yeah, this is the review i was looking at that also compares Intel vs. AMD plus last gen AMD that i linked. review says it's about the same performance as the Ryzen 7 350 AI for this particular laptop. Yeah, i'll pm you if i get another laptop and will ship it to you. -

I'd watch Plus first. Mac2's animation was sketchy and stay away from the English dub at all costs. Plus has one of the best dubs out there and the animation is far better overall. Only other item of note is that Plus has the most mature subject matter of any Macross show.

It might help if I knew a bit more about what kinds of tasks you do besides presentations, and what kinds of games you want to run. On paper, both of those Zenbooks should have similar GPU performance (Arc is slightly more capable, but Radeon is more stable with more mature drivers), both capable of playing most modern games at 1080p low-to-medium. Both also should offer more CPU performance than the Yoga, with the Intel CPU pulling away from the Ryzen by a wider margin. If you do decide to pull the trigger on another laptop shoot me a PM. I'm not sure if she'd actually want it, since she mostly uses her laptop for spreadsheets and web browsing, but that Yoga you already have should still be better than what she's using, so I might be interested in buying it off you if you're not going to use it. -
Re-watching AVATAR on D+. After over 15 years the VFX still holds up, could be released as a new film tbh. Interestingly its the shorter of the three films, probably why its considered the best of the three.

Somehow I forgot that setting Batocera up properly involves literal days of scraping box art... Aside from that, I'm coming along. I've got the following set up with (nearly) complete North American retail sets (with a smattering of Japanese and European games) with box art for: Atari 2600 Atari 5200 Atari 7800 Atari Lynx Atari Jaguar Colecovision Intellivision Magnavox Odyssey 2 NES SNES Gameboy Gameboy Color Gameboy Advance Virtual Boy N64 Turbo Grafx 16 Sega Master System 3DO I should also have (nearly) complete sets, but hit my daily scraping limit so box art, for Sega Genesis Sega CD Sega 32X Sega Sega Saturn Sega Dreamcast Neo Geo AES Then, due to storage constraints, I have more curated collections with art for A variety of arcade ROMS that run in MAME TurboGrafx Turbo CD Bandai Wonderswan Nintendo Gamecube As well as curated sets that still need box art for Sony PlayStation Sony PlayStation 2 Sony PSP I've tested at least one game for every included platform successfully, so I know I at least have the emulator cores and BIOS files set up right. I'll start scraping again tomorrow, then I have to wait for my Sinden gun to come so I can see how it works. -

the only laptop i have that is the yoga. I do alot of presentation with power point so i need a touchpad that's reliable on the go. where i don't have to set up a separate mouse. the trackpad is inconsistent on this yoga, i'm looking to possible keep and live with it or swap with another laptop in the same range and get a separate gaming laptop. or get a decent laptop that can do both. this 860m is pretty weak in the ryzen 7 AI 350, i read the prev gen's ryzen7's gpu was stronger. yeah, i might keep it since it was open box for 392 dirt cheap. Azreal and Mike, i was thinking of looking for the intel arc version in the same class since the gpu is much better for gaming. like this one open box is $530: ASUS ZenBook 14 Laptop: 14" FHD+ OLED Touch, Ultra 7 255H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD or this Ryzen 7 one: Open Box: ASUS ZenBook 14: 14" FHD+ OLED Touch, Ryzen 7 8840HS, 16GB LPDDR5, 512GB SSD $476 -

If I were to pick one over the other, I’d definitely pick plus. I like the details and the attention to action. You really get to see what’s happening. 2 does things so quick that you don’t really get to see much as far as details and things that seem cool are off screen in seconds if not milliseconds. although, I’d definitely pick 2 over most later macross stuff

I assume if you leave the pre-order in place, it'll either stay there forever unfulfilled, or they'll charge you in 2-4 years when they finally have stock for you. Well after you don't want it from them anymore.

With how rough it’s becoming for the average hobbyist, maybe we should start a thread to explain the different issues with certain sites and where the best spots for preordering and best spots for shipping or lowest costs overall kind of discussions for our favorite models. Like some just won’t offer Bandai kits while a place like Hlj might not get a guaranteed amount in their shipments or how some items won’t be available to people in the U.S. and options for finding those.
-
They are mostly focused on the 1/35 kits, but I’m pretty sure we’ll see more 1/24. Keep in mind that they are a slower company and even with 1/35 they usually don’t do more than one or two kits a year. There’s also the Plamax kits in that scale as well, so I think that so far they are trying not to step on each others toes, but I’d say it might be a little bit of a wait for the next larger kit release from either company

General Sci-fi designs across various media

Oddly there is a YouTube guy that immigrated from Britain to the U.S. that has a YouTube channel called Lost in the Pond where he talks about the differences he’s noticed from both countries over the years and recently did a video of name changes of movies from the USA to England when they pop up overseas. It was the first time I ever heard there was a different Dennis the Menace comic on that side of the pond. He didn’t really have time to go over every movie or anything, just the ones he could remember off hand for the most part. Fun little channel for fun useless information -
Unable to cancel an item!? Yeah, that is sucky! WTH!? What happens if you just leave it? Is restocked (with a fee) or sent automatically?

