  1. Past hour
  2. @tekering USS Cygnus and look at the Palomino!!! The Black Hole is one of my childhood favorite movies. I was obsessed with B.O.B. and V.I.CENT and the Sentry robots. Wow this is bringing back found memories. I am blown away at the amount of detail in such a small package. ♥️
  3. My giant SDF-1 languishes while an even older ship design lies on my workbench... I'm sure some of you are old enough to recognize this one. ☺️ Despite its diminutive size, it demands a great deal of internal lighting... ...not all of which I've managed to achieve so far. What's more, I want it to display it with the Palomino, at a matching scale of 1:3000: A daunting task, for such a tiny model!
  4. Today
  5. Damn. Been looking for that for a long while; even on here.
  6. Like the good reviews here. I'll watch ALIEN: Earth as soon as we're done with The Righteous Gemstones. But now I have to avoid spoilers, lol.
  7. I just sold my Camo GBP to another collector who never owned a Yamato GBP armour. The first thing he noticed was the fact that all the missiles were removable, unlike the new Bandai. This is a detail a really miss from the Yamatos.
  8. As of right now there's five different versions of Cobi's Phantom II out or soon to be released. F-4F Luftwaffe F-4S Black Bunny F-4N Midway Mig Killer F-4C Robin Olds F-4M/FGR.2 RAF I'm really hoping for a Jolly Rogers at this point.
  9. How was the availability of the two "Fantasy" GBP's that Yamato released? Where the retail or specials? Sadly I couldn't find the post on them in the forum... These and the corresponding Valk's aren't based on anything in the Tv show while this at least still mimics the regular GBP-1S but with different colours Picture from @jenius @ anymoon.com....
  10. Ah, I see your point. The animated films are better Transformers movies, 'cause they don't sideline the robots in favour of a human protagonist (as the live-action films consistently did). Still, I found "smart dog" Bumblebee a lot less obnoxious than "Badassatron" B-127. 😒
  11. Yeah; we get to see how that began to disintegrate:
  12. If someone loans me a Tread missile for 3D scanning, I'll give them a free set of reproductions. Scanning should take no time at all, and I should be able to return-ship the loaner missile(s) within a day. I'm a stubborn perfectionist - if there is such a thing - so I don't know how long it'll take to translate the scans to a physical reproduction, but I'll come through on my promise. Just PM me.
  13. Quite a particular first post on a Macross forum. 😅
  14. Price at times plays a physchological factor in determining the quality of an item.
  15. I utterly dislike stories that flash back and fourth in time. Disconnects viewers from where they are with the actual build of present events. Writers think this type of mystery box gimmick might keep viewers further engaged with questions (as if they're not confident of their own writing so have to over analyze "mystery"), but I wholeheartedly just want to see a story unfold as I'm there.
  16. Great pic! I love seeing them side-by-side. And your rotating Gatling gun?! Amazing!
  17. I also watched both eps and enjoyed them. Like @Hikuro, I have to wonder at the purpose of showing future flashes without any context- the story's chugging along and suddenly-flashes- and then back to story. It's just a bit jarring, and without any causal effects, it seems more of an odd interruption than any meaningful furtherance of the narrative. Unless- I just had a thought- they're the product of the cyborg security officer's mind. That might explain some things. Anyway, there's enough going on to maintain interest and anticipation for the next episode. I hope it captures a wide audience.
  18. Look, I love Bumblebee. Charlie's hands-down the best human character in any Transformers movie. But respectfully, I disagree. I think Bumblebee was more flawed- Bee, who exhibits all the intelligence of a smart dog, winds up being a prop in what's ultimately Charlie's story. Transformers One, on the other hand, was actually about Transformers. Some elements of the story, like Pax becoming Prime, were a little rushed to fit the kids' movie runtime, but I felt like it made the deterioration in the relationship between D-16 and Pax believable. So, yeah, while Bumblebee is my favorite live-action Transformers film by a very wide margin, I happen to like both theatrical animated films better.
  19. Maybe 😇: Regarding extra missiles, Yamato and adhesive putty were my hook-up :
  20. Honestly, never considered it. Been staring at the Toynami’s for so long, that I always pictured the cockpit as white. Also, that model I linked in the first post probably left a lasting impression on me.
  21. The “Dammit, Mog! Just show us picks of the finished product already!!” Post: So about that Gatling gun, it does rotate: IMG_8964.mov BUT I wanted to make sure I could also mount it in bomber mode. Slight shifting of parts and some adhesive putty, and the gun stays in place: All hardpoints have weapons thanks to adhesive putty too: Also, Hou-Rey combo in effect : So because of the “wonderful” limitations of the Detolf shelf, I did have to pose the fighter combo at an extreme angle: But I did make sure to snap a bunch of glamour shots: Especially with her Alpha-Beta cousins 😎:
  22. Damn, Mog! That looks really good in red. Ouch. That explains how you got it done so quickly. 😅 At least spray it down with a couple coats of matte topcoat to conceal the brush strokes a little. That'll help prevent the stickers from peeling off, too. 👍
  23. i need bonus missiles
  24. I am compelled to remind Mike of Travis Knight's Bumblebee. Transformers One was a pleasant surprise (given its disastrous marketing campaign), but it has neither the heart nor the humour of Knight's film.
  25. Well that's cool! Did you think about making the top of the cockpit red like the CM's?
  26. WORK IN PROCESS POST 1) The Prep: Since this was no longer going to be a Mars Base Tread, I went about sanding off the MB markings on the white parts: Also, sanded off the NO STEP printing on the wings later. Not sure how they do it on real wings, but I always thought the NO STEP signs are supposed to be read from the edge of the wing, not the opposite way the are marked here. I also tried to sand down the shoulder missile racks, in order to reduce some paint rub: Probably didn’t work as well as I had hoped. 2) The Painting: I looked over the Tread and spotted a few screws here and there. There’s probably a few screws hiding under some panels. But I was too nervous to try and pop them out or risk damaging the Beast. So, spray painting went out the door. Because I have no skills or experience with an airbrush, had to go with brush painting. So, apologies for any visible brush strokes and flaws in the painting. I also used white paint to better cover up the parts that had the sanded off tampo markings. It’s a little rough and thick, but just had to make due. We shall call it Optimus Tread : The poor Tread had to be put in some compromising positions, just to get properly painted 😅: And as previously posted in the Mospeada thread, I went ahead and painted the fixed pose pilot in Rey’s outfit: I would have preferred if Sentinel had packed his bike there too, BUT he does look good in the Tread: The missiles also got red-tipped to give them a little “pop”: 3) The Panel-Lining: After taking forever to paint every nook and cranny and then using a toothpick or sandpaper to pick off any excess and paint slop, it was time to panel-line the Beast: As I’ve done in with other birds, I use a grey micron pen for the lines on white parts and a black micron pen for the lines on the colored bits. Always like the results. 4) The. . . Umm P’Stickering (to keep the alliteration going ) : So if the Tread was gonna combine with Houquet’s Jupiter Base Legioss, I had to properly sticker her up. I recall singing the praises of Toynami’s stickers for the Beta many years ago. And they still hold up even to this day: I did have to make bigger stickers for the wings too: Went through a lot of trial and error with the sticker paper back when I did the custom YF-21 years ago. But got it down to an exact science now. Now, we tie it all together in the next post. . .
  27. I'm sticking to Jada Toys.
