One of the few bits of good news to come out of the franchise in recent days.

Strange New Worlds is one of the two new shows they've made that's actually good.

Still not thrilled with the Gorn designs, but looks like the next season promises to be exciting.😁

Well, if nothing else we can definitely say that Strange New Worlds has not lost its sense of fun... which means it should remain VASTLY more watchable than almost anything else the franchise has done in the last decade besides Lower Decks.

Bring it on.

Well, that was certainly a fever dream...

Very excited for that.

Strange New Worlds might not be the most groundbreaking Star Trek series out there, but it really does a fantastic job of recapturing that lighthearted cameraderie, that feeling of high adventure, and the sense of wonder that was such an integral part of the original Star Trek and its successors in the 80's and 90's.  Even my parents, who are OG Trekkies, absolutely love Strange New Worlds.  They've been eagerly waiting for news of when the new season would drop ever since I first got them to watch the series.

Great cast and fun series.  Looking forward to season 3.

Same here! Not 100% with it, but I do enjoy the ride!

A shame... I know the goal was always to go for 5 seasons, but it's still disappointing to see this one end.  If any recent Star Trek series deserved seven seasons it was this one.

Saw a news piece the other day which said that Strange New Worlds aims to end the series with the transfer of command from Captain Pike to Captain Kirk, essentially making a direct segue into TOS.

I have to admit, I rather like the idea.

His accident aboard the Class J starship happened about a year after he handed command over to Kirk, so I don't think we'll see it.

I probably won’t ever see it, unless Paramount finally goes under and puts their shows somewhere like Netflix

Well I got my two episodes in.

First episode wasn't bad,

Spoiler

Though I was hoping Ortega was gonna die.....cause we really don't get stuff like that in Star Trek. Plus she got impaled and I guess just grated her 2 new fingers wtf?

Second episode, kind of dull

Spoiler

Think it's safe to say that was a Q episode don't you think?

We've already heard about it all the way back TOS's first season episode "The Menagerie", which recycled large chunks of the "The Cage" series pilot.

We've also actually seen the training accident happen in Star Trek: Discovery's second season episode "Through the Valley of Shadows", thanks to some timey-wimey crystals that show Pike his future when he touches them.  There was a reactor accident aboard a training ship full of cadets while he was aboard for an inspection tour, and he was near-fatally irradiated while trying to save as many cadets as he could in the ship's engine room.

You can watch the series on other services... even YouTube's digital library service has it.

Here's a clip from the episode of Star Trek: Discovery where the accident is shown.

Yes those were Q and I immediately recognized de Lancie's voice.

That means, in theory, The Squire episode won't happen later, once TOS starts (which is fine, there's been enough Time follies enough to Justify it). Ill wait patiently for that information on those ships appear on Ex Astris Scientia - Bernd Schneider's Star Trek Site

My wife (who is NOT a Trekkie in any form otherwise) would disagree that S3E2 was boring :D