I was going to add "and the next story begins" but the pessimist in me had me rewrite it. Though I'm sure some kind of followup project will be coming.

General Sci-fi designs across various media
F-ZeroOne replied to M'Kyuun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I had the original release of the "Rogue Trooper" videogame; it was actually pretty good fun. By no means top tier but for what it was, much better than one would expect. It had a suitably "chunky" look to the hardware. Its not the first "Rogue Trooper" game - one was actually released for various 8-bit home computers, along with a "Nemesis the Warlock" game and (I think ) a couple of "Strontium Dog" titles. Peter Elsons work I know, though until now I didn't know his name - I loved the "Stainless Steel Rat" books (and they also had a "2000AD" adaptation; its basically the "Kevin Bacon" of British pop culture... 😅) Chris Moore and Jim Burns, again, not overly familiar names but I've almost certainly seen their work. Comics were a big part of British popular culture up to the mid-80s; war comics were still popular here long after they'd faded in the US, and it arguably took "Star Wars" to finally dethrone them. In a way I could say, comics wise, I experienced American comics in a kind of reverse process; when I grew up in the early 80s US comics were relatively rare and when the stories made it over it was often as a back-up strip in another Marvel-associated title (like "Star Wars". To save money; these imports were often re-printed in black and white rather than colour; one story that stands out in my memory is Tony Stark somehow being locked in his armour and Ant-Man having to go in to solve the issue whilst being attacked by the Iron Man suits internal defences). Sometimes Marvel and DC stories would be published in compilations (rather like how "Judge Dredd" comics were released in the US); actual US editions I usually acquired packaged in bundles at "holiday camps" or on holidays to the Spanish islands. One time I acquired a stash of "Archie" comics at an event in a nearby city, which introduced me to a whole different style of US comic; arguably more "realistic" than superheroes and even native publications like "The Beano" (which while usually set in the "real" world were full of what is usually described as "wacky hi-jinks"). And to this day I still don't recognise this "Dennis the Menace" version you claim to have on your side of the pond... 😅 Please note I grew up in a semi-rural part of the UK so don't take my youthful SF media experiences as necessarily reflective of the whole country. Anyway. Before I derail things any further, to my shame it has taken me this long to realise I have somehow, in a discussion of "General Sci-fi Designs Across Various Media", failed to mention the Granddaddy of British SF - Herbert George Wells. Granted, he didn't directly illustrate the iconic Martian tripod, but his descriptions have certainly proved a big inspiration to many over the decades. And as a further dive into obscure British SF media, theres the rather over-ambitious BBC production (adapted from a book series) "The Tripods" from back in the day... -

What are the specs on the laptop you are currently using for work or what field of work are you in where Yoga would not work? Weight? The Yoga will do for most work-related tasks. The 860M and RAM are the only things holding it back from being a "gaming" laptop. Need more context. -
My main problem is they are no longer at all reliable at fulfillng pre-orders. But they don't want you to cancel when they can't fulfill your pre-order. They don't want you to be free to cancel and buy somewhere else. I have open, unfulfilled pre-orders at HLJ for the following: HG VF-22S Max HG VF-22S Miria HG VF-31C DX HG VF-31C decals RG Wing Zero EW MG Gundam Barbatos Lupus MGSD Aerial Armored Core VI 30MM Open Faith Armored Core VI 30MM VE-40A Armored Core VI 30MM Weapon Set 06 Kotobukiya AC Steel Haze Hasegawa VT-1 HG GquuuuuuX decal set 1 HG GquuuuuuX decal set 2 ALL of these were pre-ordered right when pre-orders went live. ALL of these are still unfulfilled. I've bought most of these local now. For the MGSD Aerial, I already bought 2 local. But under HLJ's new policy, I can't cancel these. They're just supposed to sit there. Until maybe they get stock in a year or 2, by which time I no longer need them to send me a kit because I got it local. And this is JUST stuff unfulfilled lately, I had to cancel a ton of stuff before they changed their cancellation policy. I bought almost all my HG macross, Armored Core VI 30MM, and recent RG and MG Gundam kits locally, after pre-orders with HLJ all failed. It's the lack of ability to fulfill pre-orders, paired with the new policy of not letting you cancel pre-orders that they fail to fulfill, that sucks.

I bet at its release the makers and right holders considered M2 canon. Kawamori wasn't involved. Only when he returned to making Macross did M2 join the Kelvin timeline. Even the Kawamori post Macross TV stories belong in a 3rd alternative timeline in my opinion. In that timeline Macross TV happened but stylistically it looked more like DYRL in design. Once you make a retcon no matter how small it creates an alternative universe. Canon is meaningless. It is whatever they say it is to support the latest project. M2 and M+ just watch and enjoy both for their individual merits.

SDF-1 3D Model + 3D Print [SD Machine Style]

If I may... the legs are on backwards, a simple pop & swap from the hips should do. Still super awesome to see it super-dimensioned! Also, great idea splitting the thighs! I might have to update the model in a similar fashion. -
@tekering the scale looks great! Love it
