Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX
VFTF1 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I really have to finish watching MSG... I think I'm going to be old and grey by the time I get around to it. The problem is - every time I watch Gundam I find myself wondering "so...when do the hot singing girls show up?" or "so...when does this transform into something that doesn't resemble itself, only crouching?" and most often "so - when does something remotely happy and optimistic happen?" Not to detract from the show though - but dag...in retrospect and compared with other anime I'm watching/have watched...it's bleak...stark...sad... Although - I give it credit for not being as abysmal as Ideon: Be Invoked... too bad my computer crashed just when I was getting into the series (MSG). I was half way in and then kaput. So naturally I've been recovering Macross and Gurren Lagann and still have to recover NGE... Will be a while till I get back to Gundam. God. For all the technological wonder of the internet, I sometimes think that I'd save more time jus getting on an airplane, flying to Japan and spending a couple thousand bucks on DVDs and then getting a multi-Region player. It might "cost less" in money to download the fansubs - but by Chrome - it costs a helluva lotta time! Pete- 3823 replies

The one thing I'm not liking on the GI GL is the face - what's with the smirk? I like the Revoltech for giving him two different faces Pete

I'm getting the Great Impact Lagann and the Gurren Lagann Wing version from Konami, but yeah - I have to pick this thing up for sure. I'm blindly in love with Gurren Lagann and already have the Kotobukiya models and the Revoltechs... now on to the Impact But still - they could do more... although I'm glad we're getting Revoltechs for these guys... Pete

I also enjoy my Daimos. Although I haven't had a chance to play with him much just yet. I'm not too bothered by the head transformation. It technically still is perfect TF, since you just swivel it ... but ... the thing that bugs me is transforming the arms. I've had to remove his fists to get the cargo bay to close properly. Any suggestions on that? Pete

I don't think she's cute. And I don't like her mecha. She's just a wanna be come lately who thinks she can muscle in on Asuka and Rei's turf. Her innocent school girl looks and quado-ped eva unit doesn't fool me for a minute. And her flight suit thingy makes her look like she should be Cosmo's girlfriend or something... I dunna like her... Anime maginc in Macross 7?! No way! Pete

Well, actually, the one to really watch is Pam Anderson - now living broke in a trailer park. And check out the wrinkles on that forehead. Getting rid of those costs only like 200 bucks or so every two or three months. This should NOT be a problem for her. The sub-title going off on the belly is off base. That's not fat - it's excess skin that droops. Can also be remedied but takes time at the gym and a good diet. But it's that forehead that shocked me. Come on Pam! Get back together! : http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,517744,00.html Pete

Interesting. For Gamlin, though, I'd still rather have a VF-17. The Strogonov is pretty good though. Will probably get it. Pete

Yeah, I'm not digging this either. I think the wheels really ruin it. Then again, given the "insectical" aesthetic of the byped EVAs, I guess making this an actually mantis wouldn't have worked either. In any event - why? What purpose does this thing have? It has a drill....? Is that a drill? Will they be drilling? Looks bizarre. But then again, originally so did EVA as such. Pete

I knew the movie would SUCK as soon as I saw Revoltech Movie Yoko. Sure, her boobs are bigger - but what's with the hair? I mean - Movie Yoko's hair seems to just like - all hang out. Usually I like that in a woman, but the huge main of hair just doesn't go well with a gall with a big butt and big boobs like Yoko. The tied-back with the chop-sticks hair was classic and perfect for her. True, the Revoltech Movie version throws the tied-back hair part in there - so it's not bad as a Revoltech - and you get the bigger boobs - but I just kind'a thought to myself that if the movie is like Yoko's hair - with the hair let down - then the movie will probably not be that good. I haven't seen it yet though... I have however been watching GL the series for the past couple of days again. I'm just finishing up. It's sooooo awesome! I really want a Soul of CHogokin Gurren Lagann - but a COMPLETE one. I want Bandai to make it so that we get Lagann and Gurren, and then Arc Gurren Lagann, and then the Moon GL and finally Universe/Galaxy GL... all in one package. Make it so the parts are add-on or something like that. In any event, I might check the movie out later - but judging by what Duke Togo said, I probably will not do so unless I'm really really bored Pete

So that's what that new Revoltech thing was. It kind of looked EVA-ish... but I couldn't pin it. I'll watch this, probably enjoy it - but like Anime52k8 said, I too prefer the original hands down. I even prefer the ending of the series to the Movie. That said, I have been getting more into DYRL lately as opposed to SDFM TV - but I think that mainly because I have only watched DYRL like...once...up to now. But - whatever - I think the days when you could be a "purist" on anything are long gone. I'm starting to look at the constant re-boots and re-dos the same way as I look at Shakespeare in theatre. HUNDREDS of directors have given their own spin to Shakespeare's plays (not only, to other classics as well) with often wild results. It's the same with anime now, I guess. Everybody wants a crack and telling "their" version of a cult classic story. But still...yeah - the first one is always th best mainly because you have that feeling of just how new and fresh it was... Pete

No... look here for the greatest injustice since they cancelled Dynasty: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...&hl=tabloid That's where the rule comes from Pete

