Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures

So I went to the All-Japan show yesterday and had a great time with Adrian from Big West and Egan from Anime News Network. We went out for Mexican food afterwards and talked for a couple of hours until I had to get back to Shinjuku and take the long, 3 hour journey back home (I was too cheap to take the shinkansen). Rest assured, the new Q-Rau has a TOS Millia figure! So I asked the Hasegawa rep why we didn't get a Kamjin with the Glaug kit. He basically said that the scale is off, and it would not have looked right. I think they are given the dimensions and they make their model accordingly. This kinda reminds me of the dilemma with the Snowspeeders from Empire Strikes Back. I wonder if the actors were sitting Indian-style in the life-size props because there is just NO leg room afforded. This 1:12 resin figure of Minmay looks like the version of her from the Macross The First manga. That's the dress she has in the first volume, with her China dress opened in front to show cleavage. I'm sure I'll get this kit when it comes out. Valkyries look so cool with just the legs extended. I love that look. The figures of Hikaru, Minmay, and Misa are gonna be plastic. I was expecting resin.

yeah these look real neat! If the Truck Ironhide turns into is real, what about the Helicopter? This is the only thing I have found so far, a Hellhound from Patlabor with the landing gear on the wingtips and tail like the new Blackout. I am not very familiar with helicopters in general so perhaps one of you has a better idea.- 17749 replies

That’s what it is. I totally forgot they were thin and for that purpose. I was thinking these were for the back of the arms for some reason, but those are on the main sheet. Boy is my face red. Thank you.

Apparently, a sequel to Legacy was the original plan, and Leto's character was a much smaller part of that movie. When that movie fell through, Jared pushed to make a new movie centering around his character happen. Real monkey paw situation that we get an actor that has the pull and the drive to get a Tron movie greenlit, but the actor is Jared Leto. Personally, I find him repellant enough that I'm going to wait for streaming for this one.

Nothing a little styrene and glue couldn't fix if I were so inclined. I'm real curious about this Overgear series. It just might pull me back into TFs.- 17749 replies

Nice! Yeah, pretty sure that's their take on the 24. I also found this online, which is essentially identical (they did make the new shield) but was labeled as a 24.

like these...you pull the thin strip from the thick (they aren't really that wide, there is overlap)

Funny, I was recently wondering when we'd discuss sticker placement on these things! I thought those were for the legs-the wrap around stripe? yeah...here is a pic when they were applied (the leftover)

I see the head sprue has both the Milia face and the blank visor. We should see a regular female Rau in the near future.

Agreed. And there has always been re issues of sentinel so patience will pay off I think.

I’m hoping to visit Japan again next summer. As that trip gets closer, I’m definitely going to wait to buy some things or maybe have them shipped to family in Tokyo so they’ll be waiting for me.

I never actually see the Macross kits from the og series show up here in the U.S. some of the ones from plus and other franchises have, but lately haven’t seen og Macross stuff

If you wait a bit longer, it will be cheaper to pick it up in person...

Most of the people I’ve known about that go camping or fishing usually seem to be well stocked with a cooler or two. Even while taking to people about a single morning of fishing seem to finish off five before they return in the afternoon -

Is it? Genuinely asking. The folks I know who go camping inevitably pair camping with other outdoor activities like birdwatching, hiking, caving, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting, and the like. I've never encountered a camping enthusiast whose idea of camping is just "pitch a tent and get sh*tfaced". Even the campers in horror movies do more than that with their time outdoors (excl. getting chased and/or killed). Gen's cooler's like a 30+ can affair and he's emptying that sucker in a single sitting. -
