The Macross Quarter. DX Chogokin

Recommended Posts

I am starting to wonder if this Macross Quarter has been dropped.

Isnt it a bit suspicious that we have not seen any drawings, prorotypes, CAD, 3D printer mock ups or anything?

Throw us a freakin bone already!

Latest Figure Oh article says that they will reveal (probably a prototype) on February 22nd at Akihabara

All in due time Miriya, we will soon see some pictures or prototypes. Like any good show man Bandai is just building up the suspense.... or trying to drive us crazy. either way, we'll all see it soon!! B))

Just to note - it was never said that it'll be exactly 20cm. The wording was very vague in the poster ad which only stated it'll be "big" and that the height will be "more than 20cm". And that the reasons for this size will be forth coming.

Isn't Battle Frontier much bigger than the Quarter? Maybe they will be to scale and they didn't want Battle Frontier to become way to big to be reasonably priced. Or, dare I say we will see some sort of huge Macross Frontier toy as well.

No kidding, I'm going nuts over here waiting for this. Definitely a must buy for me.

BTW, the WAVE SDF-1 is freaking awesome regardless of the size. I would caution those who are on the fence not to wait too long because I seriously doubt it will ever go on sale on HLJ. At some point it will be discontinued and sold out.

The Quarter is, obviously, about 1/4 the size of the Battle Frontier-- so if the Quarter is even 25 cm, the Battle Frontier will be 1m tall!! Not very likely I think-- I think the DX Battle frontier will end up being 1.5 to two times the Quarter at most.

A 50 cm large battle galaxy is far too tall. Especially as the transformation is too simple and there are mostly large unbroken stealthy surfaces that don't merit such a large model. Making the Model big just for the sake of being big will alienate many. Especially japan where available space for the average anime fan probably doesn't extend much further than his bedroom.

20-25cm for the Quarter and maybe 30cm max for the Galaxy (If they ever do one, which I doubt. At most in Model or non-scale toy form. )

I fly my Yammies around a lot... I just feel lucky to have an anime nut for a girlfriend. She at least understands it, though probably doesn't empathize...

You're a lucky man. I wish there were girls like that in my city. But it's like looking for a drop in the ocean.

Back on topic... sort of..., i expect my SDF-1 to arrive in the next couple of days. It will keep me occupied until the Quarter comes out.

It all starts with having high school friends ;)

OT: If this isn't at least as tall as a 1/48, I'm not gonna buy it. We're being thrown a bone at the end of the month, right?

Old school POPY Jumbo Machinders were 24" tall, about 60 cm. More recent Jumbos made by Bandai include a couple for Power Rangers as well as the newest 'transformable' Zeta Gundam at 56.5 cm tall. Check it out:

A theoretical 60 cm Battle Frontier too big? You'll be wishing they were more affordable to ship!

Hey All, not trying to be "that guy" but can we try to keep this thread to what its about which is the Macross Quarter and its counter part the Battle Frontier, some day being released by Bandai.

We've been getting into topics about who plays with there toys, fly's them around, other Anime series and about 2 tons of speculation to its size and how we all wished the M-Quarter was this size and that....

We all know its going to be rather small, until otherwise noted by Bandai. And yes to those who'd love to point it out I know I'm not a moderator for this site, but still lets stay on target here please. B))

a 1/35 battle frontier is going to be just under 140 feet. I like large scale, but not that large.

I think everything should be around 14 inches. 14 inches is a good size for a high end collectors toy, big enough to have lots of detail while still being sturdy, but small enough that you can still play with them a little.

so a 1/4000 scale battle Frontier, a 1/1200 Macross quarter, and 1/48 for VF's

Not to mention big enough to standout in a collection. For instance: how a 1/6 figure will standout in size and detail, among a sea of 1/8-sized figures.

yeah, although when you put it that way, it is cool when you've got a 1/4 scale figure to loom over you're little 1/8-scale figs. I guess it would be cool to have one 24 inch (or maybe 25 inch ;) ) Macross toy, just to dwarf everything else you own.

Lets stay on topic, people... But before we do...

After i got my 1/5000 SDF-1 i have to say that if the Quarter or Frontier are the same size but have the same level of detail, i won't mind. The SDF-1 is one awesome beast and really, REALLY nice.

Don't get me wrong, i would love to have bigger ships but the SDF-1 is truly an excellent example that size isn't an issue.

I for one would love that Bandai would do a kit like the VF-25's for the Quarter, Frontier and Galaxy. And if they could have prepainted parts like their "STAR TREK" snap fit modelS, that would be awesome.

Of course that the scales will have to be different, They can't make a 20 cm long Quarter and 80 cm Frontier and Galaxy (although it would be awesome if they did) but a 20 cm Quarter and 35 to 40 cm Frontier and Galaxy would be a nice compromise. (How much bigger are these 3 in relation to the SDF-1 in the anime, anyway?)

I hope they throw us a bone and get a release date out, soon.

And what about Brera's VF-27 and the Red Vajra models? Any word on that?

OK, NOW WE CAN GET BACK ON TOPIC.

I already tried the theory of keeping this topic on track, see my post up top, didn't work all that well. But as long as were not talking about Bugs bunny or my cousin made out with my Valkyrie or something, were doin good!!

I have the 1/5000 scale SDF-1, I love it, but would rather have a 1/3000 scale, bigger is better with that one!!

As for matching scales, accuracy like theres no tomorrow. A great theory. But in some cases, why not just do all the Macross class ships, one size, BIG and loaded with details. No sense having having some 7 inch wonder of toy so you can have its counter part at 15 inches tall at 4x the price. But I guess that just an old school way of thinking.....I don't know.

But your idea of Model kits is a good one, that might be on the drawing board with Bandai as well since their model team scored big time with the VF-25 kits. B))

As i said, i would love if the SDF-1 was bigger but i was actually very pleased when i got it, so i don't complain.

I agree they shoulddo all the Macross class ships but not only them, the escort ships would also be nice. But as an idea, if they don't want to do the actual models of those, put smaller in-scale figures in the Macross Class kits as an extra.
