Nice shading!

Well, that's the rub with American retailers- they all have their markups in addition to S&H and whatever tariffs may apply, not to mention sales taxes. But, at least it's an option and it's still cheaper than paying aftermarket once it's retired. I figure once they tack on taxes, tariffs, and shipping, you'll be paying about $80-90, so it's likely about the same regardless. I'm just happy to have a secure preorder. I hope they follow this up with Oberan's Gazette for next year.

That is starting off great. Do the parts require a lot of filling or just line up fairly easy?

General Sci-fi designs across various media
M'Kyuun replied to M'Kyuun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Oddly, though I've always had a strong interest in robots in sci-fi, I didn't grow up watching any Super Robot shows, not even Voltron. I did see Mighty Orbots, however, and really liked the show. Too bad it only got one season (Thanks, Tonka. Grrrr๐ ). It was only decades later that I learned Mighty Orbots was based on God Mars, and there were even plans to release a retooled version of that toy that more closely resembled the MO animation model. I'm digressing, but all this is to say I never cultivated a liking for the vast majority of Super Robots. I liked Big O- cool show and the mecha was cool, and I really enjoyed the Netflix Voltron series (still haven't seen the original Japanese Go Lion or the watered-down American versions), and I've tried twice to watch Super Robot Wars, which I own, but have yet to complete after close to a decade. I'm not sure why they don't appeal to me, but they just don't. I do like most of the Gundam series that I've watched, but Gundam is its own thing, just like Macross, which is awesome. I think one aspect that puts me off of most early Super Robot stuff is the combiner aspect and the fact that all the ships that make up the robot just look like disembodied poorly disguised robot parts. The greatest appeal of Transformers to me was always their realistic and believable alt modes, and that is still one of the most alluring aspects. The Dinobots and Insecticons are oddballs, as I really like them, too. By my own preferences, I shouldn't, but I do. I think it's the fact that they're robotic dinosaurs and robotic insects instead of going the BW route of realistic animals. I like BW, but more for the storytelling than the robot forms, although, admittedly, I have quite a few toys, so make of that what you will. At the end of the day, I'm still more of a vehicle/gadget/robotic animal alt mode fan than of realistic creatures/organic things. -
The lil dude is really cool

My intent was to warn and get feedback.. but I could see how it sounded negatively to the store as I was in disappointment at the time๐

Hello friends Mekanim-Userss! Part of December: Shipping News: As you know, the shipping issue is still unresolved. However, I have found companies that ship to the USA: DHL and UPS, but they are expensive. As soon as I finish the kits, I will send each of you an email with the final cost so you can make the payment, using the cheapest option I can find at that time. This will be for next year (January/February 2026). Kit updates: I've finished printing almost everything. I'm still printing small missiles and the Holders. The rifles are ready. The large missiles are ready. The Addons for Legioss-Gun are ready. The extra models from some orders are ready. Extra News: I've started experimenting with some AI techniques, and I've gotten some great results. Currently, I haven't achieved results without my direct input, but let me show you what I got and what I subsequently had to adjust to reach an amazing outcome: This is an original Mospeada line art design, Invid Protect. Gemini returned these images to me with a prompt of no more than 10 words. Then I used the Rodin (Hyper3D) app and obtained a model with these characteristics. Not bad mesh, but with little detail. I said okay, this will speed things up. I rolled up my sleeves and in just 2 days, working in sporadic hours, I managed to finish the details and the joints. Then I printed it at a 1:48 scale, the smallest scale for Sentinel-Toy. Here's the result in just two days: I plan to print it at a 1:12 scale! I still need to adjust the joints, but it's just a matter of a couple of hours. I haven't made any more progress on this because I'm spending most of my free time finishing the kits. But let me tell you, I'm obsessed with this technology. Here are some images I generated of some Mospeada designs: IA Scott Bernard version My Adapted version without Head and joints WIP (1:12 scale) I plan to make this Scott in 1:12 scale to use the extra head that comes with the SentinelToy. IA version of Refless Sera and Korg IA Version I also plan to make this character RainyBoy (IA version) in 1:12 scale, since I've had the motorcycle modeled for a couple of years now. This is my last post of the year, and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for supporting my projects and for your patience with the progress of the kits. I ask for a little more patience. Happy 2026!

