Gubaba
When I think back, the original VF-1 was supposed to be called Breast Fighter. So naming it VF-27 Nanase just makes sense to me. Yes...it works on so many levels that my head may just explode...FROM DELIGHT!

VFTF1
Breast Fighter? As in Beast Fighter? Ah...dag - only now did I realize that the BreastMasters from Victory could very well have been the "Best Masters" ... Anyways - looked at the pics provided by Mr. March. That chick is hot, that guy looks confused - although he has a facial expression that belongs in an anime for sure As to the fighter itself - strong Nora SV-51 vibe - and not only because of the color... in fact - it is almost something along the same lines of the VF-19 viz the YF-19... It's like a streamlined version of the SV-51 (taking the SV-51 as a kind of mat prototype)... Name wise - I actually also agree with Slayer- keep the Shao Pai Lon references going VFTF1

guber143
You know, we're talking about a name for the VF-27, but has there ever been a name for the SV-51 (since the 27 seems based on it) ?

Yeah, something about the canards and the wing design screams SV-51 variant to me(but so does the VF-25's thrust nozzles), but I'm sure it wont be called that or be related. I wonder if they're trying to integrate a Macross Plus feel where the SMS has been given the VF-25 and another division has been given the VF-27 and they're doing field testing to see who to award the contract to. Kronnang Dunn
The VF-27 appears in episode 7. Just watched it. At the end of the episode 2 other more are seen escorting the leader (red). They seem to be green colored. The leader fighter has some strange symbols in it. I checked the Zentrady reference & those aren't Zentradi characters... Protoculture? Why would the Protoculture follow UN fighter naming conventions (VF-27)? Also, Brera carries a harmonica. There's a UN connection here, for sure, just don't know what yet. There's a UN connection here, for sure, just don't know what yet. Picking at straws? Hehehe... The only UN connection I see here is that Brera Sterne & the VF-27 could be related to the Megaroad 1 or the 117th Large Scale Research Fleet , heh. Btw... the VF-27 designation could very well come from NUNS/SMS officials as a way to identify an enemy fighter more advanced than theirs but with clear design similarities...
