I was just wondering - what does "shipping" mean in this context? Ranka for the win! Pete

In fairness, there was a lull in the Transformers franchise when the cartoon went off the air in 87 and then the Marvels comics were canceled in 89. At that point - nothing new came out in America until G2 hit the shelves. I was in Europe by 1990, and happily had the UK Classics and Overlord/Motorvators and later Aquaspeeders/Stormtroopers etc - but there was no new story material. However, during this lull, there were many devoted fans and the fanfiction they produced during this period and just after is classic. So - there's nothing wrong with being devoted to dead francises. It can often be wonderfully fulfilling. Problem (IMO) with Robotech is that it was never really 'alive' to begin with insofar as it's "not real" Yeah - but again - I personally don't hold this against them. If something is cool, I don't care if it has one fan or one million fans. Cult classics are wonderful. However, I find it hard to have even an ounce of enthusiasm for Robotech given that it is fake. It was a convoluted vehicle for introducing anime to the USA - that's the nicest thing I can say about it. These are the most amusing folks IMO Bad enough that WE as Macross fans obsess over fictional characters like Minmey and Ranka etc - but imagine - Robotech fans obsess over FICTIONAL FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. I mean - of course there is no such person as Hikaru Ichijo - but there is NO SUCH ANIMATED CHARACTER AS RICK HUNTER! A fiction over a fiction - boggles the mind Pete

It's not in the actual series, but rather in Dynamite (I think it's in Dynamite). There is a character who acts exactly like Grace, with a voice that is also like Grace, and who tries to seduce Mylene into Lesbian sex Veffidas and Roy just barely manage to pull Mylene away, leaving a lingerie clad Grace-look alike smoking her after-sex cigarette despite not really getting any Pete

Hm. This sounds like it could potentialy compete with Gundam Reminds me of that episode when Amuro goes to visit his mom. Pete

Iron Man 2 (Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow!)

RE: I just wanted to take a moment to smile in appreciation for what appears to be an addition in the Rules and Guidelines thread inspired by little old me: Spamming. The following is a (non-exhaustive) list of what may be considered spamming: * Creating a new topic in order to draw attention to another topic. * Responding to a post in another topic by creating a new topic. * Creating several new topics at once. If you have multiple questions, please group them under one topic. * Making short or non-sensical responses in order to increase your post count. * Commercial (standard) spam. * Jennifer Aniston Ok - I promise I'll never mention her again Pete -
Perhaps it's meant as a size comparisson thing? Pete

I have decided we should start a Yoko posing contest. Here's my first entry. I was pleasantly surprised to see that under the scarf is the best Revoltech neck that we have gotten to date: Pete

I can't look at Grace loving any little girl without getting flashbacks of her character template "loving" Mylene in Macros 7 ... Pete

Love the pink lingerie, but that's not exactly Sheryl's body type... Pete

Mod X steps in: "Go back to talking about racy pictures of sexy anime girls and not the extent to which a toy's head rotates or the thread gets locked" Pete

Yep - that's how it works in the USA. But in Poland, where I am, Hasbro has regional distributors which bring the stuff in from Germany, which is where Transformers come in from China when they are sent to Europe (at least for the Continent as far as I can tell. Don't know about the UK). The regional distributors then push it on to us retailers. The regional distributors are not Hasbro per se, of course, which is kind of a shame since they don't know what the frak they are importing and have the business sense of lemmings. But I digress. If Wreck Gar continues to be a no show, I'm going to have to break down and get that stupid Nuclear Atomic Lugnuts that BBTS wants me to buy if I want Wreck Gar Pete

Just far enough, huh? Good design. As for the statue - those boobs are insanely big - and squeezed out away from the body to the extent that they look like clip on balloons. Pass Pete

Hey - play nice please. Pete

Sheryl always gave of she-male vibes. The only really womanly girl in the whole show was Cathy. She actually worried about wrinkles, was too weak to be with a man like Ozma, and then was womanly enough to fall right back into his arms. Oh - and she was there when the blow out fire sales took place befor the dimmensional jump and colony wide blackout. A TRUE woman. Pete

Anything looks good when compared to the 1A. But that's not the fault of Yamato, but rather it's the result of the thin-head DYRL design on the 1A. The 1A head is only tolerable when we're talking cartoon 1A head, when it's thicker. Thick head is preferable to thin head. wait... what did I just say? Pete

So much to watch. So much to watch. Will have to check this out. Pete

How are these changes 'unfortunate' ? I'm about to give up hope on my local Hasbro distributor ever having them in any time this century. Pete

That sounds good to me! Excellent as ever Gubaba Then just add Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfiefer who actually did an entire MOVIE about this Ghetto anime would be a nice change of pace. It would be like Ali G does Akibabara or wha' eva'sss calT. Booyakasha! Pete

I wonder if Freud ever wrote about Warehouse envy? That's what I've got a case of now Pete

I suddenly have the distinct urge to BE a 1:72 scale VF-25. I don't think ANY valkyrie from any previous Macross series ever had so much fun as the 25. Pete

I am unsure as to whether the severed intenstins are anime accurate though - a tad bit more bubbly they should be methinks Pete

For me, the confusion gets even worse, because Mandalorian sounds like Mandarin (the fruit), and Mandarin in Polish is "Mandaryna," and Mandaryna is a Polish Pop singer - although I swear to God I have NEVER heard even ONE freaking song by this woman - not even on the radio. I suspect she doesn't actually sing - but anyways - Because of you George Lucas, and your silly prequal Bobba Fett Backstory, here's what I think of (other than fruit), whenever I see Bobba Fett: Pete

Didn't really know where to put this - but FEAST YOUR EYES (litterally): Now, I say they should serve Pinne Apple cake on that: that way - it leaves little doubt that the recieving party will die Pete

I personally think that - from a business and marketing point of view - anime and anime related merchandise, kind of like westerns in the old days and Sci-Fi in general cuts through the demographics and a good anime show will have something in it for all the various age groups. Oh - and the "age groups" will also be mixed; nominally young people will also have a mature streak and nominally older folks will still have the kid in them. Thus Bri's explanation is plausable and makes sense; but it's not exclussive of others. Pete

I always confused Mandalorian with Mandarin, and since I didn't know about Boba Fett being a Mandalorian until recently (I never really wanted to explore his background - the whole mysterious silent type thing made the character) and therefore I always thought that this was a fruit. Pete
