Oh wow, you must've procured those designs elsewhere. I think I saw those on Thingiverse. All I did was send you the cockpit interior STL files. I can send you the rest if you'd like. As for myself, I think I'll finally get started laying down decals on my Kakizaki green VF-1A from DYRL by Hasegawa. It has a gloss coat now and is ready to go. I've been slowly working on this for a couple of years now, always getting distracted. I can post pictures of it tonight. It would otherwise be a slow evening after work and the perfect opportunity for hobby time tonight, but today is the commemoration of the female spousal unit's manufacture date. She turned 49 today. Which is fine, but I turn 50 on Sunday. Crap. Quote

Bunch of bicentennial babies right here. ♥️ Please post your VF-1A if you find the time. Would love to see it. Stayed up late lastnight doing the test fit on the Our Treasure 1/144 Gatexion Mark3 Dharmas. This little model has a ton of detail and is going to take a lot of effort to correct seams and paint. It’s really back heavy too. I am going to mess around with the balance when final construction happens. Would like to avoid a stand if possible. I do have to say I’m loving the wild design. There’s a lot going on here. Quote

IT SUCKS! 😂 @tekering --- Yeh....I'm eventually gonna HAVE to have one of each of those Buck Rogers Designs in 1:48 or 1/32 Scale!!! I always ADORED the single and double seater designs! Was the 3rd one ever in the show???? I can't recall... Edited March 4 by derex3592 Quote

I see it as a prime opportunity to talk about models, food, or how to make repairs in your home or car if ya have one. What have you. 😂 Quote

Papa Rat Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Built up a tiny PKA with my kiddo. I really like these 1/35 Artpla MaK kits. They usually come two or three per box so you can give one to a friend or build them up with optional gear/parts that they come with. Great value and smart fool proof construction that has creative peg shapes so there is no guess work. Mak for dummies. Hahaha Quote
SteveTheFish Posted March 6 Posted March 6 This is my first Hasegawa Valkyrie. I'm building it as Kakizaki's VF-1A. I chose to paint the green stripes, especially after the decals went bad and the replacements I got didn't come with green since Hasegawa no longer makes the VF-1A kit which was their very first kit they released. The decals are still in the process of relaxing. I sprayed the paint job through oven filter sheets to give it a dirty look. I also did the surgery to put the engine nacelles in a straight position. Bolt Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Looking good @SteveTheFish Did someone say Traeger, tri tip..? Great combo! It's a once a week Combo ritual for me (also w ling cod or striped bass!) Quote

SteveTheFish Posted March 7 Posted March 7 6 hours ago, Urashiman said: Is it the same VF-1A as from this video 2 years ago? Yes, it's the same kit. I sort of lost track of this build last year and I hadn't posted an update on it for a while. I was documenting the build here and there, and I'll probably have another video done soon. Quote
Chas Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Speaking of old builds, I started this kit-bash/scratch build I think 10 years ago? Some of you may remember my older posts on this. Well I picked it up again, inspired by a lucky win (at a good price) of a 1/500 S. B. Yamato on yahoo Japan auctions. It started life as a 1:700 Nimitz class aircraft carrier - Abrahan Lincoln I think?), but now it's a 1:500 Space battleship Yamato carrier. Overall it measures 61cm (24 inches) which puts it at a comfortable 305M/1000ft. I spent most of my time this weekend reacquainting myself with what I had done, and trying to remember what I wanted to do. You see I'm pretty much just making this up as I go along. It is loosely based on some ref. Images though. After I figured things out a bit I decided to get to work on adding some greeblies to the rear section above the engines. Now that that's done I think I'll move on to adding some plating to the main hull below the flight deck to give some detailing and cleaned things up a bit. The superstructure and flight deck area will likely be last, as I have too many ideas that I need to pare down. None of that stuff on top is glued down yet - just working out placement and such. Anyway: Here are the greeblie bits I worked out today: And some you have some idea where on the ship those bits are: Quote
derex3592 Posted March 9 Posted March 9 @ChasWHOOOAA!!! DUDE that's AWESOME!!! I have my 1/500 Yamato in my "To be finished soon" pile! Love the designs from that show! Quote
Thom Posted Monday at 03:28 PM Posted Monday at 03:28 PM @Chas I remember this one! Glad to see this monster is back on the table! Quote
Chas Posted Monday at 07:56 PM Posted Monday at 07:56 PM Thanks Thom. I'm hoping I can finally bring it to a satisfying conclusion with this round of working on it. 🤞 Quote

Yep, these are specifically for the Moebius kits. But they're going this one instead. The blue pieces of tape is where I'm pretty sure I'll be putting the cannons. Quote

wm cheng Posted Tuesday at 07:55 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:55 PM I loved those tiny turrets (didn't know you could use those on the OG Battlestar as well) - here's them on my NuBattlestar; Quote

Is "Admiralty Model Works" another one of those "We only sell on Facebook" entities? I did a search on Google and DuckDuckGo but only saw links to Scalemates.com. Quote
505thAirborne Posted Wednesday at 05:42 AM Posted Wednesday at 05:42 AM I'll post some better pics in the morning, just a quick shot with the turrets mounted on. @SteveTheFish I'm honestly not sure where these originated from, besides being long out of production, MW member @Thom hooked me up with these. Rarely, but they do pop up on eBay from time to time, like 4 months ago someone had a listing, but I missed out. Curious about your Kakizaki VF-1A, any reason you're using 013 instead of 012 for his Valk? Quote
Thom Posted Wednesday at 02:13 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:13 PM @505thAirborne I bought those many many moons ago, in the hay-day of battlestar modelling. Glad to see them in use now, as they look much better on your model than still in their wrappings. Quote
derex3592 Posted Wednesday at 06:08 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:08 PM I had the PE ones back in the day and they were less than impressive, still better than the kit parts mind you. Quote

Papa Rat Posted Thursday at 12:55 AM Posted Thursday at 12:55 AM Got some better pics of an old kit I build this past year. I’m so looking forward to the new version coming out this year. Quote
Papa Rat Posted Thursday at 07:48 PM Posted Thursday at 07:48 PM Millions of seam lines later I’m about to prime this 🦖 today. I’m guessing I’ll have to do additional surface prep once the primer reveals errors in my hasty work. I had lots of ambitious plans for this old fella but I am feeling lazy so this will be a straight build without modding anything. Quote
Papa Rat Posted Thursday at 09:02 PM Posted Thursday at 09:02 PM I am in the process of cleaning up my stash, cataloging my kit manuals, decals and extra parts hands etc… and recycling all these empty boxes. Anyway I discovered I had a resin kit in my stash all this time and never opened it and completely overlooked it. I don’t even remember when I bought it. Lol. I’m old and will use that as my excuse. Anyway I pinned it up quick this morning. It’s very very basic with only a few pieces but needs lots of clean up. It’s the Hasegawa Macross DYRL Miria non scale figure. This will be my first figure build and hope to work on it this year if possible. It will look nice next to her Q-Rau Quote
