is a hindrance though, esp if we want younger audiences to watch and like the original Macross, rather than veiwing it as their Grandparent's 'quant black and white serials.' I remember watching Robotech as a kid and loving it, but nowadays I much prefer the newer ones, partly because the visual styles are so tight and detailed. When seeing some of the drawn stills from from the 'old days' I have a hearty little chuckle at how they look, esp when you can tell the artist got a little lazy. Heck, even updating it just to match DYRL's level of artwork would be a vast improvement! What they could do, since apparently their deal with HG means they still can't sell the original overseas, is use this as an opportunity. They could update all the anime, (keeping the original dialogue) while also changing all that HG has copywrited, such as the RDF kite and UN Spacy. Literally call the Earth military government NUNS right from the 'start' as it were with the newer sigil.

    @arbit Very cool with the print. Congrats. And I had that on zoom, and I don't see anything wrong with her chest... @pengbuzz That is another fine looking Transformer. Cool work. @peter Nice looking Musashi! Compared to the older 1/700 they are worlds apart!

    @peter And whose to say that there was no Musashi in the UNCF!? I think that's what they should have named the Ginga, but now you get to build an actual fighting ship! As for battle damage, I think every now and then of doing that to one of my kits. Something like this...

    There was a post a few pages (and several years back) about attaching clear parts, most of which was already answered. But this is for wingtip lights, whether kit-supplied or making your own to replace solid molded ones. For an example, the ones on Tamiya's 1/48 Ki-46 are molded solid, so you can either paint them silver and then clear red/green - or cut them out. And to replace them I use plexiglass. I bought a small sheet from my local hardware store for another purpose, but found that it doesn't fog at all with CA! So, just cut out a few chunks, drill and paint to make the bulbs... ...and then glue them in place with your superglue. After some sanding with finer and finer grit to polish, you end up with some nice wing tip lights! Thom

    I wonder if in the Macross universe, like the IDF, it is mandatory to serve a term in the service? After Earth was razed, I could easily imagine every surviving citizen having to a term in the military, at least until the civil unrest after the war finally eased up. And I could see that being carried over to the Immigration Fleets. With a finite population so far away from immediate assistance, they would want as many citizens as possible to be able to stand up and fill the gap made by combat losses. It would follow that students would have military trade schools as well.
