505thAirborne Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Since it will be a good year until season 5 of THE BEAR, we stretched it out and finally finished season 4 last night. I loved everything about this season; the Wedding episode was top tier, and the acting & script did not disappoint IMO throughout the season. But of the all the scenes that brought a tear to my eye for sure, and I swear I even clapped, was when Carmy was in his old room and you could clearly see a copy of Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain on his nightstand... pure perfection. M'Kyuun Posted September 14 Posted September 14 (edited) My wife and I have been binging Orphan Black on Netflix this week and we finished it this evening. We enjoyed it immensely. Huge kudos to Tatania Maslany for pulling off one of the best multiple character portrayals I've ever seen, not to mention all the folks who made her concurrent appearances in scenes look seamless. Just a damn good show overall. Edited September 14 by M'Kyuun Quote

Watched the first S4 episode last night and the end sequence with Tangerine Dream's energetic track from Michael Mann's "The Thief" already blew my mind. Quote
Thom Posted September 18 Posted September 18 The Woman in the Wall, Watched this on my weekend. Good murder mystery starring Ruth Wilson as a survivor of one of the Magdalene laundries is Ireland. Murder, sleuthing and sleepwalking ensue. Real good performances by just about the entire cast. My one wish is that there had been a supernatural element to it. Would have loved to have had a vengeful spirit lurking in the shadows. Quote
TangledThorns Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Finished HUNTING WIVES starring Brittany Snow on Netflix last night. Good guilty pleasure series and looking forward to the second season. Quote
electric indigo Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Watched "The Brutalist" last night and it went straight to the top of my Epic Twist movie list 😳 Quote

electric indigo Posted October 2 Posted October 2 The production design of Frankenstein is awesome in the still photos I saw and the cast is great, but the trailer looks terribly flat from the digital cinematography IMO. Quote
Big s Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Finally got around to Black Rabbit on Netflix. It’s one of those out of order stories. It stars Jude Law and Jason Bateman as brothers where Law’s character seems at first to be the more on the straight and narrow while Bateman is nothing but trouble…..big trouble. Just about every character is in over their heads with ambition or relationship issues and it makes for a bit of a high stress show, definitely entertaining and luckily just a limited series, so everything gets tied up in the end. Big s Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Watched the first episode of Ha Ha You Clowns on Max or HBO Max or whatever it’s called these days. It’s a new adult swim show that I knew nothing about. I had a few minutes to spare and the first episode is only 12 minutes, so I figured that if I hated it that I wouldn’t have lost much time. Honestly, since I went in with no information about the show, it was a complete surprise. There’s definitely some adult humor, but I guess I kinda figured it would be more of the adult cartoon style done to death kinda shows. The characters are fairly dimwitted, but the difference here is that the characters aren’t naturally aggressive and the show really doesn’t deal with hateful or even spiteful humor the way most modern adult cartoons do things. If not for a few adult jokes, I’d actually say this is the most wholesome tv show I’ve seen this century. It’s definitely not the smartest show and doesn’t have a lot of big gags or anything, and nobody is antagonistic, but I really liked this for being such a different type of show. Basically it’s a household about Three meat heads and their father after the mother had passed away and just trying to work together to get through a rough emotional situation, but everyone has eachother’s back. Anyway, if you’re looking for something different than the usual then this might be a good way to spend 12 minutes of free time Quote
Tking22 Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 Yeah I really liked the first Troll so I'm in, looks like they went with one good, one bad, let them fight.... Quote

Big s Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Just finished Wayward on Netflix. Kinda a mix of a cult horror thing and a Y.A. Type story mixed into one. It has all the awkwardness of both genres, but lacks the excitement making for a kinda dull weird watch that gets increasingly frustrating. You get left waiting for these people to finally make their moves and when things actually start to happen, the show ends at a cliffhanger. It’s a limited series, so there’s no expectation of more episodes and seems after doing some research, that it has not been given a second season. Basically, if you want to watch a boring show that will just make you feel awkward without a pay off and no ending, then this is probably a great show, but for everyone else, I’d recommend staying away and save yourself a few hours to spend doing household chores for a more enjoyable day Quote
505thAirborne Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Watched episode 1 of Welcome to Derry... so far, it's ok. Some shocking & creepy scenes but the creature that may or may not be Pennywise was a mood killer, felt out of place and not what I was hoping for. That said, I'm ready for episode 2. Quote
TangledThorns Posted October 27 Posted October 27 This is a huge move and will probably nuke Paramount+. The many Taylor Sheridan series is the only reason why I keep my subscription with P+. Tking22 Posted October 27 Author Posted October 27 Caught Derry last night, great first episode, definitely some easter eggs for King's other works, particularly The Shining, there's a character straight from that book. Really solid first episode, well paced, scary, hell of an ending. 13 hours ago, 505thAirborne said: Watched episode 1 of Welcome to Derry... so far, it's ok. It's him, I just don't think he's taken the clown form yet, or he doesn't favor it yet, he's a shape shifter and took many forms before he was Pennywise the Clown. he also doesn't always appear as Pennywise since he's a shape-shifter. Gotta say, didn't expect that ending... Spoiler Pretty damn brutal, two of the main, or so we thought, kids die, and one kid's younger sister, three kids in one theater, damn, Pennywise is stacking numbers so far. I'm guessing we'll get more IT origin in this then the films, which is great, seeing IT land millions of years ago, the formation of Derry and IT's first awakening, who Pennywise was as a man and actual performing clown before IT took his form. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the season, great start so far, and we won't have to wait until Sunday for another episode, they're doing episode two early on Halloween. Quote

I kinda thought it was tied more into the movie from the previews, but the movies had him as a clown much further back. I guess the show is more of a based on the story and based on the books wherever it decides however it decides, but more loosely. and this is definitely as show for people that hate children cause Spoiler These kids go through the blender Quote
