  2. ActionToys made a really cool Gokin Series Godmarz ... lots of fun to mess around with!
  3. Started A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation. It's an isekai series, but it's one of those rare ones that tries to subvert the usual formula by having its protagonist get isekai'd from one fantasy world to another. In this case, a young and sheltered nobleman finds himself suddenly transported to another world and rather than make a fuss about it by panicking he opts to take the whole thing in stride and treat it as an extended vacation. First impressions are that it's actually pretty dull. It's definitely different... but the protagonist is so utterly unbothered by every aspect of his predicament that it feels like he's on something. He greets being dumped in an alley in an unfamiliar country or having someone try to lop his head off with the same energy that a normal person might reserve for informing their waiter that a drink they ordered didn't make it onto the check. Hard to get invested in the protagonist's story when they don't feel like they're invested in their own story! The Invisible Man and His Soon-To-Be Wife is a supernatural romcom about a blind woman named Shizuka who works as a receptionist at the Tounome Private Detective Agency. Her employer, detective Tounome, is a literal invisible man (ala the H.G. Wells novel) who is utterly fascinated by her ability to perceive him where normal people cannot. So they start up an odd relationship together as a blind woman and unseeable man. The setting seems... a bit odd. Mostly like the modern world, though there seem to be various flavors of beast-folk (running the gamut from "human with animal ears" to furry mascot). One set of clients that show up at the Tounome agency profess to be literal space aliens. It's mostly just a framing device for a cute but straightforward romcom. It's very light and cheerful. Almost to slice-of-life levels. Definitely one for the "easy viewing" category, if you're looking to clear your palate after something heavy.

  5. That non-transformable figure has incorrect forearms and arm placement. The Target Exclusives will be listed on Tuesdays so hopefully Hound goes up this Tuesday. Looking forward to getting Hound.

  7. Received my Miria 639 yesterday. It's interesting to note , I received another order a few days before that i had shipped weeks after. Maybe they're finally catching up on shipping orders..
  8. Hey did anyone ever release a cockpit/canopy upgrade to their previous line of 1/72 resin models where the cockpit and canopy were a combined resin piece which made it impossible to paint the cockpit interior?
  9. Oh I know. Most of my Bandai stuff is bought locally now. I just wish HLJ wouldn't open pre-orders until they're sure how much stock they're getting. It seems like they just guess how much they'll get. I'll keep using HLJ for non-Bandai. They've been great for getting the new PLAMAX stuff, kotobukiya stuff like Ikaruga kits and Legend of Galactic Heroes ships, moderoid stuff like the Horizon Zero Dawn kit, and Hasegawa in general. I also get my hobby mags there.
  10. Thanks! Just wanted to demonstrate the pose-ability of the threezero. The waist rotation and knee flexibility give a lot of interesting dynamic options compared to other VF-1Xs, especially in battroid mode. I like the sculpt of the DX and arcadias, but i'm not sure my arcadias could achieve these same poses.
  11. They pretty much are the only ones in Japan that do Bandai preorders to overseas customers, so I guess I could see that they probably get a lot of preorders for Bandai stuff, and I get the feeling that Bandai tells them that there will be more product on initial release. Luckily it usually doesn’t take long for the restocks. I do think that the U.S. sources are a decent option though these days unless the item is Japan only.

  13. Even the light-up lightsabers, which make more sense IMHO, were a very short-lived gimmick (that also crossed over to City as flashlights for police). It seems the build quality of the sets in which these smart bricks are being employed is rather substandard to poor; for my money at any age, I'd rather have the most accurate depiction of the subject matter over lights and sounds. However, that's just my own preference as an older LEGO fan growing up in the very analog days of the 70s and 80s. At any rate, you make a good point about LEGO's other attempts at integrating the digital into their regular building play pattern, and they've all ended with lackluster results. IMHO, LEGO is best as a construction toy, so ever-improving on that core tenant should be their focus. Edit: I'll amend my comment about lackluster builds, as I bought a few of the Hidden Side sets, and while I cared little for the digital features, the sets themselves were good to downright excellent builds, judging from the few I own personally. Looking at the other sets, though, I thought the majority were brilliantly done, as they not only had the digital features on the periphery, but most of the sets themselves had transformative features built in to represent the haunted nature of buildings and objects. It was imaginative and well-implemented, IMHO, one of their better stand-alone themes.
  14. I also just got notice on my Kotobukiya Steel Haze. So I guess it's still mostly a case of HLJ having problems fulilling Bandai orders. And maybe a chance of delay with other popular products.

  16. I don't think this is true, and historically, these kind of forced gimmicks fail. Vidiyo, Hidden Side, Dimensions... The Mario theme is doing okay, I presume, probably due to the popularity of the franchise, and the quality of set designs, and if I had to guess, not at all due to the weird Mario/Luigi figures with the embedded electronics. For instance, I bought this set, but I have no interest in the Mario figure (shown faded out). But even though I don't really like that Mario figure, at least it makes sense. Mario is basically the "smart brick" in these sets, and his expressions and speech change based on the tiles he interacts with. You move him around, he says things and makes faces. That makes sense. But just having a brick, sitting there in a exposed in a weird spot, making primitive noises and flashing? That doesn't really work. What's well integrated in Mario sets is weirdly forced into these Star Wars sets.
  17. Hell Mode started today. It seems to be a typical isekai. But maybe it will surprise me.
  18. Moving on to working on the Walkure shuttle now in order to further add to my stable of civilian craft. For such a simple shape, that nose section is proving surprisingly difficult to get right, but I think I'm starting to get close.
  19. I don't know where to post this. But today is my birthday and my little cousin brought me this Banpresto Sheryl Nome DX figure White & Brownie ver. Which extremely hard to find in Vietnam and I have a photo here to share with everyone Best sister ever 🥰
  20. I've never been a big fan of lights or sounds in my toys. It just never mattered to me, and the toys usually suffer concessions for it, especially from the 70s-90s when electronics were much larger, energy burning incandescent light bulbs were the only option, and the toy required a voluminous load of batteries to affect the functions. That said I own a number that have said gimmicks, and every now and again I'll activate them for a quick thrill and to make sure the batteries are still viable. My favorite of these toys is Transformers Animated Ultra Magnus: Jeff Bennett's Robert Stack impression is spot on and his lines, taken nigh verbatim from the show, are still smile-inducing. Second runner up would be Agent Knight with his William Daniels sound-alike delivering KITT's lines, and that pulsing scanner and the whoo-whoo sound effect. Good stuff, that. However, smart bricks aren't the breakthrough innovation I would have asked for, either now or as a wee lad. A family of this, however- that would be game changing.
