You know... a ALIEN(S) themed amusement park ride would be awesome. Disney Hollywood has part of ALIEN in their The Great Hollywood Ride but it was short for that part of the ride.

Adults might enjoy that, but I suspect Disney might find an attraction all but guaranteed to make children cry a little off-brand for their family-friendly amusement parks.

Hell, I remember the Alien part of the Great Hollywood ride scared the beejezus out of me as a kid of ~6.🤣

From what I had heard from a contact at Disney, Disney after acquiring FOX did have ideas of a ride or some attraction that was going to be ALIEN themed. But after a long drawn out census and ideas they deemed it was something that would been to terrifying and difficult to pull off. I'm not sure how involved they were wanting to get....there was that non licensed ALIEN WAR attraction in the UK so long ago....could just pull off something like that and would probably been amazing.

An ALIENS themed ride could be awesome af but agree it wouldn't be child friendly. Oh well.

Are all episodes going to be available, or will it be a weekly thing?

Weekly I suppose.

It does look well made for a streaming series. Hopefully it doesn't go full nostalgia retard like Romulus did.

I figured

I don’t know about full nostalgia since it seems like a somewhat synthetic team, but I’m sure they’re gonna have quite a bit here and there. Maybe more like a good portion of nostalgia rather than full nostalgia, but I guess we’ll find out

while watching the trailer again I this time paused some of the end segments. Looks like somehow our lil synthetic heroine is gonna hook a xenomorph right on its secondary mouth and properly just rip the dang thing right out maybe even killing it or getting a big acid splash, guess wait and see.

There's at least some differences from what previous movies have tried like introducing other animals and species....it would be really. neat if they do the ol' kenner toy bit and we see the Xenomorph equivalent of those creatures.

Birds would be particularly dangerous on earth. The ground creatures can splash acid when killed, but it would just soak up into the ground as long as it doesn’t get on you, but a flying bird getting killed hast the potential for deadly acid showers if you only wound it

Spoiler alert.

Spoiler

So, apparently the first 2 episodes reveal all 5 of the creatures onboard the ship, but no predator as speculated online... which is odd considering the sound hints of it in the first trailers. Maybe a connection will be revealed in later episodes.

Not to mention it's sort of Hulu's last hurrah.

I'm not surprised, and in fact I had a pretty good feeling we weren't gonna get anything Predator related at all. Xenomorph do chitter just like the Predator species, so the sound in the trailer could been a Xenomorph right next to the character, who knows.

I was hoping it would be at least two episodes weekly

At least they're not doing Netflix's gimmick of releasing half a season, then the other half some months matter.

Hulu doesn't cares much of a sending off.  It's got it's money and it's already absorbed by Disney minus the rebranding launch.

There seems to the usual online demand for the eventual new cross over. Perhaps the success of this series and Badlands will lead to it.

I only saw the first episode cause I got my days mixed up. It wasn't bad,

Spoiler

I'm rather confused cause we see this crew and we see these flashes of them being killed or tortured or whatever in the beginning until we get to the bit with the guy in mothers room. So now I'm wondering, did the Xenomorph kill most of them, or did he have a hand in it as well? I'm guessing this will get touched on as the series progresses as to what happened....but right now it's like "Wait how did we go from Step A and we're immediately at Step J?"
This is also an interesting prospect cause we're dealing with what seems to be about machines now, we're introduced to 3 different types, humans who have had enhancements who are labeled Cyborgs, machines made from scratch who we all know are Synths and now humans who transfer their minds into Synth bodies which is new being called Hybrids. So I guess that means we can pretty much kiss Bladerunner tie in goodbye maybe?

I

I'll watch episode 2 when I get home tomorrow if I'm not stuck trying to get the paperwork to my new car done.

I also watched both eps and enjoyed them.

Spoiler

They're definitely going more for the look and feel of the original film, although, unlike the original film, you see a lot of the xenomorph. They really foot stomp the lethality of the thing, but it would almost have to move like the Flash to rack up the body counts as quickly as they occur. I do like how they portray it as having the intelligence to often hide in plain sight and to choose its moments to attack. The Maginot's security officer, a cyborg, is cut from similar cloth as the original's Ash- all about the specimens, crew be damned. Interestingly enough, he seems to be possessed of a working knowledge of the Alien- how to subdue it when all others just get slaughtered trying. The protagonists, a bunch of kids, most of whom are dying from some malady or another, are granted a second chance by a super genius young guy to take part in a secret transference of their "selves" into synthetic bodies, thus essentially making them immortal as well as superhumanly strong, fast and nigh indestructible. The first to undergo the procedure is Marcy who becomes Wendy after her transference, and she seems possessed of acute sensitivities beyond her fellow hybrids. I'm wondering if her fellow hybrids are going develop their own special abilities along the way. As for the specimens, we're treated to at least four of them, including the Alien itself, and they're all suitably unpleasant. Since the ship carrying this gaggle of nasties landed on the super genius' small island nation, one can infer that's how knowledge of the Alien was kept under wraps from future Weyland-Yutani expeditions. So far, it's a pretty good setup.

