SuperSenpai Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Was scanning Mandarake recently and noticed they had a Beagle Rey-type Ride Armor for about 35,000 yen. No Legioss though. However, I was rather suprised to see that they recently stocked some Toynami MPC valks. From what I recall, they were priced around 5000-6000 yen.
Alex Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Some Toynami Valks go for 3000 in Mandarake. I think MISB is around 5000 and 3000 for opened.
Alex Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I'm still kicking myself over passing up the proto-mospeada helmet for 30,000.
SuperSenpai Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Seeing the Toynami MPC valks on Mandarake's website sorta feels like when I heard about Taco Bell trying to open up restaurants in Mexico.
EXO Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Lol. I guess that's a different type of running for the border...
Tober Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Stick, you need to get out more. Yer too pale. Is that a Beagle proto or a recast?
Alex Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Is that a Beagle proto or a recast? Original with paint stripped. A friend of mine is going to repaint it with more anime accurate hair and eyes.
Tober Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Original with paint stripped. A friend of mine is going to repaint it with more anime accurate hair and eyes. Ah, cool! I thought with your interest in the 1:1 helmet maybe you scored that batch of proto heads. I pulled apart a helmet version head the other day... That was an interesting experience... If I can RP a Yellow Belmont head, is there any way to tampo or decal the details on? Or would they have to be painted?
Tober Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 "RP"? Oops, Rapid Prototyping - 3D printing like Shapeways etc.
Alex Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Oops, Rapid Prototyping - 3D printing like Shapeways etc. Ah Gotcha. Does Shapeways do transparent parts?
EXO Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 No. They have Frosted Detail but it's not transparent. There are other places that do transparent but premium prices. I rendered a 1/48 canopy once just to see the cost... it was about $100.
troyness Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Thought this was cool - a 1/5 Ride Armore resin kit. Just went for over 30,000 on YahooJapan auctions. Was tempted to bid but did not... Cyclone1_5_ResinKit1.jpg Cyclone1_5_ResinKit2.jpg 1/5!!! That's HUGE I never knew it existed. Thanks for the heads up DarrinG!!!.
Alex Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Pity that it looks like it's not variable. I'm half tempted to track one of these down and see if it can be built to BE transformable. As amazing as the Beagle is, I always dream of a 1/6 Ride Armor being produced by Hot Toys or some other company.
Tober Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 (edited) Ah Gotcha. Does Shapeways do transparent parts? No. So if the visor was 3D printed it would need to be recast in transparent resin. Recasting is sorta necessary anyway. EDIT: Dang, late again. Edited September 10, 2013 by Tober
Alex Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I wish I was more adept at designing 3D models. I could do a proper BlowSuperior like the one you're doing. Actually, I'd have a go ant doing a set of anime accurate 1/10 heads for all the main characters first. I'm aiming to make all the main cast in 1/10 scale right now. After Houquet, Mint.
Tober Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I modeled Yellow's head years ago, I'm not sure how well it will look on a Beagle tho. It would have to be simplified as all of the fine detail would be ignored by a 3D printer; anything less than 0.2mm.
Alex Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 (edited) I really hate both the Beagle and Toynami Stick/Scott head sculpts. The beagle barely looks like the anime while Toynami's looks...kinda stretched vertically. But closer to the anime than beagle's attempt. On a smaller note, anyone else disappointed that the Megahouse has the faux lights in the Ride Armor chest but that the beagle has painted lights. Always wanted to rectify that. A 1/6 ride armor is what I'm hoping the 35th anniversary will be about.ZCWorld would do a good job on a 1/6 action figure. As for the faux/painted lights, that was a discussion back in 2009. I think many members would have liked faux aswell.

On a smaller note, anyone else disappointed that the Megahouse has the faux lights in the Ride Armor chest but that the beagle has painted lights. Always wanted to rectify that. YEP - Agree. Always found that unacceptable, as with the shin lights as well. But also quirky - that Beagle went to such a high level of detail but did not see fit to do the faux plastic lights instead of just paint. Found this pic of someone who replaced the shin paint with 'lights' - if I had the means I would do this on both the shins and chest...
Alex Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 With having the Headlights left over from my Yellow custom i'm going to try modding them with LEDS ( non working). I'm definitely doing the shin mod. That is epic.
505thAirborne Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 (edited) I finally get to display my Stick Legioss again and this time with hands that don't crumble, excellent replacement hands! Edited September 11, 2013 by 505thAirborne
Alex Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Nice. Gotta get me some of dem hanz. You should try posing the Legioss with the intakes pointing down. Makes it look SO much more line art accurate.
varitechs Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 i received mines but not time to assemble them...
Alex Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Is it just mine or are the Aoshima hands MUCH better and less prone to crumbling that the Toynami?
Jasonc Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Those 3D printed hands don't look that great, IMO. Probably better than broken hands, but they just seem way too big for the stubby body.
Alex Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 (edited) Does anyone know of any previous Houquet customs out in the online ether? Having flown blind with Yellow I wouldn't mind seeing what other people have done for this custom, if anything. edit- Just saw Frogze's attempt at Houquet. Nice. I've also been thinking about retroactively making her smaller, though I suspect more to avoid havijng to but another beagle Edited September 11, 2013 by Alex
Hoptimus Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Houquet would be harder since there was never a 1/12 Variable of her model. Just the 1/15 Power Armor kit I believe.

Compared to the crumbled hands these are great, line art accurate not so much, but one less thing I have to worry about breaking.
RD Blade Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Finally got around to painting my saddlebags and missile launcher from Exo. Very glad I got them.

I tried to reconstruct them in 3d the best I could given 505th's samples which were pretty badly broken.
Alex Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 The hip armour now connects to the knees as it ought to. Also, new tread..uh, I mean threads for Stick.
