    DX Chogokin VF-17S

I was originally planning just to keep it in fighter mode and look at it only with my reading glasses off. 😂 But, after looking at it in person, I just can't stand it with the completely wrong legs, wrong backplate, wrong shoulders etc. I love the VF-17 design too much to keep this travesty. On a positive note, I do think Bandai did a good job with the color though. I will remain happy with my original 90s Bandai 1/65 and Yamato 1/60 versions.
  3. @Papa Rat That looks amazing - you need to apply this to the TV Queadluun Rau!
  4. Oh ho, look at Mr. Deep Pockets over here playing on an actual emulator. 🤪
  5. Western adaptations of Eastern media have a natural tendency of doing just that with unerring regularity; so much so, that when one of these forays does turn out decent, let alone - good, it is worthy of note... Netflix got One Piece right, they also got Cowboy Bebop catastrophically wrong; which will it be this time around? Hoping for the former, expecting the latter.
  6. https://v-storage.jp/cont/item/?item_detail=BCQM-0032 That price is insanely high. I guess I'll wait and see for a reasonable priced US release.

    DX Chogokin VF-17S

This is a repaint of a toy from 2012 that even then was the worst of the (post original VF-25) DX Frontier toys... letdown was inevitable. At least it doesn't have those disastrous removable wing pegs!
  8. Bandai has now had two consecutive flops in terms of sales, both from Macross 7, in the DX line. While this one makes sense, the VF-19kai tanked for other reasons, but definitely quality and looks were not the problem. On the HMR side, the VF-0S with Ghost isn't doing so hot either. If my impression is right, most revival reissues aren't doing particurlaly great as well. The only ones doing well enough seem to be the VF-1 series. Of course, it could be argued that people just don't want to double or triple dip into products and charaters they already own (give us something new!), but all in all, including the fact that mecha anime has pretty much completely fallen out of fashion, other than perhaps the VF-1 series, I'm worried what Bandai's bean counters will take home from this series of flops and lukewarm sales.
  9. This is probably the first time I feel like selling my valk even before I receive it lol. I'm usually quite open minded about experiencing new valks myself before having an opinion on it, but seems like this VF-17S is just universally disliked. Even hardcore 17S lovers like Graham couldn't like it.

    DX Chogokin VF-17S

  11. I think it has a shot, as long as they don’t try to do an established story and just do something original with it. It’s gonna have to try to actually be worse than most of the Japanese Gundam stuff recently
  12. That’s looking rather interesting
  13. Thanks @Graham! Seems that the Command Vorct, Arc. is popular at the moment since Bandai released their HG expansion set last year to complete the Vorc series! and the new Mag. from Hobby Japan seems to compliment this. I'm sure it's a series we will get in the Hi-Metal R line eventually, but will be costly 😱

Not even worth fighter mode ?
  15. yup. and here's a recent jp-fan reply to TN's own PR-tweet: https://twitter.com/t_features/status/2034230867384787375 web-translated: Maamo's reply-tweet if you can't see it from the TN-tweet at https://twitter.com/mamochansw1911/status/2036393917730660648
  16. It was a magazine series published in Hobby Japan. Here's an excellent overview: Commando Vorct overview | Tim Eldred https://share.google/XTO2pk7sMJXCAwVOG
  17. Picked up two units from Mandarake last year for 16,000 yen. which if you think about it, include a nice weapons pack. but splitting them up with add on packs will make it easier in the future, for example the Birkoff squad when the parts come available.... @Graham What series is the Commando Vorct version from?
  18. years later, Bandai decided it will release a much bigger and much chunkier version with light-up gimmickry: https://twitter.com/t_features/status/2036610768163242182 web-translated: Click the Tweet-Link to watch the PR-video since it's not on youtube, yet...
  19. A VF-17 that fails the @Graham test is no real VF-17.
  20. Uh, no thanks, I'd rather use an actual emulator not a browser-based one.
  21. So I decided to try adding some mottled texture to the Bellvine. My kid was kind enough to let me perform surgery on one of their old stuffies to extract some poly fill to use as a filter to spray through. It’s hard to photograph but I am digging the outcome. Less is more that’s for sure. Going to add a topcoat next and then it’s time to muck it up with some washes and panel liner. The silver hoses are going to look great once all the recessed areas get some oil wash sitting in there.
  22. Just picked up this little guy for about USD23. Yeah, I know it's CM's and the plastic will probably break in multiple places as soon as I take it out of the box, but heck it was cheap enough. 😅 I've always liked the Commando Vorct, Rane Custom design and it will probably be years, if ever until Bandai makes an HMR version.
