I do love the hmr as well, but I’m also more interested in kits than toys. The Glaug kit is pretty cheap for now from places like hlj or hobbysearch or any other Japanese hobby site. Some American sites might have it eventually, hasegawa macross stuff is kinda odd that some items show up and others are harder to find stateside

I think anything SDFM and DYRL is going to be harder to find locally due to licensing issues on those titles.

So the Glaug might be easier to find on japanese hobby sites.

WOW --- $70 EMS is the ONLY option shipping from HLJ???? for 2 model kits??? NOOOOOOOOPE!!!! 😂

Hopefully temporary. The other shipping services were suspended due to the tariff issues.

I feel ya. My private warehouse is scaring me right now.

Man, yeh, that stinks!  I REALLY want to try the 1/48 Low Vis VF-1A Un Air Force kit as my ONE and only 1/48 fighter model from SDF Macross,  but I can get the Rickaru VF-1J TV version off Amazon for $43 free Prime shipping  and just do a low vis paint scheme I guess....

That sucks. Unfortunately things are crazy right now. The price on the Glaug seems to be only mid thirties just for the kit, but a lot of sites unfortunately seem scared by shipping and have really boosted that part of the cost or eliminated certain methods that may end up higher during the shipping process.

basically rough times for collectors and model builders, with a lot of uncertainty on the way.

I’m even getting emails from big U.S. sites like BBTS that they may have to almost charge triple for everything they get since most of their products come from places with tariffs or extra high tariffs

I'm gonna wait it out and pile up in my private warehouse. I'm also thinking hlj needs to extend our private warehouse time..

They were already complaining about the overcrowding of the private warehouse, I’m just hoping this tariff stuff ends before I get any thing else dropped in. It’s probably gonna be something they’ll be forced to discuss fairly soon though either way.

I shipped my stuff immediately, before the cost of shipping REALLY starts going up. I'm pretty sure it was something like 14000 yen for 2 Glaugs and 2 MP Eva kits. Oof...

I don't know why I ended up Thinking the old Imai is somehow superior to the modern Iteration from Hasegawa. I do like the new added subtle details though.  In my opinion Imai had the size closer to 1/72

Imai's kit was 1:100 and Arii's kit was 1:72. typically Arii kits had better surface detail, but Imai had overall better proportions. Some of the Arii kits are awkward-looking. Their Glaug though was pretty good. I've never seen one in-person, but builds I've seen of it look nice.

I decided to get the VF-19 Isamu , in the hopes they produce more battroids . And i love the VF-19 ! I also very excited about Milia. Is she an official scale?

I do wish they had chosen a less 'girlie' stance.

Fair enough. I'm just tickled they did it. Hopefully Jenius will accompany soon.!

Same here, it will make a great display with their Queadluun Rau’s

Now that it features so prominently, I have to ask: Do those three accent lines on the nose of the VF serve any purpose? Or, would they serve a real-world purpose on a real-world aircraft? I know I've seen similar features before. I'm curious if they're strictly a consequence of design/engineering/construction, or if they're intentional like vortex generators and the like.

I like the illustration, i see they are using another artist now.

Sounds like a question for the mecha fun type thread . Lol. But perhaps a special "chaser" vf scanning or recording equipment design. I only say that because it doesn't appear to be a standard VF-11 feature.

I'm probably gonna break out and get one of these. I love VF-11's and the boosters are cool.

The artist is Naochika Morishita, who is rocking it lately. The recent YF-19 Fast Pack, Gluag, Queads, now this. He used to do some Macross Zero kits from Wave years ago if I recall

This is really great box art.

The most prominent aircraft I know of with similar features is the F-16, which is discussed here, with some up-close photos of what those stripes look like.

The TLDR is that they prevent static build-up that could interfere with the radar.

Whether they were done for any reason other than aesthetics by Kawamori is up for grabs, but given he has an aerospace degree, I would not be at all surprised if he was fully aware of their real life purpose.

I definitely learned something new though, I always figured they were structural stiffeners, or vortex generators.  The YF-19/VF-19 nosecones have something similar, but they tend to be drawn as a more aerodynamic shape, so stiffeners/generators seem more likely.

I’m no engineer, but might be something to do with keeping air flowing evenly. But I’m really just guessing. I’ll just call em speed lines for now
