electric indigo Posted Saturday at 02:42 PM Posted Saturday at 02:42 PM I've been busy with the PLAMAX Cruise Chaser Blassty recently, and it's easily my favorite kit of the year. The engineering is great, and the design has been refined to perfection in countless iterations since it's inception in 1986. The kit has a pretty good size and brings a unique design language. Masahisa Suzuki's powerful lines have been skillfully captured in 3D. There's a kind of Miami Vice powerboat aesthetics going on, and I tried to enhance that with my coloring choices. Scale is about 1/144, and I was able to fit some figured in the cockpit. The impulse drive is a work of art in itself. The asymmetrical layout goes hard. Full speed ahead! And the completed ship: The whole thing can be transformed into a snazzy robot, but I was always more attracted to the Cruiser Form. Final frame inspired by the Manga: Quote

Good modeling time with the kid! @Papa RatHere you go my friend...My favorite capital ship from Macross/Robotech. The only problem is displaying it....doesn't fit in many cases 🤔 🤣 That’s amazing 🤩 and you did an outstanding job with it! I imagine it’s a resin model? I have yet to cut my teeth and anything outside of plastic kits. I do have that Hasegawa Miria figure on the way so I’ll be diving in soon. 😊 Oh and I see you are already getting more use out of that handy new stand. Do you have a link for it? I think one of those would find a good home on my bench too. Quote
Papa Rat Posted Saturday at 03:48 PM Posted Saturday at 03:48 PM @electric indigo That is outstanding! What a beautiful build. ♥️ I might have to hunt down this kit. Quote
derex3592 Posted Saturday at 09:06 PM Posted Saturday at 09:06 PM (edited) @Papa Rat - Here's the link to Amazon for the stand Amazon.com: Stand for Model Airplanes for Display Making and Painting,Model Building Berth jig,Tray for Part of 1/72, 1/48(Grey+Swivel Base) : Arts, Crafts & Sewing Yes, it was a resin kit, my 2nd or 3rd, as I recall. I started out really small with a one-piece kit from Captain America, the tiny little Zentradi scout ship. From there I found about a 12 inch Super Star Destroyer which was only I think 2 parts along with the Zent flagship from a guy in Australia named Wayne Pugh who had some resin kits for sale on his website called Scale Solutions. It's still up but he no longer offers resin kits unfortunately! Highly recommend you do some watching of YouTube tutorials and or seek advice from the master himself @tekering from here before taking on high dollar larger resin kits! I think somewhere buried in the threads here I once typed up a basics "How To" guide for resin kits. Should still be in the forums somewhere, maybe I can dig it up. EDIT: - Found It! SteveTheFish Posted yesterday at 05:44 AM Posted yesterday at 05:44 AM My hypothetical Millia Armored Valk kit is finally complete. This is the old legacy Imai kit in 1:100 scale, modified with aftermarket hands from Kotobukiya and polycap joints from Wave. derex3592 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Academy F-15 E Strike Eagle 🦅 completed. Great kit. No fit issues. Highly recommended. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it came out. First time I tried a light color wash on a dark plane to pop out all the great surface details. I overdid the blend coat a bit right at the end and I shouldn't have put the bomb ordinance on until after the blend coat. I also should have masked off my engines so the flat coat didn't matte them down quite so much, but I am particularly proud of how good the canopy sealing and masking turned out! No overspray got inside and lines are tight! At this point it's time to STOP new kit construction and focus on kits that were started but never completed over the last few years due to life happening. The next project will be one familiar to long time readers here... It's time to finally finish off.. John Moscato's 1:72 Cat's Eye 🐈 👁️! This kit has lanquished faaaaar to long in the closet after several bad painting mishaps years ago. Time to get back to a little actual Macross modeling! 😁 Stay tuned! Quote
Papa Rat Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago (edited) @derex3592 Wow, that came out so nice. I really like the light panel lines. I have been curious about when to go light and this is a great example and works. What is that other aircraft in the photos? Also can’t wait to see that Moscato! edit* just looked up cats eye lol it’s the aircraft you posted hahahaha “face palm” @SteveTheFish Looks great! Edited 12 hours ago by Papa Rat Quote
Thom Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Nice articulation there @nightmareB4macross. Always liked Milia's red scheme fighters, and that is looking great @SteveTheFish. And cool looking F-15 @derex3592. And I also have one of those Cat's Eyes, also languishing incomplete after a canopy mishap. Will be nice to see yours done. Quote

Gabe Q Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago @derex3592 I can't wait to see what you do with the Cat's Eye kit! Years ago, there was a member on this board that sold me a set of 1/72 scale female macross pilots. It included a Misa pilot that would be perfect for that kit. Quote
SteveTheFish Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Finally took photos of my completed mini Nadia figure. This is said to be 1:15 scale, and it comes in all one piece, making painting a bit difficult. What made it more difficult is when some paint lifted off. I've since become more aggressive with cleaning resin parts. As always, pictures are in the photoset for this build on my Tumblr feed: https://stevethefishdotnet.tumblr.com/post/789663998048108544/kaiyodo-secret-of-blue-water-115-nadia-mini-resin Quote

Papa Rat Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The IMAI 1/720 scale Theater-Scout Quel-Quallie arrived. I’ll be starting this very soon and wanted to document more of this build since besides a completed model I haven’t seen much of this online and may be of interest for people. Here a few shots of the box and its contents. Excited to dive into it. Quote
