  1. I'll have to give it a look on my next day off. I did watch and finished the first season of Amazon's Absentia, with Stana Katic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebZleBP_ab4 Just started season 2 of 3. Though the character is not the same, she plays a more hardcore 'Kate Beckett' in this one, which is not a bad thing. Very good over all. (dang, forgot how to imbed a vid...)
  2. I'm assuming that unless you could snap a missile or two off just after the maneuver, that's probably more of a dogfight reset? Break the ongoing scenario (of you losing), have the fighters 'return to their corners' and come back in again.
  3. I sure hope you display that with some Before pics right beside it.
  4. Yeah, but that's because its final season sucked. The previous ones were groundbreaking, but the show runners abandoned it and rushed through the ending.
  5. They do have a knack for picking just the right song for the scenes.
  6. Actually, I'm not. All society is a thin veneer that sits on a shaky foundation that we blithely ignore, and even put absolute faith into. I highly doubt a future civilization would be any different, the Federation included. It is good while it is there though, and yes something to point to and strive for, even as we forget how fragile it is. What we are seeing is the cracks that have been forming for while, most likely do to stress because of the constant strain the Federation has been under, culminating with the attack on Mars. Though, however heavy-handed it is, the arrival of Starfleet at the end shows that there is still a chance for a resurgence of the Federation we remember well from TOS and TNG.
  7. And yet it is present. Something easily pointed to, even at a distance. To use an old quote, 'a shining city on a hill.' They have the luxury of it being there and so can afford the effort to spread that high ideal.
  8. It is an outstanding bit of work there, good sir! As for the ill-fit, thin styrene wedged into there will probably be your best, easiest, fix. Arbit, you bring that scene to life! The only way it could have been better, is if the vending machine was circling like a predator for the kid's attention! And some top-notch work on that gun! Howie Gee Wizz! And it fires, right?!
  9. Chaos, of course, being Earth's moon and a virtual paradise that 'Adam' and 'Eve,' (that being the newly born male and I think the younger of the women on the ship) escape from when the surface is destroyed. They escape to Earth, while the Solnoids and Paranoids apparently wipe each other out. I never did like that ending...
  10. STP, being set outside the Federation was not going to show all that wholesome goodness, and Picard would (by being Picard) be the focus of that idealism in the gritty, greater universe. And it is a thin veneer that someone can hold on to, as long as they are living in that paradise. It affords them (the citizens of the Federation) the comfort of living towards those higher ideals, whereas those who do not are focused more on the immediate concern of living and surviving day to day. Being set outside the Federation, that idealism was going to be left behind, again except for Picard as the standard bearer for it. And so again, the show was going to absent of that wholesomeness and thus grittier because of it. And yes, Riker and the entire (apparently) Starfleet showing up just in time, and at odd with the words of the head of the entire fleet, was a blatant and forced happy ending.
  11. I think the 'gritty'ness of the Star Trek universe seen in STP, outside of Starfleet (and thus off of Earth or Vulcan etc), was always going to be lacking in the wholesome, advanced attitude we've seen in near all Star Trek shows. Whether it's seen through the lens of DS9, or Data with the Collector, Harry Mudd and others, that advanced attitude has always been a thin veneer. A luxury allowed when one has the means, such as serving in Starfleet or being a citizen of one of the primary worlds of the Federation. One of the elite. So stepping away from Starfleet and heading out into the greater civilian universe, we were always going to be leaving that behind. At least partly. That meant that the 'advanced culture' was then going to be seen through one person rather than a whole crew serving on the same ship, with that being Picard. He is the lens though which we see that greater attitude that Star Trek has always shown. Personally, I'm alright with Starfleet and the Federation 'losing it's way.' In past movies and series, they've been hit hard and repeatedly, and esp with the mass attack on Mars, pretty close to home. It would be unreal for any civilization to not trudge through the lows every now and then, before starting to find their way back, such as Riker and the fleet showing up at the end to start doing what was right.
  12. Well, all they'd have to do is continue that one scene on Mars without the attack happening. A whole sixty minutes of it!
  13. You know, I wouldn't mind if at this point they made it Star Trek Riker.
  14. It might be useful to dance a dremel off the edges of the exposed parts.
  15. I'm so glad I'm oblivious to all the apparent woke 'subtext' everyone else is seeing. But then every show we see is in some way a mirror of our current climate, so pulling one show out to bash around because of it is strange. Writing? Sure. Turning Picard into a golem? Alright. Having a fleet of copy/paste ships facing another fleet of copy/paste ship? Yes. Having the Federation again be the savoir of an old enemy who, you guessed it, once again lost their homeworld but couldn't handle it themselves for some reason... There are far more reason to complain about than 'wokeness.'
  16. Nice! Some great new life for that old model! Much better than collecting dust in an old box. One question(suggestion), is to chew up the edges of those vertical frames? They look too neat compared to the rest of the damage. Loving the recycling work!
  17. The most recent they have in the works is Strange New Worlds. It'll continue the story of Pike, Spock and No1. Can't wait to see that one!
  18. I think I recall some discussion speculating that the self destruct was damaged from all the fighting in WoK, and by Scotty hot-wiring the whole ship for automation. Although, thinking about it, if you want to keep the ship from falling into enemy hands, destroying the bridge, and all its command hardware, is probably essential. In the end though, it was all about the visuals, such as the name and registry being destroyed before that first blast.
  19. The other ships in the RC pond had better watch out!
  20. Actually, the first big explosion comes from the bridge area, so you could just put a crater there.
  21. Yeah, I'd say that's a nice off white and weather!
  22. In any Wayne's World comparison, I am Garth... The only time Breetia will be envious... Also have that Zentran kit and was really disappointed in it. If the resin model of it wasn't so 'spensive I'd probably pop on it. On the other hand, here's a dio idea for the kit I have! Fantastic result! Now hit those Tomcats! (not really hit, you understand. gently. gently.)