Like @Hikuro, I have to wonder at the purpose of showing future flashes without any context- the story's chugging along and suddenly-flashes- and then back to story. It's just a bit jarring, and without any causal effects, it seems more of an odd interruption than any meaningful furtherance of the narrative. Unless- I just had a thought- they're the product of the cyborg security officer's mind. That might explain some things.

Anyway, there's enough going on to maintain interest and anticipation for the next episode. I hope it captures a wide audience.

I utterly dislike stories that flash back and fourth in time. Disconnects viewers from where they are with the actual build of present events. Writers think this type of mystery box gimmick might keep viewers further engaged with questions (as if they're not confident of their own writing so have to over analyze "mystery"), but I wholeheartedly just want to see a story unfold as I'm there.

Okay now with that first look teaser as the story goes on, it looks really really interesting, and I knew the question of AI versus human consciousness was gonna come into question the moment episode 1 started.

Spoiler

Episode 2 was a lot more intense. I loved how the Xenomorph was just stalking everyone starting in the middle of the first episode then just blending in the start of episode 2. And the party group just being absolute dinguses made me immediately think, "Yeah they're gonna die, here's a good distraction to RUN!" But man, this Xeno is far more brutal and merciless than what we've seen in previous movies. Like we usually see a hole punch, or impaling of some variety, maybe even people just being nabbed into a vent or offscreen death. But now we're seeing the absolute gore and destruction ONE Xenomorph can do on its own. That gives a whole new fear for me and making me think back as a kid how these creatures scared the hell out of me.
As for characters, I'm really hating this Prodigy guy a ton.....he's like an adolescent Peter Weyland in a way. Thinks highly of himself and not of others and I get the feeling he does this cause he's bored.
The children.......what's his name? Slightly I think it is, I just wanna smack the lil snot nose brat.

Spoiler

Prodigy's founder Boy Kavalier (yeah, that's actually the character's name)- while I can't think of any other examples off the top of my head, it seems to me this isn't the first time we've seen a young genius with power and money exploit others for their own interests or amusement sans scruples. Regarding the kids, as if being sick or dying isn't enough stress on a child, transferring them into super-powered, nigh indestructible adult bodies with questionable capabilities to match an actual organic body's brain chemistry to regulate emotions seems less altruistic and bordering more on cruelty. There's no way to know how or even if they'll adapt, and quite honestly, I would expect them all to start with a flat affect given that the computer brains essentially need to learn how to interpret the hosts' feelings, or a facsimile thereof. I think they jumped the gun a little on their adaptations, but I get that time is of the essence, shooting schedules, budgets, etc. However, I would think at least a year, six months at the least, would be necessary for the computers and the technicians to meld what the hosts are feeling with their computer brains' responses in kind. Perhaps I'm reading a bit too much into it, but sci-fi often glances over the sticky realities of technology to focus on the cooler aspects.

The situation, a research ship that's crashed into buildings- not a place I'd want to send kids, even kids who've become super powered synthetics. Probably not the best for their psychiatric health. Less so when the ship is carrying a number of alien lifeforms that are quite unpleasant, especially everyone's favorite Xenomorph. Wendy seems to fear very little, unlike the rest of the hybrids, despite their apparent abilities.

I thought Wendy's jump from the cliff was a bit much- being durable is one thing, but there's not much we can build that can withstand a fall from that kind of height without sustaining serious damage upon impact- at the very least she could have tucked and rolled out of it. Stunts like that erode credibility and over empower the characters making any situation in which they're in danger less impactful.

I was a little unpleasantly surprised when Wendy spilled the beans to her brother; I thought maintaining that secret and forging a friendship with him as a way of staying close would have added a bit of additional complexity to their relationship, as she's obviously obsessed with keeping an eye on him and craving that relationship, but maintaining that secret would also show maturity and perhaps some tension/inner struggle. After all, she owes her life to Prodigy, and keeping her real identity a secret seems to be what they want from Marcy and the other hybrids.

I like the overall premise and execution of the show despite my niggles. I think having this take place pre-Alien is interesting, but also presents a fine line for preserving continuity, a narrative responsibility I hope they observe with the greatest respect. That said, I'm curious to see where they take the story and characters.

So far, I’m enjoying the show quite a bit. Watched the first episode yesterday and just finished the second. Definitely a few cheesy moments, but so far they’re forgivable. And this is kind of an entire cast of weird and awkward characters. Even the side characters needing rescue are awkward. Possibly the quirkiest cast since Lexx.

Gotta give the soundtrack some credit for being mostly awkward and slow during the show, but then cranking it to 11 by the end.

Spoiler

Episode one Ended with Black Sabbath with Dio on vocals doing Mob Rules and then episode 2 ends with that awesome Tool heavy bass beat

Totally rockin hard at the end for sure. Kinda makes me excited for the next episodes

I'm not at all into metal, so the soundtrack was lost on me entirely; it was more background noise to me than anything else. Glad you enjoyed it, though. I suppose, for the genre and the events taking place, the music was apropos.

I didn't really pick up on that many of the characters being quirky, a few sure,  but in hindsight, yeah, I guess there are more than I realized.

Despite a few eyerolling moments, the show demonstrates promise; I hope they fulfill it satisfyingly without breaking established continuity and with a building story that beggars more seasons.
