  1. Past hour
  2. @Big s @pengbuzz thanks. I’ll report back once I track down that LA cleaner. I did some research online and people also use this stuff called purple power? Any experience with that stuff?
  3. Dude, that is phenomenal! Love the added detail you gave to it. Will you be adding Destroids and Monsters to the decks?
  4. It is so wierd, not sure I would ever want it. And since it is a transformer we are garunteed a ton of underside kibble.
  5. Today

    Macross 30

I've been replaying this game, trying to find guides for quests and maps with some sort of translation to it. Granted, been using my phone for some of this stuff, but I'm having just a pain in the butt time completing any objective side quest that isn't "Go here and fight these guys." Still though, game is just as enjoyable to play as it was a decade ago when I first got it.
  7. Absolutely incredible @tekering! Can not WAIT to see it painted up and on display! All your hard work and dedication to the hobby and material is evident here!
  8. Right; that's why I suggested stripping it, and why I also suggested testing the stripping on sprue. I'd truly be upset with myself if something I recommended ruined a project on someone else!
  9. Definitely try it first on a sprue. But I remember the chrome coatings usually didn’t do well trying to get paint to stick. I don’t know for sure on this iron coating or if Lacquer primer just sticks, but testing on a sprue is usually a safe test and it will show if you do need to do a strip on the parts
  10. Sounds good.Iif you have any concerns about the process, you can always test it on a piece of sprue from that kit first.
  11. Cool. I’ll try stripping it clean before moving forward.
  12. Hey guys, I thought I'd take a break from all my 3D-printing to show you what I've been up to this year: Based mostly on Vertex Nebula's 3D modelling (and Inspired by the work of many others here), I've spent the last month or so putting together this 1:1400 battlefortress in preparation for a "Robotech 40th Anniversary" display in the fall. I've done a substantial amount of "digital kitbashing" to achieve the detail required of a model at this scale, since nothing I've found online is anywhere near accurate enough. Consider the prow, for example: This would be adequate for a gaming miniature, perhaps, but certainly not for the size of the model I'm building. Here's my modified version: Even more lacking was the conning tower detail. 🤨 I instead spent about a week putting this together: Unfortunately, this is about all I could manage before the software started crashing on me. A 3D model with over 200 individual elements is apparently too much data for my 12 year-old Mac Pro to handle. 🤕 All the interior detail you see (and the missile launcher) was graciously provided by @Nyankodevice. I was quite pleased with how well it managed to print at this scale. One area that didn't require any digital enhancement was the Macross City interior detail. I'm pretty pleased with this as it is... I have no idea how long all this is gonna take to paint, however! 😓 As always, constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated. 🤗
  13. Hopefully next year. They honor Kazutaka Miyatake or Mika Doi. Or maybe some of the cast of Golion or Gatchaman. They fully deserve it
  14. Thanks for the pictures Joe. They EXPECTED for many to show up. Over this. The fans wanted to see and meet the creators and voice actors of Macross. They didn't want to see digital art. Or posters.
  15. I've tried that, and it never worked well for me. I think you'd be better off priming over clean plastic than a surface like that, as the paint has a much better chance of staying on the model!
  16. 1 - Who come and go FAR too freely. Those who actually know the location should have been kept on a very tight leash. 2 - They should have known it exists but not where it is. They are always one step away from being caught. They should also have insisted they not know where the base is. The base also should have had a code name they used instead of "Yavin base". 3 - Those two get a pass even though they were also one step away from getting caught. They were the ones who knew everything (and somebody like that always exists) 4 - He gets a pass too, since he is just a nut. A far more capable nut then the rest of the Rebels too. Andor gets great marks for making more complex characters then Star Wars has had before (Lucas tried with Anakin and boy did he blow it) but it also needs to take the lumps for items where it is lacking. Last note - Even with the minor problems more stories like this is what Star Wars needs right now. Stories about the average(ish) people in the SW universe.
  17. Thanks for the tip. Am I not able to prime right over it?
  18. I already mentor in the general streaming section, that this unfortunately has that recent ugly Berserk anime kinda look. Not a fan of this appearance, but might give it a try just to see if it’s totally annoying
  19. Sorry. It covers all the US toy releases through Action Masters, then has a big section covering JG1 from Headmasters through Battlestars, before going into G2. It finishes with an "oddities" section that includes a lot of various back-of-package, early concept art, Microchange and Diaclone art, unused G2 art (like Nacho Cheese Jazz, Watermelon Mirage, and Tiger Stripes Grimlock), etc. They mention the UK in the oddities section, but only to show off UK artwork for Grimlock, Slag, Snarl, Blaze, Piranha, Blitz, and Sizzle, plus art of Galvatron that was used for a jigsaw puzzle. That's it. It's like Euro G1 (and Machine Wars) didn't happen). Regarding Superion, well... I'll save it for when I do my final review. I will say, though, that it does make me wonder what they're going to do with Bruticus, though. I mean, I know they're doing the frames and the splitting alt modes for the arms (which I'd give a pass too, except it looks like Vortex will be upside down)*. They could maybe get away with plugging Swindle into the back of a frame, too, given how the Sunbow leg is basically a yellow lump with a purple stripe and not very Jeep or Swindle-y. But Brawl's turret is very obviously the shin, so... do they not do a frame? Do they remove Brawl's turret and plug it on the front side of the frame? Pass it through? I guess time will tell. *Nevermind. While this image from Vortex's instructions leaked: Mark put a photoshoot on Instagram with Vortex rightside-up on Superion's arm. EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, I think they'll do the frame for the legs but backward, so that Swindle and Brawl plug into the front.
  20. Yes they could, but I think when they designed Superion they still had the mindset that you need to have a playable combiner if you just bought Silverbolt on its own (for $90!!!). You know for the kids that these are supposedly made for. I don’t know why that changed with Devastator but there were probably too many design constraints to make a full skeleton for him or the accepted that only people older than 40 are buying these toys. This is one of the reasons why I like 3rd party Transformers, they don’t have to take so many shortcuts. And soon I will have a Superion and Menasor from FansToys without many shortcuts.
  21. If you're planning to paint that model in classic colors, I strongly recommend you strip the metallic finish off it before the attempt. L.A. Totally Awesome!! cleaner removes chrome safely and effectively; just let it soak overnight in it (available at your local Dollar Tree or dollar store).
  22. Yeah, the indeterminate window for standard parts deliveries can be frustrating. I dislike that they break them up into bestseller and standard categories in the first place, but then they also charge $7 service fees if a minimal number of parts isn't met, and that goes for each category, so you can end up paying $14 on top of what you're paying for a smaller order. I'd rather my money went towards actual bricks, so I always wait to order when I've got a project requiring, or potentially requiring, enough parts to exceed the service fee limits, as was the case with this last order. The numbers of parts compared to actual numbers I ordered were so random and excessive at times that it raised my antennae. I've never had such an odd experience before with their online Pick-A-Brick. I appreciate the free extra parts though. I'm curious if I'm going to have the same experience with my standard parts. Guess we'll see.
