wwwmwww
badboy00z started a thread here: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=24531 Which reminded me of this Lego König Monster and I didn't want to totally hijack his thread so I'm starting this one. There were several threads on this lego model here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=13591 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=13158 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=8294 But sadly most of the links to pictures are now broken. The only picture I could find which showed gerwalk mode was this one. By any chance did anyone here save the other half dozen or so pictures of this model when they were hosted on brickshelf? Thanks, Carl
wwwmwww
I did some more hunting with the way back machine and found these: I'm still missing the gerwalk picture from the front and that might be it but I thought there were also some mid transformation pics as well. Anyone... Anyone... Happy New Year!!! Carl
wwwmwww
I just found this link. http://mechahub.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=4711 It has several pictures I don't have that appear to have been taken at some sort of event. Any idea what event this might have been? Still looking for the gerwalk picture from the front on the black background. Carl
wwwmwww
Ok... one more pass with the way back machine and I was able to find these: The file I'm looking for is this one: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Glagla/VB-6/2.gerwalk.jpg Its should look like a larger version of the image in the lower left of the top image above but it looks like the way back machine saved all the images except this one. I wonder why. Here are the new images I found at mechahub.com: Enjoy, Carl

That would give me an excuse not to break out the 5000 pc Millenium Falcon I got for Xmas. I'm going to need my entire dining room for this one! Maximiria
And I thought nicjasno was impressive! Makes anything I've ever built look like crap! wwwmwww
find the instructions!!! Believe me I'd give a very pretty penny for those as well. This model was made by Gla Gla. I'm not sure if that's an individuals name or what but he apparently did post instructions for some of his models. That hunt actually lead me back to MacrossWorld. Here: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?show...mp;#entry361346 Where Jason Leinen (JELEINEN) posted the instruction to the Gla Gla armature. Which I assume are the same as those seen here: http://mechahub.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=4755 If anyone here knows how to contact Gla Gla please let me know. sivar
I'm pretty sure GlaGla never released instructions for this or most of his other creations. I think the only reason he provided instructions for his armature was because it was the frame for several of his works, and it is rather easy to build. If you still plan on trying to track this down, you might want to start with mechahub.com or try digging through http://news.lugnet.com/build/mecha/. I think the only reason he provided instructions for his armature was because it was the frame for several of his works, and it is rather easy to build. I think you are correct. But I'd love to contact GlaGla... maybe he could be talked into making instructions for this model. If the model still exists maybe he'd be willing to sell it. If so I'd take a shot at making instructions provided GlaGla didn't object. If nothing else maybe he'd be willing to share more pictures of this wonderful creation. Anyone know why he removed his Brickshelf account? If you still plan on trying to track this down, you might want to start with mechahub.com I've already emailed Marcus Clancy, their Gallery Administration guy, but so far haven't gotten a reply. I don't see a forum at that site. Do you know anyone in particular at that site that I should check with? or try digging through http://news.lugnet.com/build/mecha/. Well this post jumped out. http://news.lugnet.com/build/mecha/?n=14364 So I've now emailed Bryce. I'm now waiting on a confirmation e-mail and I'll try posting an inquary in this mecha section as well. I'm not 100% sure how to do that at the moment but maybe the confirmation e-mail will tell me how to make posts. I've also signed up over at outsidethebrick.com and I'll probably be posting an inquary in their forums soon. Thanks, Carl Edited January 3, 2008 by wwwmwww
Bryce
Okay I'll give a quick update: I created MechaHub.com to preserve Lego Mecha models which were being lost on the internet. Gla Gla being one of the best. I own the site and am currently the only person updating it at all. That said here's what I know. The Japanese in general use fake names when building Lego: Gla Gla is one of them. Nobody seems do know who he really is (or was). I've spoken with at leat 10 Japanese builders and the best I've gotten is "I saw him at a meeting once". When I emailed Gla Gla almost 2 years ago the (very) rough translation I got back was this: "How do you do Mr. Bryce Although mailing is splendid, since I am not familiar with English, the mind to read does not do English mail. If it is a long sentence, it is still more so. Although it feels sorry, from the next, I need your help in Japanese. I am not already GlaGla and will not have the mind in connection with the community of LEGO from now on, either. Since he plans to assert no right about the picture before raised to BrickShelf, although you may have you use, present I cannot think that there is worth of that. If very well, still use freely. Then, I am sorry." I'm sorry guys but that's the best I can do. It looks like you have most of the pictures in this thread.
