I was gonna make a poll like this a long time ago, but i predicted the results shown here: The best pilot in the Macross series as a generally accepted (dare i say) fact is Max. (dunno why people think basara is so great...but to each their own) The way i define the 'best pilot' is just based purely on their technical approach and execution of their piloting. In that regard Max was and is the best. In the first series obviously Max was still naive and green in a battlefield, but by M7 he seemed to grow into a mature and able leader in and out of the cockpit. (in a related note, anyone think Max was such a great pilot because he was an arcade geek before joining the service?) As for my favourites, i picked Max and Isamu. Max for his obvious bada$$ piloting skills. I like Isamu's cocky and showboating attitude, kinda makes me think Roy was like him as a younger man (with more booze, though )

Yeah...you probably should get a lot of practice before you take the brush to a Yammie. I bought a knock-off Bandai VF-19 a while back that i was planning on modding, but still haven't gotten well into it. I think planning is a big part of modding; in a fit of frustration over a floppy leg in fighter mode, i carved a hole in one of the legs that a makeshift peg was supposed to go in. Needless to say it didn't go so well. (Oh well, i only paid 25 bucks for it ) Anyway plan ahead, is the point here. And a word of advice: model paint is DAMN expensive, don't waste it.

I once bought my Stealth Super/Strike Special set from a seller on Ebay named Samurai-Monkey (i believe he may be a member here and i think he may have a site now) for $200US shipped from Japan to Canada. I very much recommend him as it was a very good experience.

Well then you, me, and sbout 99% of the macross fan community are in agreement. But, i can ignore the stupidity of Basara and focus on one of the best and most popular characters from that series, Gamlin.

i have to see this movie to see how the hell they make it the least bit believable. Suspension of disbelief is much more lenient towards animation than live action.

So i just watched DYRL for like the hundredth time and i was always wondered about a few things: 1) did Hikaru and Misa have sex after they had their make-believe dinner? Cause when Misa comes out of the house to see Hikaru waiting for the Macross, she is zipping up her jumpsuit. 2) When that meltran q-rau pilot gets shot down in britai's ship, is that light that comes out of her chest plate like a suicide device or something? 3) Prior to the final battle, were the meltrandi allied with the humans? Seems to me, it would make little sense that they would accept Max, macronize him, and give him a q-rau otherwise.

I dont want a movie version of Mac0. I just want the episode that should have existed beween ep4 and ep5. That was my only problem with it, it felt like a standard 6 episode OVA that was cut to 5 after ep4 came out.

True, its not too hard to find a cannon fodder or a hikaru VF-1A for less than 40 + shipping. or you could check the for sale section here, i just picked up a reissue 1/55 Hikaru Vf-1J from a member here for $59 shipped to canada. As far as the MPCs go...if you really want a Max and Millia and dont want to spend a lot, go Toynami. I think i picked up both for less than $100. (But, it'll be impossible to find the FAST packs and i doubt they will ever reissue them.) The MPC Alphas and Shadow fighters are crap. They may look good in pictures, but they are terrible pieces of junk covered in QC issues. (But those boxes sure are neat )

As i understand it, when Hikaru returns to the Macross, Max is the commander of Skull squadron and Hikaru is still just a team leader. So i guess Max got a promotion or two during the time Hikaru was gone. What i want to know is if Hikaru became commander of Skull when Max got stranded with Millia?

Vermilian wasnt its own squadron, it was just a 3 man team within Skull.

I actually really like this idea. It really would make no sense the SA would be still under 'mind control' tens of thousands of years after the PD were imprisoned (i'm pretty sure people of PC blood didn't live that long).

I have to admit that the "space monster" thing kinda made me nervous at first. After much thought 'space monster' could really be anything. Heck i bet people described the Zentredi as space monsters when they first saw Macross. So we may be spared the goofy monster flying through space with no spacecraft.

I'd especially love to see some of the Arm Slaves from Full Metal Panic be made revoltech. Could actually reinact the fights between the Albalast and Venom. It would also be really cool to see the characters from Mai HiME revolteched.

i was just thinking that. But it doesn't seem that big of a deal for high speed mode; just fold in the tail fins and fold down the wings.

Sweet news. Gotta start my YF-21 fund now. (Dang i'm gonna have to get a 1/60 YF-19 then to complete the pair) Oh well. Anyone wanna buy an old beat up 1/72 YF-21 in a next year for a very overpriced amount?

Of all the possible new Yamato products, the 21 is the only one that i would eagerly pay their outrageous prices for. Hopefully by then the 19 would be easier to find with a decent pricetag. As for the old 1/72, in spite of its flaws it is one of my favs in my collection. Never desplayed it in battroid, but it looks so cool in fighter.

It was a pretty good start to the series. Few things i need to nitpick: 1) Why the HELL does Dante love strawberry sundaes so much? Granted i've only played the 3rd game, but i've never heard anything about this before. 2) The action was good but seemed kinda outdated. I dunno about anyone else, but DMC should have been about innovation and style with the action. However they seemed to rely on the old anime thing of suggesting action via sounds and other techniques rather than just show the fight. I really hope the gunfights become more like scenes from Black Lagoon or maybe Cowboy Bebop. But hey, it's only been one ep and that ep was actually really good.

Not much for RPGs myself but i do love the depth of the story and souces in them. I'll definately give it a read.

I guess people don't remember much of Gamlin before he started his storyline with Mylene (i know that was one of the few things about Mac7 i did like) As for the Zentraedi racial thing. I'd really hate to see an entire Macross series about this, we went through that with Gundam SEED (and Wing Commander movie ) that it wouldn't seem new at all. Maybe have one old-timer that was around in SW 1 who still has resentment for zents, but not a series where the entire society is split.

I'd love to see some more bad guy Macross figures. All thats out there now are model kits and those matchboxs ones from the 80's.

The thing that bugs me about battle7 is that it's not like the Macross that sort of resembled a giant humaniod robot, no battle7 looked exactly like a giant humaniod robot that was designed to look like one. Not only that the Macross had the cannon mounted on the 'head' what did battle7 have? a big-ass gun that the big ass humanoid robot gripped with his hands and shot. Come on everyone just admit the huge cheesy factor of it and get it over with.

Shipping included? If so thats a pretty good deal taking into account that they go for about 200 plus 50 shipping usually. Got my super stealth set for 200 shipped from Japan to Canada, very nice deal.