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
Seto Kaiba replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
So there's a bit of a story there too... but a shorter one. Y'see, before Studio Nue was founded as Crystal Art Studio in 1972 its founders collaborated together in a science fiction doujinshi circle called SF Central Art and published a science fiction fanzine called Crystal and ran a monthly fan get-together called the Crystal Convention. They continued to publish doujinshi under the SF Central Art name for years after they formed the company and began doing science fiction planning and illustrations professionally and Studio Nue employees were able to get involved in that in their spare time. Shoji Kawamori attended the Crystal Convention as a student and got involved in SF Central Art around the time he joined Studio Nue in 1979 where he was involved in their newest publication GUNSIGHT, a Mobile Suit Gundam fanzine. That project would ultimately be responsible for a LOT of the familiar lore and worldbuilding that now makes up the foundation of Gundam's Universal Century. Despite being credited now as the founder of the Real Robot genre of mecha anime, Gundam at the time was still pretty much seen as a Super Robot anime because there were a lot of gaps in the original show's worldbuilding and technical setting. SF Central Art's GUNSIGHT saw a lot of dedicated adult SF writers and artists put their heads together to come up with what they felt were plausible and cogent explanations for everything from what the colony drop actually did to Earth to why Mobile Suits exist and how a lot of the technology works (including how Minovsky particles function). Shoji Kawamori was a part of this effort (and threw a nod to it into Macross with the Macross's bridge callsign being "Gunsight 1". They took it from the realm of Super Robot unexplained science-is-magic to more of a hard sci-fi angle. Kenichi Matsuzaki, a Studio Nue member who'd been a writer on Gundam, was able to organize this fan effort into the original official Gundam setting publication Gundam Century. One of the things that Kawamori et. al. were a bit bothered by when it came to Gundam's worldbuilding was that the series never really established the why of the story's iconic giant robots. Other than "it's the space future", why are 18 meter giant robots the new standard of warfare? Why 18 meters? Why giant robots at all? GUNSIGHT, and later its successor Gundam Century, had to figure all that out after the fact and explain what in-universe contrivances could make such a weapon practical. There really wasn't any clear reason or justification for why a giant humanoid robot would exist AT ALL. So when Shoji Kawamori was working on his own giant robot anime project at Studio Nue, he made a point of ensuring that he had a clear and cogent explanation for his show's setting containing giant robots built directly into its story. That being that Humanity had developed giant robots in anticipation of possible hostilities with a race of similarly sized giant aliens. Presumably the size was finessed a bit in development, but I'd expect they probably stuck to nice round numbers given that the Flight Suit was around 4m tall (twice human size) and the final result was 10m tall (five times human size). -

Sorry, have to make a correction to a common misconception here - May did not perform the shows theme for the series itself; instead he produced a cover version of it. The story goes that he and his son enjoyed watching the show, and May was inspired to do his own version. The Japanese original, "X-Bomber", has a very different Japanese language theme (and its a rare case where a Western substitution was probably the better option!). Regards "Dunbine", the actual original series itself can be argued to be "of its time" (i.e. its a bit of a long slog if you're not used to "classic" TV anime) but it also shows off Tominos genius for world building (and his penchant for bizarre character names) and the interior workings of the "Dunbine" mecha were rather ahead of their time - I'm looking at you, Hideki Anno... ๐ -
You guys seemed to have missed my other hint, "Earthbound," as in bound to the earth... ๐ It doesn't fly, it doesn't transform, it doesn't move at all. It does, however, consist of hundreds of laser-cut acrylic panels...

And both the Daedelus and the Prometheus would 10+ meters, so I'm pretty sure they're both out as well.

Who you calling crazy!? lol yeah Iโm a little crazy, guilty as charged. You have a valid point. That would be huge!!!!

Wait, the hint says 'it's a 1:48 model' At that scale an SDF-1 model would be 25 Meters long! Somehow I don't thing anyone on these boards is THAT crazy.