I wouldn't get to angry about it either... I mean - as hard as this might be for some people to imagine but... Yamato doesn't actually...you know...produce Japan Hobby Show exclusives with...people in California in mind. They do it --- now I know this might come as a shock but --- they do it with... bear with me.... Japanese and other nationality but local fans who....will...attend the hobby show in mind... Pete

It's going to be a 1:8 Lyn Kaifun figure in SDFM TV hippie duds. Features will include: 1. Life life "combable" hair 2. Pre-recording "ooh!" and "aah!" sounds made by women who see Kaifun on the street. 3. Hand book on Chinese martial arts titled "Fight Not Kill" Yamato has also announced that they are going to scrap the v.2 1:60 line at this stage and focus on making more Kaifun dolls. Pete

Hm. I dunno - that Ranka looks wierd. Although she has nice legs. But I've pretty much switched my fixed posed doll fetish to Yoko from Gurren Lagann anyways. I DO want to get a Sheryl figure though. I'm getting the Call Monster Girl swimsuit Ranka. As for Sheryl - I really want her in a nice dress, not in the BDSM uniform duds. Pete

This is very true. This is also why it's important that you quickly make your child your ally against your wife. Your child MUST turn to the Dark Side of the Force. Only then will your collection remain a treasured and lasting item in your home. And finally...there will be...peeeeaaace. Pete

Yeah, Exo himself wrote in the "Save MisterRyno" thread that he wasn't banned due to spamming or excessive posting, but because he got a 3 day time out and created a fake account anyways, and basically didn't give a bum poopoo about the mods, the rule etc. It's pretty simple. When a mod gives you a warning, you can discuss it politely and a) compromise and drop the issue, b) politely disagree and stop visiting the sight or c) be a dork and get a temp ban and then create a new account leading to perma-ban. I agree that he's a good guy. I did some deals with him too and he was honest and spotless and seemed to really enjoy the hobby. But - then again - how many of us are DISHONEST and HATE the hobby? These are bare minimum "credentials" for being at Macross World. It also helps to follow the rules. Besides - I notice that usually people scream loudest about the evil rules when they themselves are under the thumb of the rules. I don't know about you guys - but I've read the rules and if there was something I disagreed with or had doubts about - I would post a topic in the member feedback forum to make sure, to clarify - BEFORE getting to a potential conflict stage. Sometimes, though, there will always be a couple rules we don't like or agree with. I know I HATE Section 1, point 5, sub-point 6 .... But what can little old me do about it? It's just one of those small injustices that I guess make the world imperfect. Pete

He didn't take my friendly advise. Pete

It's patently obvious that this is the correct answer: We're going to get Shin's Trainer. It makes perfect sense. Given how the VF-OA was pretty QCrwed (QC-screwed) over, the fighter deserves another go. This would be a nice way to make ammends. Oh - and they can make it a two seater and therefore include - I dunno -a little Mao figure. If they're really inventive, they'll give us Sarah riding that hard-as-rock protoculture phalic symbol as well Yay. Pete
-
Sweet!! I'm so thrilled about that Revoltech Gurren with the little Lagann! Yeah!! And the Ark Gurren Lagann too! YAY!! Now if they could just make some of the other gunmen And damn do I want Enkidu:( Pete

Glad to hear they helped. The only value I see in the MP seekers is that, IF you are a big fan of Transformers G1 (I am), then of course you cannot help but be happy with the MP seekers because despite minor flaws and shortcomings, they are very cool representations of some memorable and beloved characters. But if these characters mean nothing to you, or you're just a fan of mecha and jets in general - then yeah - Yamato Valkyrie are better in general IMO Pete PS - RE: QC of the MP Seekers - All three of my Seekers, like all of my MPs - have no QC flaws. however, some of my customers have complained about their MPs. It seems that some of the MP Skywarps came without the vent-fans inside some of the chest parts (as unbelievable as it is). Now we hear that there was a problem with the Thundercrackers. Interesting, since most Takara-Tomy products have been free of such problems up to now.

I had a severe dermatological condition with dry, iritating and itchy skin all over my back and stomach, sometimes spreading to my arms as well -oh - and on my face, under my eye. A Asian massage specialist took a look at it and said I had herpies. Some nurse in a NYC hospital scooped up a sample of my skin, ran some tests, and suggested I stop using Armani products and instead use Dove deoderant and Dove shampoo. My room-mate at the time thought I had poison ivy. My dear Dad, however, opined that it was all in my mind - he said the condition was a physical manifestation of my unhappy psyche; that in effect the illness was psycho-somatic. He pinpointed the prblem on my girlfriend at the time. I got rid of her. The itching went away. I've been healthy ever since - although a slight rash always develops on my stomach every time I get angry. It's like the Incredible Hulk or something. "Don't get me mad - you won't like me when I'm mad" My current girlfriend, thankfully, doesn't give me any infections. Even when she breaks up with me or throws a fit (very often) - it's usually cause of hysterical laughter because she's so retarded in how she does it Been together 5 years. No itching. As for my collection - never given me anything but absolute physical pleasure. Pete
