Graham Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Just wondering has anybody heard anymore news regarding Kawamori's new 26 part TV anime series 'Sousei no Aquerion', which is supposed to be airing in Japan this Fall? Considering that it's nearly September already, it seems strange that there is so little information available about this. I would have thought by now that character and mecha pics would have started appearing in the Japanese hobby magazines. Graham
Boxer Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Maybe it's only a cover for the Macross Zero sequel.
Graham Posted August 29, 2004 Author Posted August 29, 2004 Heh, heh, yeah I've also been hoping that it's a cover for a new Macross TV series Graham
Dat Pinche Haro! Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 actually i've been wondering the exact same thing...almost no information at all...no pictures of the mecha or anything! i'd laugh if Newtype USA gets some info about the series before anyone else does
Final Vegeta Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 What I know is that Aquarian Age comes from a card game... I'm still wondering how Kawamori managed to stick mecha in it... Anyway, Kawamori's would not be the first Aquarian Age series. FV
bsu legato Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Heh, heh, yeah I've also been hoping that it's a cover for a new Macross TV series Sousei no Aquarion = Blue Harvest? We should be so lucky.

I'm still wondering how Kawamori managed to stick mecha in it...Anyway, Kawamori's would not be the first Aquarian Age series. FV The Aquarian Age anime is pretty good, but I don't think the new Kawamori anime is related to that license. If it were, Broccoli would be pumping out the promo stuff right and left.
Effect Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 It being a cover for a new Macross series would be something. I wish that were true .
Final Vegeta Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 The Aquarian Age anime is pretty good, but I don't think the new Kawamori anime is related to that license. Aquarian Age = Sousei no Aquarian. They have the same name, usually this provokes copyright troubles. FV

JELEINEN Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 is this the same Aquarian Age we're talking about?? Yes. Those are Aquarian Age cards.
Knight26 Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Actually the Aquarian Age may also refer to the Age of Aquarius, which is the age we are suppossedly entering. The different "ages" of the zodiac, IIRC, last about 2000 years, we are just coming out of the age of Pisces. The Age of Aquarius is the age where man is suppossed to start leading himself into the future instead of relying on outside forces to guide us. It kind of makes sense and may still lead towards a Macross series because all macross series so far have occured in the Aquarian Age. From the title I would say it might be a show that deals with man/mankind coming to age and leading themselves and may have some spiritual overtones, should be interesting no matter what though.

Final Vegeta Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Actually the Aquarian Age may also refer to the Age of Aquarius, which is the age we are suppossedly entering. True, that's why it's called Aquarian Age. It kind of makes sense and may still lead towards a Macross series because all macross series so far have occured in the Aquarian Age. It won't be Macross because it doesn't have the Macross name. Branding. FV
Knight26 Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 IT could still be a cover name though, just a name to through people off from what he is really doing. Blue Harvest anyone?
Effect Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 On the idea that it might be a Macross show in all but name could be their way of getting around the whole legal mess and allow them to release it outside of Japan without any trouble from other parties. Especially if name and designs are different but they could try to strongly hint at past things and just continue the story. Would be interesting if they did that, I wouldn't mind at all.
Final Vegeta Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Even if doesn't need to have the Macross name, surely it can't have the name of another franchise. FV
JELEINEN Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Even if doesn't need to have the Macross name, surely it can't have the name of another franchise.FV They have different names. "Aquarian Age" is not the same name as "Sousei no Aquarian" even if they might mean the same thing.
mikeszekely Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 Chou Jikyuu Yousai Macross: Sousei no Aquarion...

valk1j Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 No news yet on this project? Or is this thing dead.
macplus Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Maybe Aquarion is the name of a new sentradi fleet that appears in earth and blows everything and there comes another SW full of new valks and destroids! just like the old times!!!
crasis Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 News (sorta) from the latest issue of Anime Insider (Dec 04): There's a three page interview with His Holy Froating Head which focuses primarily on Arjuna and The Daichis:Earth Defense Family (with VERY little Macross mentioned other than a brief plug thrown in at the last moment by Kawamori for Macross Zero 5's release in Japan). He ends the interview with a mention of the new project: "Another series I'm working on is a super transformation robot series called Sousei no Aquerion (Holy Genesis of Aquerion), which will be aired in Japan next spring. Aquerion is like a mix of Macross, Arjuna, The Daichis and Escaflowne. It's something insane, so please look forward to it!" Mixing all those ingredients into one show? I think "insane" definitely sums it up. This looks promising...or at least freaky weird.

I still need to work off my romatic-comedies backlog. So it works out.

Or not so high up in the wrong factor but wrong nonetheless, Kannaduki no Miko. Lesbian super robo action romance. Aquerion sounds like a parody.... Edited November 24, 2004 by wolfx
Renato Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 What's Anime Insider? Anyway, seems like it's been pushed back to Spring, then. Damn. There's nothing good on TV these days. Bring back Samploo already!!
Temucano Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 (edited) Official website www.aquarion.info Kawamori worked on another project too http://www.eureka-prj.net/ Check this out http://www.animenation.net/news/ Edited December 11, 2004 by Temucano
JELEINEN Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 Well at least we know it has transforming robots. The designs really aren't doing much for me though. I might catch the first couple eps to see what it's like, if I get the chance.
Dat Pinche Haro! Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 seems like kawamori was trying too hard to make something different... i wish he'd just make another damn macross series ...or even a gundam series (ducks at the rocks being thrown)
uminoken Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Well seeing as I'm a sucker for anything mecha-manta ray looking, I like the design for Vector Mars but the robots look a little odd tho...
Global Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 I found this news from Anime News Network.... Here's the official website Here is a new trailer It looks really awesome! I can't wait. I hope it gets licenced in the U.S. and Kawamori shows up at AX again this summer.
zeo-mare Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 some of the mechs look cool i hope there is some decent merchandise for this series. chris