Metal_Massacre_79
Given the amount of pictures here, it might be easier to reverse-design this bad boy. There are a lot of good shots that show exactly what pieces were used for the shell, and I'm sure that someone could fake the rest of it. For those who don't have the pieces, MLCAD might be the way to go with it.
do not disturb
no lego builder ever makes instructions, its mostly trial and error, more or less you just wing it. lego is all about tweaking/modding your design over and over until you reach a point you can't go any further, when its 4 in morning, your fingers tips are killing, and you're still sitting around in your underwear from the day before. wwwmwww
I'm sorry guys but that's the best I can do. It looks like you have most of the pictures in this thread. Thank Bryce. There are a few pictures above that you don't have over at MechaHub yet. Feel free to grab them if you like. I've now started this thread: http://outsidethebrick.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=891 So we'll see if they can help. Still waiting on the confirmation e-mail from lugnut. And if there are any lego fans here that can send an email in Japanese please PM me. I have a few contacts that I could use to send an email in Japanese already but it might help if the person was also up on lego terminology. It's probably not necessary so if I don't hear from someone in the next day or so I'll go though one of my more normal channels. If that lead pans out I'll share the results here. For those who don't have the pieces, MLCAD might be the way to go with it. Exactly what I was thinking. At the moment I'm on the hunt to locate all the pictures of it that I can. Step 2 will be to try and contact the maker, GlaGla, and see if he'd be willing to offer instructions or maybe sell the original if it still exists. If I had the original I'd do all I could to make 100% accurate instructions. If step two doesn't pan out, for my step 3 I would like to try and reverse engineer this bad boy but I'm not that familiar with the Lego programs that are available so that will take some time. If anyone wants to take a shot at step 3 before I get there PLEASE do. All the pictures I have are already here and if I come across any more they will be here in short order. wwwmwww
no lego builder ever makes instructions, its mostly trial and error, more or less you just wing it. Agreed the instruction making process usually isn't part of the building process. That is unless you build it with some software program to begin with, which I have seen done. However some builders do go back after they are done and have something they are happy with and make instructions at that point. Granted the builders that I have seen do that typically then start selling those instructions on eBay or something similiar. In this case, I WISH GlaGla had done just that as I would have jumped at the chance to make one of these. That said... I'm 99.9% sure no instructions exist for this model yet. I'll play a roll in changing that if I can. Carl
Metal_Massacre_79
Google MLCAD or Mike's Lego CAD. It's a really nice Lego program and it is really easy to learn how to use it. It's largely reliant on the members of LUGNet (Lego Users Group) to create the files for the parts so there may be some parts that Lego makes that aren't in the library yet. They have to submit the pieces for voting and approval before they are added to the library, but you can get some non-approved parts and import them anyway. wwwmwww
found directions yet? Directions were never made for this and Gla Gla is no where to be found. I've contacted a person that knew him and he dropped out of the lego community a couple years ago and none of the people that knew him in the lego community are still in touch with him. His phone number has changed and I have an email address that he used back in 2005, I believe, and it now just bounces stuff back to me. I now have every picture of this model that I'm aware of with the possible exception of the newer version of this one. http://web.archive.org/web/20030505035046/...1.vb6_trns2.jpg So I'll see what can be done about reverse engineering this model and we may have directions for something very very similiar to Gla Gla's model down the road. It will take some time so be patient. Carl
wwwmwww
For reverse engineering this thing I'm sure many gaps will have to be filled. To do as good a job as possible I'm looking for line art of the Lego König Monster. Here is what I have so far: I think there may be more. There is a post here: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?s=&a...st&p=175924 That talks about a picture that shows how the yellow section on the nose actually swings down, and a ladder unfolds down to the ground. If anyone has that please post. If you have any other pics from the VFX2 game like this one: I'd be interested in those as well. I don't need any pics of the Yamato VB-6.
