Only YOU can stop Uwe Boll

Recommended Posts

# 127680! For the love of god people, start making some dummy yahoo accounts to vote and stop this man! German schize flicks have less crap in them than his films! I've seen more plot in pornos, and I've seen A LOT of porno ;)

I doubt he'll comply with his statement, even if a million signatures are achieved.

Kind of like how he said he'd fight any journalist that volunteered but then refused to fight Seanbaby who happens to be trained in martial arts and not a scrawny guy like Something Awful's Lowtax.

Although really, the guy makes movies that suck but they make money apparently and people see them apparently. Not sure what fault there is in that. As if the House of the Dead or Bloodrayne franchises really deserved a lot of respect, anyways.

I'm sure no one really believes Uwe Boll will quit making films just because of a million angry film fans. The petition is just affirmation for the critics. The fact that this silly petition has already tallied over a hundred thousand signatures in just days is quite telling how much the films suck. Nothing more. If Boll wants to manufacture a media-spin victory out of this by using the press for attention to his films, more power to him. It certainly fits his MO. From my perspective the joke is on him and the reality is far more damning :)

Default Re: Being Called a "F*!$ing Retard" by Uwe Boll - Yesterday, 01:38 PM

I find people who rant like that - calling crap about both me, and George Clooney - comes from someone screaming because he is not being heard. He is obviously a sad being.

When you ask "do I care"? Not in the slightest.

Uwe Boll was on G4's Attack of the Show, Kevin asked him if he'd stop making movies if the numbers on the petition are high. Uwe is quoted with a big fat "NO". He's also created his own Anti-petitio nwhere about 500+ people have signed it. So the number for him in comparison is dwarfed to this petition to take him out.

He pretty much considers himself a Fin genius and will continoue to make movies how he wants them.

from the wiki article on the demon:

Boll continues to find investors who wish to acquire the rights for future video-game-to-movie adaptations. His investors are mostly German. He acquires the rights for potential future adaptations, then does all the production himself, and completes the finished product.

Movies directed by Boll have performed modestly to poorly at the box office in the United States. House of the Dead (budget: $12 million) broke $5.73 million on opening weekend,[4] Alone in the Dark (budget: $20 million) made over $5.1 million,[5] and BloodRayne (budget: $25 million) topped $2.42 million.[6]

In the DVD commentary of Alone in the Dark, Boll explains how he funds his films:

"Maybe you know it but it's not so easy to finance movies in total. And the reason I am able to do these kind of movies is I have a tax shelter fund in Germany, and if you invest in a movie in Germany you get basically fifty percent back from the Government."

Boll is able to acquire funding thanks to German tax laws that reward investments in film. The law allows investors in German-owned films to write off 100% of their investment as a tax deduction; it also allows them to invest borrowed money and write off any fees associated with the loan. The investor is then only required to pay taxes on the profits made by the movie; if the movie loses money, the investor gets a tax writeoff.

While Boll has received a lot of negative publicity regarding this funding method,[7] he was actually one of the few directors to use the tax shelter as intended. His films were financed, produced, and directed by a German company, which was the initial intention behind the tax shelter: to provide incentive for investment in German entertainment properties. Regardless of the law's intention, most of these German film funds ended up funneling money to American studios to finance American blockbusters. The law merely required that the movie's copyright be owned by a German company; thus studios would "sell" a movie's rights to a German company, then immediately lease the movie back for a small fee, while the German owners would agree to very limited control. Essentially, the German company would own the movie on paper, but have no say over its production. Because of this, in January 2006, as had been expected for several months, the German legislature changed the country's tax laws to eliminate the tax shelter. It is not known if this will have any effect on Boll's funding as the new laws only seek to punish investors who are abusing the law for tax purposes; Boll's activities appear to be well within the legitimate usage of the tax shelter.

This guy's circular logic puts him up there with shoddy politicians of a state, if not national, level.

Boll "My movies aren't bad and you'd know that if you seen them"

then if people see them and comment on them

Boll "My movies made alot in the rental market so they clearly are not as bad as people are saying"

WHAT?! I'm just telling him that I'm downloading them all off the internet and critizing them then. Though who knows how he'll spin that.

you must be very far out of the loop and never watch video game movies. he's done a mass majority of he cult classics of games that are some of the most violent and bloody of all.

His latest work, postal, he describes as a movie that will kick indiana jones ass next month. bet postal wont even get a quarter of its budget back.

I'm gonna' wait in line, er, start a line in front of Target on Tuesday morning before they open, just so I can be sure to be one of the first to take home my very own copy of "In the name of the King." I will then call over as many people as I can and laugh with them for 3 hours straight...

I haven't seen any of his movies, so i'm now in the know i'll dodge him at call costs!

Ditto, I don't need to see his movies to know they suck. I almost rented Blood Rayne cause I had cupons for free movies for like a year....and I stopped mid way to check out and cringed for some reason and put it back lol. Even my sub consious says "BAD!"

Somehow I doubt it will reach 1 million or work but I know the perfect place for Uwe's talents, he could direct for sci-fi channel. Just think of it, he could make Frankenfish 2 THE RECKONING!

Yeah I guess Uwe might be a step up wouldn't he. Frankenfish is a made for Sci-Fi movie pretty much, it was about people trapped on a houseboat with some kinda FRANKENFISH attacking them in the bayou. Heres a poster for it frankenfish.jpg . I wouldn't recomend seeing it.
