Ok, I know it's just a massive pile of obvious nostalgia bait, but I cannot ever not get chills from the First Contact soundtrack.

Funny, it's almost like the original reversed modex was a mistake... On the other hand though, "Sdrib Legna" sounds vaguely Slavic. I kind of want markings for a team of Sv-51s with those markings now.

1/72 F203 Dragon II Kit Proposal --Moscato Hobby

Hopefully something easy to edit, but I believe you might have your control stick in backwards in the cockpit. Looking absolutely awesome though, love all the small details and options you've included. -
Really hope they overproduce this one, because I could use.. oh, about ten sets of the super packs. Would really prefer they just release them separately, but I've pretty much given up hope of ever getting a decent supply of the packs for the rest of my HMRs.

I mean, sure, I like those ghosts enough to pick up a pair. Will I mount them on the 31? Probably not, that looks obnoxious.

I don't think I can honestly say I've ever cared about paintschemes being canon in the first place. Some of my favorite schemes are ones made up by fans. My issue is that all of these new "celebratory" markings Bandai and Arcadia like to slap on their valks tend to be ducking fugly. Can we just have something that looks good?
-
Seriously, all I want are the packs to install on all the other valks I already have. Why is that so hard for Bandai? It's like they have some sort of manufactured scarcity fetish for their own products.

That might actually be the most streamlined Skyfire I've seen yet in .. ship(?) mode. It's just so clean. I've never even liked the design in the first place, because the winged backpack deal never did it for me, but that might be the best-looking one on the market.- 9275 replies

I would probably chalk that up to there being really nothing unique about any of these, and the fact that the issues with the mold seem both well-known, and almost entirely random. I can't say they're anywhere near as bad as the 171s, but this is probably the most lemony release they've had since that point.

Detail on these continues to impress, I can see that one being really popular, even just as a pure train set, apart from the movie connection. Also really liking this new lighthouse IDEAS set, I feel like I voted for this one a long time ago, and pretty happy to see something in this style. I got the Fishing Store set years back, and feel like it would make a really good companion piece for it. https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/fad6a848-a50d-49c7-9130-dbf03b4dd86d

To be fair to Eaglemoss, I've broken almost as many Enterprise models that I made as I've read about coming broken from them. Trek ships are not the most sturdy product, especially at this size. But the design and manufacturing were absolutely a mess, judging by the amount of misprints, broken products, and the oddball cases where they just made something that somehow wound up looking like complete garbage. I'm still convinced they printed the XL Akira aztec panels by running over them with a tractor tire. Every picture I saw of that ship looked terrible. I never got into the Trek ships, but I picked up several of the larger BSG ships, and while they're better in terms of durability, they still have a few weird flaws and stupid assembly errors, and it's pretty clear that even with bigger models, they have some serious issues aligning their tampo printing process. It's just sloppy, and gives the impression that they do not have a functional understanding of how to print markings on curved surfaces. It's like everything gets stamped from top/bottom, or left/right, and heaven help you if you need something printed on a 45-degree angle, because it's going to be blurry, and stretched approximately 41% in the vertical.

Yeah, I'm actually really liking that shade of green in the newest photos, it's pretty bright, but not gaudy like the older photos. The original just looked nasty because there wasn't enough contrast with the yellow, but the newer shade has enough blue in it so the green and yellow start to compliment each other.

Yeah, the heavy click joints can hold decently, but only if you group them up for larger assemblies. The lack of strong joints was what killed my 1/18th scale VF-1 at the legs. I had everything else complete and working. Was particularly proud of the arms too, they were rigged with four independent worm gear assemblies that gave them the same posability as a Chunky Monkey. I do wish they would come out with some more varied and compact worm-gear assemblies to use for things like the UCS AT-AT, but even then, those sorts of joints aren't playable. They're only good for making display poses.

I generally cave for pretty much any YF-19/VF-19 release, it's my favorite Kawamori design. I might actually have more of those than VF-1s at this point. -
Doubtful, I feel like LEGO refuses to produce any set with actual functional knees. Seriously though, that's a beautiful build, I'm impressed at how detailed they got it.

That's just Bandai in a nutshell though, quantity over quality, not caring if any of it makes a lick of sense. I'd much rather have 50% of the canon markings than 200% that are Bandai's garbage-looking made-up ones, including purposefully incorrect ones that they refuse to correct because they stand behind their mistakes like they're some sort of bizarre artistic statement. At the end of the day, it's a whole lot easier to add missing markings than to erase incorrect or ugly ones.
-
Eh, there aren't enough markings on the Macross 7 valks to warrant a PF version. I wouldn't mind a bit more tampo, but I think all I'd add are intake warnings anyhow, and they'd clash.
-
I flat out refuse to use their stands, period. They look horrendous, and in some cases are terribly balanced for the designs they're supposed to support.
-
Are they actually making new entire kits, or just making the figures to use with the existing valks? They might not go to waste. Also, that monster is looking good. I might have to grab two of those to make a couple of schemes.

Thanks for the review, my pair should be here tomorrow.. of course I have to hope that Fedex aren't their usual selves, and actually ring the bell. Their tracking system is just completely useless lately. It's scheduled for delivery tomorrow, but the last tracking update was friday morning. I actually really love that they replicated the old 80s control panel printing onto new tiles. I still have a bunch of those old pieces, so I recognized the control panel designs immediately.

DX VF-25 Messiah Valkyrie WORLD WIDE MACROSS (WWM) 40th Anniversary
Chronocidal replied to jvmacross's topic in Toys
Yeah, I only ever order anything from BBTS if I'm completely fine getting it incredibly late. I think the only releases I've gotten anywhere near to the shipping date were the couple of Calibre Wings F-14s I bought from them. -
I always thought it was just primarily because it was a delta-winged design, very roughly speaking.
-
Just going to grab a single, they just popped up on Anime Export. I'm actually really happy for the conversion rate right now, it came out under $190, which I think is the cheapest DX VF-1 I've gotten so far.
-
I think they all had this issue actually, the leg swingbars just have a terribly sloppy design to them. I could never get them to fully lock in any position that didn't horribly stress the landing gear doors.
